Don’t leave out Arizona, half this state bitches about California non-stop during the week then loads up their jacked up truck (that’s never been off road) and heads to SD, OC and LA for the weekend.

  2. Your friend probably knows this but the biggest thing on the way down is to not speed, especially through Sonoyta, (drive under the limit) and to make a full stop at the stop signs there.   Only keep a twenty in your wallet so you don’t flash a bunch of cash if you do get pulled.  Don’t try to take a vape/weed with you, you’ll go to fuck you up jail for that.

    Yes.

God (and even Jesus despite the hippie-fiction of him in the West) is violent. And perfect.

There is a time to kill, as the old proverb goes.

And we know God is perfect, how?  Because, in collection of stories written by a bunch of goat herders a couple thousand of years ago, they claim him to be?  If a person did the things attributed to God you’d call him a monster, rightly so.

There was a point in every Christian's life where they hadn't yet submitted their life to Jesus.

Nah.  For most, there isn’t some God given epiphany where Christians (or any other religion) are touched and come to their faith.  Most Christians are Christian because of where they are born.  Most Muslims are Muslim because of where they are born.  Most Hindu are Hindu because of where they are born.  Rinse and repeat.

The rate of conversion is consistent across religions.  That would be true if one was God favored over others.

This is a very eloquent way of expanding out why you need a savior in the first place. If you are a Christian and believe in the God of the OT and Jesus Christ, then you understand that even as you try to be a righteous and blameless man, you will fall short. Our creator, Father God is perfect and just and will not tolereate sin, so for us to have an eternal reconcilation with him, we needed a redeemer (savior, intermediary, sacrifice, whatever).

And Jesus paid it all, as the old hymn says.

    God is perfect?

The God who commanded genocide?  Who allowed the rape of virgins?  Who explicitly prescribed slavery?  Who killed children over a bet?

    That God?

  6. Maybe they were inflated, maybe they weren’t, no-one here is qualified to judge, but that article gets its info from (1) Honest Reporting, an Israeli pressure group that describes its mission as "combat[ting] ideological prejudice in journalism and the media, as it impacts Israel".  It has a decades long history of campaigns designed to silence criticism of Israel. It’s also targeted reporters, resulting in threat to them, from the AP, Reuters, NYT, CNN claiming they had foreknowledge of the Oct 7th attacks and claiming their accomplices with Hamas.  And (2) Henry Jackson Society a right wing, neoconservative think tank whose own founder calls it a far right, racist, anti-Muslim propaganda outfit.

So just as someone should be very hesitant to believe Hamas numbers, you should be equally hesitant about this article.

  8. Did anyone seriously think either side would hold to the terms of the “deal”?  Netanyahu was always going to do the bare minimum, if that, in an effort to provoke Hamas to break the deal and give him cover to finish off the strip and the people in it.  And because Hamas are dumbasses they fall for it.

My sole issue here is the complete inability to hold the Dems and the Harris campaign accountable for the demonstrable mistakes they made with regard to this specific topic. They fucked this up just as much as the people that felt disaffected by them. No one wants to talk about that, though, we'd rather just shit on the dumb brown people.

What in your mind should she have done to please the Palestinian Americans?  Specifically.  Condemn Israel completely?  Promise to cut all aid?

Had she done that would she have won?

In regards to biblical studies this dude knows his shit.

I know it's Rogan so, idk, if you don't like it quit being a pussy I guess.

He pretty much owned Billy Carson and disproved a lot of the bullshit that that dude has peddled.

Seems like a solid guy. YMMV.

I do think he's a *little* defensive on the whole reading ancient Sumerian thing and comes across a little insecure there but I think it's a good listen.

Meh, he’s your standard run of the mill apologist misconstruing actual critical scholarship to fit his particular theological view/agenda.  Besting Billy Carson in a debate is the equivalent of high schooler beating a 2nd grader in one on one.

For example:  claiming that the great Isiah scroll (a Dead Sea scroll) is “word for word” identical to the Masorectic text.  No actual scholar would make that claim (in reality well over half of the verses have variance between the two).  Huff does it to make an apologetic theological point as to the infallibility and divine transmission of  scripture.  I.e. “Look how amazing it is that over hundreds and thousands of years that it hasn’t changed even one word!”  And it worked, he got a “WOW!” out of Joe.

If I worked in DEI for an organization who receives money from the federal govt, I would be working to transfer to a non DEI dept yesterday. It’s obvious that defunding DEI will be a requirement to receive those funds.

This describes the non-profit that my wife works for to a tee.  They work in education and public health.  Every project has been shut down to scrub every mention of anything that could be construed to involve DEI.  They received instructions to remove all pronouns from signatures, not to discuss any issues regarding DEI on company email, and to remove from their personal social media any reference to the company as their employer (along with a plea to please consider the effect on the company and their colleagues when they post on social media).

They’ve furloughed those who have USAID related projects and placed everything else federally funded on hold (except to change all materials that may offend the new administration).

I have tried to start reading the bible as a New Years resolution. Beeing reading some of the OT. Pretty wild stuff and there is more to it than the sanitized stories we are taught in sunday bible school class as kids too.

My favorite part is when the “good” God murders all the innocent kids.

Tell me you didn’t read the article without telling me you didn’t read the article….

What’s the point?  You aren’t going to agree with any of it.  Both have moved farther apart on almost all issues.  There’s plenty of examples out there, this isn’t news to most people.  Women’s rights and immigration fuck the Republicans for sure.  It’s the rest they keep getting farther apart on but you and plenty others don’t see it obviously.  Literally posted a poll of democrats and their stance and how it’s changed.  There is no middle anymore on anything.

Could you be anymore of a pussy?  Just name one of your “plenty of examples”.

This tracks with my decidedly unscientific visit to my small, very red hometown in the Kansas Meth Belt a couple of weeks ago.  I was very surprised by the lack of enthusiasm for Trump compared to 4 and 8 years ago.  He’ll win because of the inertia of life long republicans and the poisoning of the mind against Dems that Fox News has perpetuated in the dominant older population (anybody with ambition/ability leaves and doesn’t come back).   Saw more Harris signs than I’ve ever seen for a Dem (including Obama).

Speaking of vanishing acts, is Walz still alive?  I haven’t seen or heard shit from him since the VP debate. Granted I’ve been a bit swamped since then so may have missed it.

Multiple campaign events/rallies each day (primarily swing states) plus interviews.  He was on Rich Eisen this week, Smartless the week before, the View next week
