Best Quality Daughter is great. It's where The Granary used be in the Pearl. Chef is the original chef of Hot Joy when it was named the 7th best new restaurant in the US by Bon Appetit magazine. Loved the crab curry fried rice.

Also Hugman's Oasis is a new legit tiki bar on the Riverwalk. Problem with the place is it's tiny. Went Sunday in the afternoon right when it opened and it filled pretty quick.

I’m sorry but Hot Joy is/was one of the most overrated restaurants I’ve ever experienced.

Because 30 years ago it was mostly just the best Tex-Mex but in the last 20 and really in the last 5 IMO it's gone nuts in terms of variety in both fine dining and unique spots that would kill in the other cities.

4 kids are definitely hampering my current dining experience, but it does sound like there’s a lot of new options out there.

Pizza recs? My favorites in town are Miss Ellie’s, Capo’s, and Fralos. Haven’t tried Dough yet.

I’ve lived in SA for years and have never been to Blanco cafe or many of these other places yall are talking about. I mostly turn my nose up at SA Tex-Mex since I’m from the RGV, but maybe I’m being too harsh. Some of this shit looks/sounds really good.

I haven’t been since the pandemic hit but I did always love going to el bucanero, great seafood. If you can get over the long waits there at all times. Haven’t been to Traders Village in a while either, always good food to be found there.

Yeah I haven’t been to a lot of these places. Will have to try Blanco Cafe. El Bucanero is legit

Was just there last weekend. Definitely more people at the pool and beach. I’d say Saturday there were probably 30-40 people in and around the pool area in the afternoon.

Ate Sunday on way out of town at Blvd Seafood at 29th and Seawall. Was surprisingly good. Had a good looking brunch going although we were just keeping it simple. Had plastic screens up between tables for distancing. Will go back there again next time.

update- went back to blvd seafood for nice dinner. was excellent. is located next to public park so the atmosphere in and around the parking lot is "festive". seems there's a lot of pent up energy that needs to get out in galveston. it's a shame my kids didn't come. they could've seen people twerking in person for the first time.

If it takes courses, books, podcasts, lectures, tv specials, and/or rallies to explain the effect of racism to its victims, then perhaps “institutional racism” isn’t as pervasive or as costly today as it’s made out to be?

But there’s no money to be made by Mr Kendi and others from embracing progress or unity, thus all of the above modalities used to help white liberals and others “do the work”.

I'm not convinced that he confused them.  Libya is in civil chaos and disorder and so is Syria.  Both places are also subject to heavy Russian influence. They are, for purposes of that speech, interchangeable.

What are the lies upon lies?  Do we now know that the mutation chain is NOT totally consistent with an animal-to-species jump?  Would it not be possible that the mutations made such a jump possible, if not the most probable explanation?  He didn't say (at least in that clip) that there was no possibility of other modes of transmission.  He just said that the mutation sequence didn't rule out animal to human transmission.

He said it was totally consistent with animal to human transmission. And in a dismissive tone to me, but that might be my bias coming out.

It takes about six seconds to google a massive amount of information regarding your question.  Go do your own fucking homework, it will take you days (OK, for you, weeks) to absorb a fraction of it.

You spoke as though you were informed on this and could quickly communicate the immense value of gain of function research. I was just hoping to tap into your vast reservoir of knowledge on the subject.

This seems to be a popular bogeyman in these kerfuffles.  The average man on the street hears "engineered" and thinks "brewed in a test tube, most likely with nefarious intent".  I would argue that GoF research could be described as "engineering" a virus, in the sense that its characteristics are being amplified.  The thing is, that's not typically nefarious, and the base virus isn't made up out of whole cloth.  There is great value in this type of research, but of course, as with many things, with great power comes great responsibility.  Do the work, but be diligent about safety and containment.  It's possible the lab failed on this point.  Probable?  I don't know.

    What’s the value in it?

Even I'm getting bored of having this repeatedly pointed out. Let me know when it impacts something.

Is there now a Presidential gaffe/sounding like a dumbass limit here? That’s awesome. What an exciting development.

I don't know man.  I'm really wondering if I made the right choice now.

    No, no I'm not.

lol I don’t expect to change anybody’s hearts or minds. I’m more interested in when a change happens. Joe is clearly impaired. It’s all amplified when he’s outside the US/MSM bubble. I think the jet lag may be particularly hard on him.

Exactly. This exact same thing happened to us and we damned near rioted. Then my fat little brother just ate the whole box the next day after school while I was at football/baseball/basketball practice and the problem was solved, but still.

I don’t need a support group, sir. I self-medicate by buying my kids at least 2 boxes of the good shit when I do the shopping. We’re at a point now where my wife virtually insists on going to the grocery store herself because she can’t handle the Chocolate Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Churros I keep bringing home.

You keep enjoying your Special K and Cheerios, and leave the Oh’s and Cap’n Crunchberries to the people who know what to do with them.

    Trix all day.
