  1. I'm really curious to see if Bregman can step it up in a contract year, he has been nowhere close to the guy in 2018 and 2019 that was a 8-9 bWAR monster. I know some of the struggles are injury related, but it's hard not to notice that the big money extension kicked in right as the downward trend started.

  2. Need WRs that can separate. With Tank hurt we only had Nico, who a good DC can scheme away using double teams and blitzes. WRs should be tripping over themselves to catch the ball from Stroud, so let's see what we can do.

  3. Y'all remember the straight nastiness we had with Lidge/Dotel/Wagner back in the day? I think we're back at that level with Abreu/Pressly/Hader, with flexibility to mix them around based on where lefties are in the opposing batting order.

  4. Nothing in the NFL is more valuable than a franchise caliber QB on a rookie contract, and we have one of those. The next 4 years (three plus 5th year option) is best window we'll have to put Super Bowl talent around him. Time for Nick, DeMeco, and the McNairs to get to work.

  5. It was infuriating just how misused CP was at Chelsea, and I say that as a Chelsea fan.

But bringing him on the cheap was a genius piece of business for Gerry Cardinale and Redbird Capital. CP is already one of the best players in Italy and over the next 18 months I expect CP will be the biggest (Non-Messi) face of the US-hosted 2026 World Cup, bringing in plenty of $ for himself and ownership.

  6. It's 100% real. Stroud and Dell hit it off at the combine, and Stroud immediately let the front office know after being drafted that he'd love it if Tank was also a Texan. And props to the front office for doing it... they had the scouting chops to have a high enough grade on an undersized WR, and also showed they were willing to do things to make the possible face of the franchise comfortable.

And one more because they our boys

  7. Think I remember hearing after the draft that once CJ was drafted, the Texans ran some WR options by him and it was CJ that pushed for Tank specifically. Maybe that’s bullshit but they sure have chemistry

  8. CJ is starting to learn the limits of his arm talent and that the worst case scenario can happen more often when the other side has professional football players at every position. This is good for his long term development. He's taking some real hits too.

Next week will be telling. I'm likely one of the biggest CJ truthers here from way before the draft, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if he plays a clean game vs Jacksonville... I think it's the first time an NFL team will get a second crack at Stroud, and they'll be ready later after Stroud came into their house and kicked their ass. Let's see how Bobby counters.

  9. Yeah, I like Anderson and am glad he’s on the Texans. I also think Caserio overpaid based on everything that came out after the draft. They could’ve given up #33 or next year’s #1, but they didnt have to give both. AZ wanted out of the #3 spot.
Yeah it's an overpay if you think about the usual cost to move up from 12 to 3 for a non QB. However, the fact that we still had the CLE first helps cushion the blow.

Here's how I look at it. Say we drafted Will at #2... the fact that he is #3 amongst NFL edge defenders in pass rush win percentage and #1 in run support win percentage means it's a home run pick. So then it's that package for Stroud at #3, which is a freaking slam dunk deal.

  10. Would’ve been nice to get Sauce and either Jordan Davis or Garret Wilson/Chris Olave in the 2022 draft though. Whiffing on Stingley and aggy guard then overpaying for Will Anderson makes the Watson trade feel empty. Effectively, Texans gave up Watson and their #33 overall pick in 2023 for Kenyon Green and Will Anderson.
Will Anderson has been a top 10 guy at his position this year, maybe top 5, according to the advanced stats. He's an absolute monster in the making.

  11. so the ticket is prince+dunlop and we’re just not gonna say anything?
Lol took the words right out of my mouth.

If Sorkin, Koppelman, et al don't have a doozy of a tennis insult in the finale I'm gonna be extremely disappointed.

  12. So... I'm at a buddy's apt.. We're on his patio watching tv in the house with the door open...
    He puts on the Astros.
"Nah, man. I can't watch the game. Change it."
So he throws on YouTube and we watch boxing, as we tend to do.
Top of the 9th, he switches on the game.
Him: "Oh, it's over. 4-2 top of the 9th."
Gray: "Close the fucking door. I'm not watching."
I turn on the play by play app.
    Bing. Bang. BOOM!
    TRASHCAN MOTHE4FUCKERRRRRE!

I apologize for watching the 1st two games, but we're good, because the next Astros game I watch will be in March 2024.
    Thank you for your service
  13. Did it ever clear up?   My plan was to be there but an urgent work project popped up and I’m working my first Saturday in forever…
Cleared up great starting about 7 minutes before totality.

    Great day...
