If anyone from Colorado deserves a cover it's Travis Hunter. But Sanders has the more marketable last name, unfortunately.

The fact that they're doing just one player per P4 conference probably screws Ewers. Despite winning the Big 12 title he won't get to be the Big 12's pick because of our SEC move, while the SEC's pick will probably be someone from their conference title game (Milroe or Beck).

Might be thinking too deeply for EA but I kind of think the SEC move actually works in his favor. With all the change coming this season and this game having the opportunity to showcase all of it beforehand, putting a Texas jersey with the SEC emblem on the cover seems like a decent marketing tactic to highlight one of the biggest changes.

I will be playing the shit out of it regardless, but Quinn being the conference rep would provide for some glorious screenshots from a variety of fanbases.

Any chance Ewers is a cover athlete? There will be multiple cover athletes but just one QB, so Ewers will have to beat out Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe and Carson Beck for the cover spot.

Matt Brown: Here's what I know about the EA Sports College Football 25 cover athletes

I was thinking Shedeur was a lock, but it’s interesting that he has yet to post the “I’m in the game” advertisement. I’m wondering if it comes out eventually that the Sanders family pulled the same move as the Mannings and opted out. Either that or EA is planning some big splash when they reveal him. Travis Hunter and Ewers/Beck/Milroe all posted it FWIW.

Saw Ewers, Hunter, and Donovan Edwards getting some traction in the Reddit comments and thought it was a solid guess.

  3. Always enjoy the takes from early mock season. Wonder how this one (full of notable names from Surly past) will age.

That and who at aggy would throw to him?  Spring game didn't exactly inspire confidence in that offense.

While true, Auburn’s 2023 pass offense was far worse with no injury/Jimbo excuse. Guy left Penn St to join one of the few P4 programs with even less explosive passing attacks. Freeze is a wizard.

Michigan's spring game is on Fox right now. Started at 11am central.

Charles Woodson is very annoying. They officially announced Big Noon Kickoff for the game on 9/7.

He may be considered a top-25 transfer, but in 4 years he has never gotten a single All-Conference or All Defense Award. No All Freshmen Team. Not even honorable mention. Nothing.  For me, that is a red flag, especially when 3 out of the 4 years were in the AAC. And Arkansas sucked last year.  It would be different if he was a sophomore.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he is great.

Houston had a ton of talent yet Kelvin Sampson (elite defensive coach) liked him enough to give 20mpg as a freshman for a Final Four team and start every game in ‘22-‘23. Then he gets the most usage of his career with Muss (elite offensive coach) and puts up damn good numbers on a dumpster fire of a squad. Now he comes back to his home state and perfectly fills a role (long/athletic scoring wing) that Texas fans have been requesting for years.

I see The Athletic has a couple guys named Tyrese Hunter and Dillon Mitchell ranked above all of RT’s current guys and sandwiching Pope. Must be all that glorious P5 conference and tournament experience.

  7. 99% positive that whole “love triangle” rumor was created out of thin air by bored Mizzou trolls who knew dumbass Arkansas fans would latch on to any excuse for their incompetence this season. I’m sure there are better boards out there for you to discuss these fantasies.

Obviously means he's most likely going to one place (SLU) but it's not like it prevents him from talking to other schools, just that he has to make 1st contact which it seems like he's done

Guess I’m just used to seeing the “no contact” wording for guys who are 100% locked in on following their departing head coach. Him making first contact is great with me though.

This is exactly the kind of player we need, especially if Hunter is the other guard.  6'3 point guard who is a 2-time all-conference defender, while also being an excellent distributor and as a bonus, can hit 3s at a very efficient rate.  Yes, please.  Moreover, he seems happy with a lower usage (~15%). And as a final, critical point, he has experience leading a very successful team.  Indiana State was 32-7 last year and finished #38 in KenPom.  Way better fit than someone like AJ Storr in my view.

I'm not as excited about Carey Booth.  Dude was not really very impactful in any way.  We don't need more bigs like Onyema (who was better than Booth in just about every stat on a per 100 possessions or per 40 minute basis).  We need to go out and get an ELITE big man who can rim protect and rebound at a high level.  Someone aggressive.

For me this was the big issue with our team last year. We played soft, mainly in the paint. And as much as I love Disu, when he was our center, we were a pretty soft team.  And Shedrick didn't help much in that regard either.  Christian Bishop was much more of a dawg down low than either of them.  RT needs to fix that in the portal.

Agreed on both. On3’s national update didn’t seem to consider us too much of a threat for Booth at least. For Julian Larry they mentioned they are “keeping an eye” on this Texas visit, but additional OVs are likely.

Goddamn I would love it if Avila isn’t a SLU lock and actually visits.
