  1. Hardin House resident here. And it looks exactly the same as it did in the mid-90s.  💅

My kid is probably going to UT in the fall. If you haven't been there lately, the changes to West Campus changes are crazy. He will probably live at Callaway which I liken to the former Towers maybe.

Does Trump understand he already won Texas and winning by more does nothing for him?

Who am I kidding, of course he doesn't.

This is a loyalty test. It is hilarious.

Still should have someone there overnight. If not a fire, then maybe a medical emergency, or anything, really. If it is disclosed to the clients that your pet will not have any employee around overnight to handle emergencies, then I guess they knew what was going on and took their chances. If that isn't disclosed, I'd be very upset. In a facility that size and with that many animals, someone needs to be there at all times, IMO.

Yes it is disclosed. I don't disagree that having overnight staff there is the best practice in general. Apparently many boarding places don't have them. Hopefully that changes.

  4. My thought is that a sprinkler system and fire alarm would have done more good in this case than a person there overnight.

I live in Georgetown and have used this facility many times over the years. I know people who lost their dogs. I know the owner and his family and my kid knows some of the staff. It is extremely devastating for all involved. Georgetown is reeling.

The giant electrical transmission tower that sends major lines from west to east bank has fallen in the Mississippi. That provides 90% of power to Metairie and New Orleans. HUGE fuckup.

Also, power out and no good drinking water in both parish water treatment plants. Residents asked to limit water use so sewerage does not back up. Several week wait for power.

    How does this affect Tulane?

  6. Midland's numbers. They started in early August. No mask requirement just encouraged.

Ramsey said the numbers as of Wednesday morning were 1,017 cases, 552 of which were currently “active.” That makes this period the most impactful on the district during the pandemic, she added.

Ramsey said that the district is seeing an average of 300 to 400 absent staff members a day, which creates challenges for face-to-face learning because of the lack of willing substitutes and a smaller district support center (formerly the central office). Staff members also can include bus drivers, janitors and nutritional support, she said.

Census Quick Facts allows you to look up certain data on cities and counties with a population above 5,000. Most of the data, however, are from previous estimates, but they do show the 2020 population count in there. Notice that it's not the top line where you'd think it would be. It's going to take them a while to release, format, and load everything.

They also have a kind of clunky Tableau here where you can get stuff for counties and MSAs. Be sure to note that you can click on the subject matter you want to see. Those are the squares on the second line to the right of where it says United States.

    Thank you!

Interesting how off some of the estimates were. I wonder how much this will affect city planning and budgets.
