  1. Calling in riot cops to goose-step down Speedway and beat up peaceful protesters was beyond the pale. Hartzell probably has the support of the money, but that was awful.

  2. lol yeah, my only complaint is about the number of podcasts, I don't have time to listen to them. It fills my need for entertaining background buzz. It's not like it's one of the Obama guys talking about kids getting massacred in Gaza and then cut to a Tinder ad. /no cr

How does somebody who cannot shoot the ball get ranked as a top 10 prospect?  Ridiculous.

Basically every top 10-20 recruit we've had since Jordan Hamilton

ah yeah, spotify injects ads on top of the broadcast. I'm not sure if spotify premium removes these or not. You can listen on other platforms and those are not injected.

Spotify premium does not remove these ads, though they may be less frequent. I do get less dickpill ads

JFC we were 1-4 going into the Texas OU game. A lot of those shitty years blend together for me... was that the year TCU launched us into the sun the week before?

Idk if it was the week before, but it's the only time I can ever remember the $9.95ers saying "actually practice this week sucked" and then we won

I think unless something crazy happens that Michigan will be back to irrelevant on the NC level by 2026

There are a LOT of rich lawyers and finance guys that are Michigan alums. It's where the rich people in New York send their kids who they couldn't get legacy admitted into Ivies. They should not have a problem getting NIL ramped up at all.

What would one do with a Geography degree? I think I'm kind of stunned that that degree exists these days. I have a 10 year old who is quite gifted in geography and I always tell him that that talent will be worthless outside of trivia night at his local dive bar.

Go to graduate school for something else.

  8. 20-11, 9-9 in conference with this roster is pretty good, IMO. This team has two scorers, one of whom is a diminutive streak shooting guard and the other is hurt all the time. Mitchell and Hunter are JAGs, great evals by St. Beard there. Johnson and Holland bailing so late was a tough roster management thing to deal with for any coach, and I really thought we were gonna go sub .500 when we dropped the UCF and WVU games. Next year the team will be more talented (assuming no late bailers). I think we're fine.

chris beard told his team this week that tonight’s game was for their tournament life. they know where they stand. even thinking about making the tournament as a goal for this season would have been absurd. that was never realistic for this team. this tweet acts like they’re dunking on beard and ole miss for their weak non-con schedule as if it’s coming back to haunt them now, when that schedule was exactly what that team needed. acting like this is news, or something to diss ole miss for is odd.

Serious question, and apologies if you've answered this before, but do you think he should still be the coach at Texas? Because I don't see the point in defending him otherwise.

    1) When the groups come together in order to set salary caps, they will establish steep costs for violating the salary cap. This won't be a black market. Anyone trying to establish one will be punished by the collective org. That's basic shit when a market is transparent yet closed. Corruption can occur only within short windows.

    2) Players will still get compensated outside of that for NIL.

Item 1 presumes that a metric fuckton of things would have to happen in order for 1 to come to fruition. Conferences would have to find a way to align and anoint a commission or commission who would have unchecked power and they would all have to agree to that role and responsibility. If they can never do this, 1 never happens and it doesn't matter.

Item 2 exists now and won't be changing. People can call it what they want and whine about it if it doesn't serve their purpose, but no one is going to be preventing a player from getting endorsements in whatever form they manifest. They'll be getting run over repeatedly if they try to limit it.

If folks want to understand how this will all shakeout between the conferences, programs, players, and media deals, they should read a book or two on game theory. A lot of this shit is going to play out in paint-by-numbers fashion once framed in that context. My view is that nothing is going to change this from the "wild west" until the conferences and schools are able to "give" some of the media revenue pie to the collective of players within those conferences. That is a long walk from here. The SEC can't just tell its 16 members that they are all now required to give a certain percentage of their money to the players on campus. Anyone looking for something expeditious is fucked. I think Saban ultimately came to this realization. Alabama is fucked on NIL for the rest of his lifetime. Praise the Lord that that stay true.

I am by no means an antitrust expert, but it seems like we are about to see quite a bit of antitrust litigation around conference realignment and if the conferences do these kinds of things. The consumer welfare standard has been in place as long as Board of Regents of OU v NCAA has been law, but the former is certainly being challenged quite a bit these days.

  11. Paul's really smart and has also been lauded as really smart on the internet for 20+ years and it shows.

It seems like an enormous bag fumble / ego trip for Nahlin and IT to blow up what they had just two months ago, but them's the breaks. Spotify said I listened to more "On Texas Football" than I did anything else combined last year.
