  2. I wish someone in the press had the balls to ask Trump why he doesn't pledge Mar-A-Lago as collateral for the bond if, as he says, it's worth 50-100 times more than it gets valued at.

I'll take you up on that.

Will be the easiest money I'd ever won.

Do you plan on living forever?   Because that's an awfully long time.

At this point you just have to assume any personal info you’ve got is compromised. Freeze your credit, freeze your kids credits, and pepper your angus

I am just going to salt my angus.    That will tenderize it better.   But you do you.

I was very selective with my cell number for 20 years and rarely got spam until a couple of years ago, when I began receiving a bunch of Trumpy shit addressed to my dead father (who despised Trump) and if I ever discover that someone unleashed this spam on me intentionally, I will retaliate disproportionately, excessively, and unreasonably.

So...  A futile and stupid gesture.

Let the first Surly Lawyer who hasn't had to deal with a high level of trial court fuckery during his/her career step forward.  I've spent my career observing the good, the bad, and the ugly, and Cannon's decision-making hasn't approached a level of weirdness or what-the-fuck that I've seen on the ugly end of the spectrum when considered in a vacuum.  The difference is that this case is important for our country and I'd like to think we deserve way better (some might argue we are getting what we deserve).  But as someone pointed out, there is a reason for judicial review.  We are in an awful hurry here, and the anxiety we who are concerned citizens feel is real.  Her fuck-ups are magnified.  Hopefully, they will be corrected, either by her or someone above her pay-grade.  But those of us in the business have seen it all.  If the stakes weren't so damned high, it would be a bit more laughable.

Careful, lots of Surly lawyers aren't really lawyers.  And most of the actual lawyers here post way to much to be good lawyers.

Wife is applying for jobs (I think mostly copywriter, coming from nonprofit grant writing and development) and is having me review her resume. Content wise it is fairly good but is a whole canva thing with all sorts of formatting, picture in front of a tree, etc. Are the scanning systems still too dumb for that/has the guidance for super simple formats and fonts remained the same?

Use chat GPT and jobscan.com to help with resume and job KSA matching. Both are very under utilized tools.

I've used jobscan versus just eyeballing it myself and have gotten about the same success rate with getting past the ATS systems.

I applied to and interviewed with my old company for a near lateral move (salary and responsibility wise) in January.

    - Application was sent in on 1/08.

    - Interviewed on 1/23 with the hiring manager then 1/26 and 1/30 with others for the 2nd round.   I have known the hiring manager for 20+ years.

    - She called me on 2/5 to let me know that there was an internal candidate that she wanted to talk to but that was most likely just going to be a courtesy interview for that person.

    - I followed up on 2/20 via text to find out that those interviews hadn't even happened yet.  I also foudnd out independently that the hiring manager's mom had just passed away the night of the 19th.  Ugh.

    - We talked on 3/7 and she confirmed that I would be her choice and they she would be meeting with her boss on Friday to start the process.

    - I followed up yesterday (3/20) via text.  She told it was still in approval limbo.   FWIW, at my prior employer, req and candidate approval go all the way to the CEOs desk before they get green lit.

    - Got another text literally just now as I type that the approval is sitting on here boss's boss's desk.   Then it goes through 3 other people before final approval.

In conclusion, the corporate hiring process absolutely sucks ass.

On the plus side, I have been substitute teaching since early Feburary.   I have learned that I never, ever want to teach middle schoolers.   High school has been pretty decent the freshmen are something else too.
