  1. So is it ok to keep calling out your stupidity and how dumb your takes are on everything, or is that being insensitive to the mentally ill?
  2. So just to summarize, you're accusing texasstrong of doing the thing that's literally named after you, and also admitting to be mentally ill?
  3. C'mon man, he shot 36% from deep this year, a nice improvement over his previous year percentage of 28%. Coach Smart put the ball in his hands for the last possession against Ok St and he came through for the win. He averaged 2 steals a game this year and put up a nice assist rate as well. There's a valid reason why NBA teams are interested. Of course it's not a certainty that he would be a first-rounder if he returns, but he's sure as hell not a first rounder in this draft either.
  4. Or maybe it was because Barnes himself said that it was a higher priority for him to get guys into the NBA than to win college championships.
  5. That's awesome for Zay that he was able to bring down that chunk of change. He was a fun player to watch here and I'm sorry he had to put up with late-era Barnes who thought that benching Myles Turner was a reasonable thing to do. Roach should definitely play one more year at UT. He would have a good team around him, be hyped as potential first team all-Big12, etc, and have a chance to be a star in next year's NCAA tournament. This is exactly the type of situation that we see good programs get a player like Roach to return. Under Barnes we pretty much never had a guy with any draft potential return. Seeing Roach buck that trend would be awesome.
  6. Wait players can be drafted AFTER the G-League? I thought those guys already went through the draft and were either unclaimed or drafted late.
  7. Size goes a long way in draft potential. He looked fairly dominant late in the season and in the tournament. Plus when a guy shows interest in going pro they often don't look back. The G League just raised its player salaries. We all know KU can match it, but will they?
  8. I've never seen Calixte play, so I could be wrong. He's listed at 187 lbs, which if none of that is fat, makes him a well-built athlete in the mold of Augustin, Baron Davis, Jameer Nelson, Kyrie Irving. But all other things being equal it's a pretty low chance he's anywhere near as good as those guys. He played in a bullshit low-major league and put up good, but not great numbers this year.
  9. I never said being undersized precludes anyone from being a great player. My point is it's a serious drawback that in order to make up for you have to be seriously great in other aspects of the game. TJ was obviously seriously great as a passer, floor-general, and timely scorer. Augustin had elite quickness and a pretty complete package as a PG. Abrams was a seriously great weapon from 3-pt range. Abrams, for example, had 118 made 3's on the season his junior year at Texas. Calixte put up 55 made 3's this year for Maine in his junior campaign. You can be undersized and make up for it in other ways. The Longhorns you mention are great examples, as are Iverson, Baron Davis, etc.. But among the myriad of high school level ball players who are undersized, it is very rare indeed to find ones that have enough other skills to make up for it and get to near NBA skill levels. Lack of height is in general a big obstacle to overcome. Looking at Calixte's stats, I don't necessarily see anything jumping off the page to tell me he is one of these special type guys.
  10. Calixte just 5'11". Good luck with that one, Sooners.
  11. No, I just come on here and post my ass off after looking at box scores in the Statesman. Yes, of course I watch the games. I watched just about every excruciating moment this year. I was a season-ticket holder from 2001 to 2010 but these days I watch on TV. Maybe the difference between you and me is I don't expect to see the Houston Rockets play when I tune in to an NCAA game. Did we suck at offense most of the year? Yep. Did we do a shitty job of boxing out most of the year? Yep. Did we allow to many layups and defensive breakdowns most of the year? Yep. But pretty much every college team this year outside of maybe Villanova struggled mightily in aspects of the game. We were still good enough to beat Elite 8 team Texas Tech, beat Sweet Sixteen team WVU, beat tournament teams Butler, Alabama, and TCU. We were still good enough to take the Elite 8 team Duke to OT, take Sweet Sixteen teams Gonzaga and Nevada to OT. Most all this without our best player Andrew Jones, and the WVU win without also our 2nd best player Mo Bamba. So yeah, I watch the games. Just unlike you, I know what I am looking at when I watch an NCAA game.
