  1. From my perspective, there are multiple steps that can be taken and ought to be taken to counter the problem especially of school shootings. I see three steps that should be taken, in the following order, based on enforceability and immediate impact that are primarily focused on gun violence in schools as we have a premier duty to protect the ones that cannot protect themselves accordingly.

    1) Regulation on gun storage: Every gun has to be stored accordingly if it is not carried by the owner. With stored accordingly I mean some kind of safe or locker. You have to limit accessibility to guns for prospective school shooters and since they can't buy the guns by themselves for the most part, family stocks are a main weapon source. Further, you have to penalize failures to comply with this regulation pretty seriously. Similar laws are already in place in other countries and are for my point of the view the best short-term action that also has a chance of making it through the legislative process.

    2) Intensify mental health screenings: From my point of view, guns are not the main problem. School shootings are foremost a symptom of deeper problems, but access to guns is what creates a deadly combination. But for every school shooting, there is also a kid that has been lost along the way and that feels the urge to go out on a killing spree and eventually kill himself. For the poster that asked what the number of mentally ill school shooters is, I'd argue 100%, but not all of them have been diagnosed beforehand and that's where we have to get better. Most of those kids have a history of being outsiders, being bullied, or being loners, and we as a society have to make a better job of helping kids before they get fantasies of shooting up their school.

    3) Gun control: Lastly, and this is by far the hardest point, which I do not feel like happening anytime soon, is that we enact stricter gun control. I don't think it is the premier measure that should be done, as there are already too many guns in circulation and you can either get guns illegally or use some other weapon (think knifes, explosives, cars, etc.). What I would like to see though, is tighter regulation on who is able to buy guns with a focus on a mental health screening/ psychological background checks. While I do not want to take the guns away from the rightful citizens, I fail to understand while we wouldn't want to check who might be unfit for a weapon of lethal force. You wouldn't hire some lunatic to be your pilot or physician or whatever, why would you give them a deadly weapon. That's something I cannot really comprehend.

Buckle up for what will probably be one of the wildest recruiting years we have in a long time. The high rated class of last year, combined with new coaches at OU and A&M, combined with what should be a decent year on the field will probably create some wild swings in momentum.

    No shit, Sherlock

Even if you disregard Carrington's tweet. It cant be a good sign (for aggy) that any of the their recruiting guys haven't been able to get a quote from Leal saying he's still solid. And you know they've followed him to the restroom.

Beck was a terrible hire when it happened, and he's still a bad OC. He's likely going to get let go at hte end of the year, so why leave a bad coach in place? I don't usually advocate for change, but when the coach has been poor everywhere he's gone and he was poor for your team last year, what evidence do you have to expect a better result this year?

Because last year's sample was pretty much shit. You had two young QBs starting continuously getting banged up because the oline couldn't block. You had freshmen starting at virtually every position throughout the offense at some point because of shitty depth. And then our oline woes made it really hard to execute plays. Imo play calling wasn't the biggest issue, but oline play and execution (some of it attributable to youth). Our offense is going to be better this year and if not, I'm totally for a change. Oline was the biggest issue and TH tackled that one in the off-season. But Beck has done a tremendous job on the recruiting trail hauling in 3 stud QBs so far and is closing in on the next cycle right now. This year will be the make and break year for him, but I am confident that we will see improvement based on those factors

If y'all can't realize that more than half our offensive staff is bad at coaching football, then I can't help you.

If y'all can't realize that a new OC/offensive staff every year isn't going to help that I can't help you, too.

That is exactly what this team needs - consistency and better oline play. However, the apparent preference to some fans is for complete turnover on the offensive side of the ball.

It always is with some #startthetruefreshmenQB

I recall seeing a pic of him throwing the horns down on his OU visit. I’m guessing that is extremely rare to do that and then later commit to UT.

Saw that as well. On the other hand, I think it is kinda the official hand sign of OU by now...

  8. Don't know how I should feel about Wilkins rescheduling. EJ's quote sounds a bit like the staff tried to push back the OV, but I'm a little worried that he might be committing to BlowU somewhere down the road and won't be making it in the fall...

Would y’all say schools (OU,a&m) are pushing Texas out of state or Texas is choosing or bit of both.

Floyd was expect since the LB options in-state aren’t good. -Texas’ choice.

Besides Wilson, Higgins, and Jordan Texas seems to be focusing out of state. Don’t remember if Texas ever had interest in those WR’s that just committed to OU again or maybe they didn’t have interest. - don’t know

With the DB class last year the other schools are hammering that to the in-state DBs. Make sense to go out of state. At the moment it only seems banks is the only real shot at Texas. Richardson would get back in if he ever made a visit. But if they lock up young and Wolfe he may stay. - bit of both, but more pushed out due to the 18 class.

Regardless I see Texas is looking more out of state with many positions, which I like. Texas needs to recruit nationally.

Little bit of both really IMO. A lot of guys with a lot of baggage in TX this cycle that might be athletically gifted but that we are not pursuing... I think the staff has their big board of who they want and they don't necessarily care about where he is from

Apparently an IT poster knows the father of one of Leal's teammates at Judson. This is what he had to say

Can't read that shit on my tablet, cliffs notes Plz?

Leal's recruitment is not over yet, Texas still his dream school - Advantage aggy

Well, when you put it like that, Leal is a DO NOT WANT.

Nah, jk...still want him, but it is nice to have perspective. And no, the $9.95ers haven't gotten any better at evals over the years, I'll leave that sort of things to guys who's career depends on getting it right, the actual coaches.

Well he is the number 1 guy on our board, so there you have it...

I think it was to be expected that both ATM and BlowU would gain some steam this weekend with their spring games, especially with Jimbo pushing for early commitmens. I think it will be important to regain momentum with the key targets asap (if I was us I'd schedule my spring game next week or something like that )

Obviously wasn't the weekend we were looking for, but we will push back again soon. Need the key targets on campus and then everything will be fine in the end
