  1. The last few years of test optional admissions has changed the game and applications were way up at most of the top 50/100 schools. I am sure some will go back to requiring it.

My oldest is a senior and was auto admit to UT. But his first choice was Miami and he got in. They had 50k applications. He is thrilled.

  2. I was in downtown Chapel Hill last night watching the game and in the aftermath on Franklin Street. It was electric before and during the game and pure happy insanity after. It will be a core memory for me. I hope they win tomorrow but nothing will beat the feeling of downing Duke and Coach K for the UNC fans.

I love watching them talk shit about the industry for 2 years and then bumble around in desperation flailing mode. Fuck Biden, Granholm and Psaki.

Please stop name-dropping and Cloak Rooming in this thread. Thank you.

U.S. oil crossed above $90 on Thursday for the first time since 2014 as demand for petroleum products surges while supply remains constrained.

West Texas Intermediate crude futures, the U.S. oil benchmark, gained more than 2% to trade as high as $90.23 per barrel. The last time prices were above the $90 mark was October 2014. International benchmark Brent crude rose 1.7% to trade at $91. Brent topped $90 on Jan. 26.

You are assuming that Trump has the balls to risk losing again, whether to Biden or whoever.  This, after Republican judge after Republican judge, and multiple Republican states/state legislatures didn't have his back after the 2020 election. His brand would take a huge fucking hit with another loss, and it would severely impact his ability to fundraise, which brings us to the next point. Edit: Just to reiterate: Trump felt like those Republicans betrayed him and helped "steal" the election as much as the Dems did.

Trump has learned he can rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign donations/PAC money outside of the elections, and he can do his rallies and get the people fawning all over him without the need to be tied down to the White House (which he hated) and Presidency.

Finally, Trump spent the past 18 months or so telling his followers that the election was going to be rigged, and then that it was rigged.  Plenty of MAGA types were not keen on voting prior to Trump, particularly prior to 2020, and their God King Emperor Trump told them that he couldn't win/didn't win because the Dems can rig the elections.  If you are full-on MAGA, why show up and vote in 2024 if Trump spent the past 4 years telling you the Dems rig everything and would steal the election from him?

Running and winning again in 2024 will keep him and his family out of prison and will bring an end to most investigations and even the ones it doesn't won't matter because the law won't matter because it won't be enforced. So I am sure that is a factor for him.

  6. I can't find an appointment anywhere for the next few weeks. Where are you guys going to get boosted? Any place doing walk ins? We tried walkin at Walgreens for 2nd shot and they said we had to book it via the app sitting there in the store (but there are no appts to book now.)

  7. A few years ago in Midland a homeowner shot and killed a police officer who entered his home after a false security alarm. He was charged with murder and just acquitted today. That is a non-guilty verdict I can get behind in a castle doctrine case.

The one this thread is about however, I cannot at this point.

if someone says theyre going to take your gun away and shoot you with it and then they try to do that you're going to get shot and likely not prosecuted. Especially when it is on your front porch.

Did he actually say this? And we can argue that taking the gun away when being threatened with one (including a warning shot) is self defense as well.

Shooter is still married apparently. To an appointed judge in Lubbock (Anne-Marie Carruth). The widow is going to go on a money grab.

Curious how that will look in both the civil cases (divorce and wrongful death (or whatever)). What side will Anne-Marie be on?

They are divorced. The judge has filed to keep their kids from him. She doesn't support her ex in this in any way.

I've got a feeling the prelude to this situation was dad drinking heavily during Thanksgiving then getting the bright idea of taking his kids back.

It happened the first week of Nov. It's only getting attention now because the family of the victim is speaking out, and because the name of the shooter was finally revealed in court docs when his now ex-wife filed a counter suit in the divorce.
