  1. Reminds me of the 1973 “Battle of the Sexes” farce where Billie Jean King whipped 55 year old big mouth Bobby Riggs in three straight sets 6/4, 6/3, 6/3.
30,000 watched it in the Astrodome along with 90 million on TV.
IIRC, it was $100,000 - winner take all.

Went ahead and chose my seats today during my assigned times slot.  Kept the same ones as last year.  What surprised me is how bad the parking selection was.  Anybody get anything better than Trinity garage that chose today (Wednesday)?  Kind of thought I had a shot at LBJ lots or San Jacinto garage.

Best I could get was Trinity….. after being in the Brazos garage for 15 years. fml

  3. General purpose knife - I don’t like having to go to the kitchen crap drawer, the workbench, or back to the car to fetch a knife to cut something.
Plus I like the switchblade auto opening feature, as my current cheap knife is kinda clumsy to open & close.

  4. Last week, we took some friends out to a new restaurant, and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. It seemed a little strange.
When the waiter brought our water and cutlery, I noticed he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around and saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets.
When the waiter came back to serve our soup I asked, "Why the spoon?" "Well, "he explained, "the restaurant’s owners hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped piece of cutlery. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our staff are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift."
As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he was able to replace it with his spare. "I’ll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now." I was impressed.
I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter’s zip on his trousers. Looking around, I noticed that all the waiters had the same string hanging from their flies. So before he walked off, I asked the waiter, "Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?"
"Oh, certainly!" Then he lowered his voice. "Not everyone is so observant. That consulting firm I mentioned also found out that we can save time in the rest-room. By tying this string to the tip of you know what, we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the rest-room by 76.39 per cent."
I asked "After you get it out, how do you put it back?"
"Well," he whispered, "I don’t know about the others, but I use the spoon."

You've (actually, we've) probably traumatized him.  Now he may not come to the States at all.

Oh, he’s lurked here before….and has traveled the States numerous times, so he knows the score.
Plus he’s a former RAF veteran of the Falkland Islands War and the Lebanon “troubles” 40 years ago.
He has “seen the Elephant “.

  6. Remember several years ago how aggy fought against Texas Tech establishing a new veterinary school, but big bad evil UT supported the Techsters?
Seems the farmers were being their usual selfish & insecure selves, and someone should rub their punchable faces in this story and remind them of their inability to deal with reality and the good of the country.

God these pregame shows are terrible. The ex jocks in their fine suits putting on fake debate, pretending to bust balls ever so politely.  When they get to the big open area in the studio and, in their suits, line up against each other and pretend to demonstrate how to do a swim move or press cover a WR, it’s pretty cringy.

    They really do that?

I never have watched one of those shows, NFL nor college.
And usually turn the sound down during the few pro & college games we watch.
Mrs. Brat turns the tv sound off for the UT games and listens to Craig Way on her little radio with ear buds.
