They don't have to be.  They just have to continue to be single issue voters (abortion), which is actually and often a proxy for the white-fear bullshit noted in the Atlantic piece above.

The GOP has seen the recipe for success INSIDE the party.  And it looks exactly like Trump.  Say you're pro-life, use dog-whistles against minorities.  Lather, rinse, repeat, and WIN THE NOMINATION.

When it comes ballot box time....they'll vote for him again.  And then, in 2024, they'll vote for the NEXT Trump -- someone following his lead/pattern, and using the same recipe to cook up success.

"I'm pro life.  All these mexicans are crime-ing up our country!  All lives matter!"  Play that on repeat, collect White House.

How are you going to explain the pounding Rs are going to take midterms?

I called that the second he denied staying over night.  His wording was something like “and talking about this with other people, they reminded me I left immediately and didn’t stay.”  Tell tale for bullshit when someone attributes the assertion to someone else while reserving the right to claim a lack of memory to themselves in case evidence is uncovered.

Vox has a good article by Max Fisher that explains their rise in ifluence and speculates that the decline has occurred for sure with candidates like Trump and Cruz. About a 20 year reign. Its called Twilight of the Neoconservatives.

He saved Latin.  What did you ever do?

"Are we actually going to bemoan the death of the Czars?  They had multiple chances to govern in the interest of the people.  Burn it down!"

How do we feel about the Czars' replacement?

"Are we actually going to bemoan the ousting of the Shah?  He had multiple chances to govern more openly, without the secret police.  Burn it down!"

How do we feel about the Shah's replacement?

We can do this all day.  "Get rid of X" is a fucking stupid-ass desire unless you have a viable plan to replace it with something better.  We took an underperforming GOP and replaced it with a group that slings shit everywhere -- onto our food, our water....even in our raccoon wounds.  Even worse...I don't think that a new counterbalance will be formed.  Instead, our entire political culture is tilting to the extremes, with nothing in the middle.  Look at the kind of "enthusiasm" Trumpism is building on the other end -- a shitload of those folks think Bernie Sanders is the solution.

Sooner than you think, we're going to end up with modern versions of the Communist Party and Mussolini's Fascists running against each other.  Yay.  What a win.

Losing really bad forces the recentering is the point.

Whiny euro siren, wet streets, gray sky, shaky cam, overly dramatic crash.  3:1 that was Jason Bourne behind the wheel.

  6. Fernando Tatis hit two grand slams in one inning in 1999, a bit of trivia I was familiar with.  Just learned: off the same pitcher!  What did it take to pull a guy in the late 90s?

(that pitcher being former Ranger great Chan Ho)

The only way it's a passing thing is if we believe the olds dying off in the next 20 years will eliminate the majority inflicted.

I think it is. The average Fox News viewer is 68.  I say there is no way their indoctrination rate exceeds their death rate at this point.

What does them being Irish have to do with anything?

On the seventh day the Lord rested, but before that he did, he squatted over the side of England and what came out of him... was Ireland. No offense son.

So....y’all know he’s gonna win the seat, right? Not in spite of being a raging asshole...but because of it. It’s the GOP brand, and they wear it proudly.

I think the opposite.  They love these examples just because of how outrageous the are.  Everyone can stop just short of him, point at him, and make themselves feel good for not being a raging racist asshole like that guy.

So was Comey.  His actions WRT the handling of the Clinton investigation were directly influenced by a Russian intelligence operation.

Lulz.  Then I’ve been compromised too, because my comments on here are directly influenced by Russian operations.

  11. Re: flipping.  There is an underlying assumption there that person x is a preferable target for the fuzz than person y, so you get y to flip.  If that was the case here, it makes the investigation seem very political, which I don’t believe is the case.  So I don’t believe flipping is a goal.
