  1. Just found out that I work with a guy who has a little brother with a Hell of a Devil's River kayaking story.  Apparently he had a buddy die while they were kayaking down the river and they had to carry his body for a couple of days.  I think he said that it was a drowning.
Can be nuts out there. I'm 2 for 2 on good trips despite one of those killing my boat. Flash floods out of if nowhere though ..
  2. There are a couple islands just upstream from 973 if I'm remembering right. You could drag up past those though. Its probably only 5 or 6 miles from 183 down to there, but I hate that put in.

  3. If that were the case, the water in the pic wouldn't be green/blue. The Colorado runs muddy brown anytime there is rain.
1234. If it's the Colorado, my guess is it's above the dams in the hill country where it's flowing over rock instead of clay.
  4. Yeah, I've done the dam to halfway between smithville and la Grange, most of it multiple times, and never seen anything like that.

There are springs that come out of the side of cliffs, but nothing close to that. With a heavy rain, maybe, but the water would look more like chocolate milk on the Colorado.

The Colorado on the west side of the Rockies, lol?

  5. I think it's gorman falls in Colorado bend state park. I haven't been there in years though, and it wasn't following like that when I was there.

  6. My parrot is with the barnacles in the sea because she bit me ear.  Polly can go fuck herself and get eaten by shamu's 2nd cousin removed.
    clearly I was mistaken.
  7. When I took a tour of Temple Square in Salt Lake City, my two guides were a girl from Norway and a girl from Finland who both spoke English with pretty good accents. I told the girl from Finland that I stayed in the hostel located in the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki before and after I took a short trip to St. Petersburg, Russia, so...

So this pretty much ties the last 2 pages up nicely by including Mormon missions*, a girl from Norway, times spent in Helsinki, and side trips to Russia.

*EDIT: Just realized that I was combining what I read on the Texas Summer Football Thread about Angilau with the Texas Recruiting Notes 2019 thread.

  8. Thanks for the invite, but I'm working 70+ hour weeks these days. The only water I'm seeing is the water I'm drowning in.

Are you the reason from the old board?

  9. I actually believe a large segment of the population believes racism is a problem of the past. This thread and these incidents remind us that it still exists, and in more ways that overt I hate black people kind of way. Subconcious racism is hard to fight, especially when an effort isnt made to identify it. If you dont think racism is institutionalized in our society, you need this thread more than you think.
    Well said.
  10. There was once an epic fishing trip with Doc, Patrick McHorn, Jiggy-z, Snow Dog (who swamped his wife’s car),Tapdancingkungfumaster and about five others that was fantastic. The norther that came through was brutal. Jiggy taught us how to build a Quonset hut in 10 minutes. We ate Snow Dog chili tacos the next morning and I drove Docs truck back the next morning back to Austin. Shit in his guest bathroom and he was divorced a few weeks later. I see why Doc hasn’t been in touch, he lost all his custom rods and a crazy Lubbock chick all in one shot.
That was a fun trip. Felt so bad for doc. Looked up and his rods were gone. Wtf
  11. What's the timeline for this?  My daughter is only 10 but she'll answer the "what do you want to be when you grow up" question with "veterinarian".  And I couldn't take her going to aggy if this holds up.
Had a conversation with my 13 year old several years back along those lines. Tried to start getting her excited about uc Davis, lol.
  12. You're doing blain wrong.
The only time I've met blain (right after the Wimberley flood), he set up his smoker in my driveway early in the morning, and when I got back that afternoon sweaty, dirty, and exhausted, he had the best beef ribs I've ever tasted ready.  I don't even have a word for how awesome they were.
    *THAT'S^ how you do blain.
I am doing Blaine wrong, the last time I was with him, he almost killed me passing on a two-lane road, but beers were drunk, and kayaks were used, so all in all a pretty solid day.
