Yeah. Never start penciling people onto the roster until after the draft.
It is kind of hilarious how different the baseball draft is from the football draft. The football draft is a moment of pride, to celebrate the accomplishments of our player development. The baseball draft is where our fondest hopes go to die.
First day of class... or are they even still going to class at this point?

Two SEC teams in the CWS and we desperately need both to lose. Arkansas because they are evil and LSU because we don't want one of our chief rivals picking up a 8th national title.
I hope the rest of the field is up to it.
I believe UCLA is.

QuoteFor what it’s worth, Schlossnagle won’t have full control over Texas’ 2026 non-conference schedule either. The Longhorns are already set to open that season with a three-game series at the University of San Diego, the winner of two of the last three West Coast Conference Tournaments. The series is part of a home-and-home agreement that brought the Toreros to Disch-Falk Field to start the 2024 season.Schlossnagle also confirmed that Texas will participate in next year’s six-team Astros Foundation College Classic at Daikin Park, an event expected to take place during the third weekend of the season. The Longhorns first pitch against Louisville is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT from Globe Life Field.
There is a chance that the already scheduled San Deigo trip could be canceled/adjusted.
QuoteAstros Foundation College Classic: The three-day, six-team tournament held at Daikin Park in Houston, TX, the home of the Houston Astros, is in need of one team to fill the 2026 tournament field. We do offer a competitive guarantee for the weekend. For more information, please contact tournament scheduling coordinator Steve Grande at sgrande@astros.com. (posted 2/9) -

My problem is that this is the ONLY time of year I would use it. This weekend only. I don't give a shit about any other sports I would need it for.
Then have if for a month. Next weekend will also be reacharound games...

I expect UTSA to fire all the bullets they reasonably can tonight. You do not want to play conservative and have it all come down to one game tomorrow.
I expect likewise from us as well. LFG.

Well second game is at night. UT teams in the past have done it.
My first road Texas baseball game was the 1998 Tempe regional. Texas came through the losers bracket. It was the first time it ever dawned on me I could go to a road game. Many happy returns later. It was bloody hot and my boots stuck to the asphalt when I crossed the street, and they kicked us out of the stadium between games and I did have a car, so I went to the first hour of the next movie starting, Mission Impossible II. I've never seen the end of that movie. The ASU fans said that I should come back when it was hot. They also complained that Texas was going to have to play the super regional opponent here in Tempe next week. Neither of those things ever happened. </bill littleesque>

Savage at UCLA might not be the coach as he is not under contract after this season. There is also the whole stadium limbo thing, UCLA needs to decide if they are going to be serious about the program or not.
