  1. Straight out of the NCAA definition for "targeting":

    Quote

No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder

. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:

    • Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area
    • A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground
    • Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area
    • Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet

Targeting was the right call based on the literal words in the NCAA's rulebook. Note the key portion "when in question, it is a foul"

  2. hold up what the fuck just happened? USC caused a fumble, got the ball, and then a really deep pass to Texas 30-ish. I had to go help suction snot out of my baby daughter's nose, I come back, and Texas has scored a TD and USC has NOT. ?????

  3. I went there from 2009 until 2014 and I have no idea what you are talking about. I worked my ass off. Wait...you are not talking about the school here...
You are making academic decisions based on the football team? That is insane.
Seriously with that "not the cultural values of my family" crap thought he meant UT is too liberal or something until I realized he meant our football team is lazy therefore our math department is.

  4. There’s been a cultural shift. I’m not just pulling it out of my ass. My dad went in the late 70’s, brother went in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and I graduated last year. I don’t want my sisters going to a school that’s not supportive of their upbringing and cultural values. The place went soft and everyone walks around like they hung the moon from the day they arrive on campus. The only hard workers come from backgrounds where they couldn’t care less about athletics. The support from current students is not there and that will have exponentially greater effects in the coming years. We’ve turned into Michigan. The “we’re Texas” mentality is horse shit and does the university no favors.

We’re not developing football players because most of them show up without the required work ethic to be elite. They got their UT scholarship and they live it up in Austin. Those guys in Norman aren’t having that problem.

I am ashamed someone as braindead as you went to my school. Surely you couldn't have graduated though.

  5.  Serious question need advice. If you were a few days away from having your first child, would you continue to watch this shit show every Saturday or would you sit this season out so that the baby has a fair entrance to the world that is not clouded by rage and frustration ?

You won't even turn the TV on. You'll be distracted. Unless you live in a big ass house and expect your wife to do everything, you'll be so scared about waking the baby and creating more work for yourself.

I'm a movie buff. I think in my daughter's 16 months, I've watched TWO movies at home. The TV almost never goes on. Now that she's older, I feel ok putting tennis on. Today was the first UT game I've watched since 2016.

  6. It's weird but I think it's relevant. Sex toys sent to your place of employment is odd and certainly signals that Urban had little control/oversight of the program.

You don't ever have packages sent to work so they're not stolen off your porch? Does your boss know what you've ordered?

  7. Fascinating stuff and fun time to be alive or entertained by political theatre and common people who invest themselves into it.

    Cynicism is cowardly

  8. Yep, and you can smell them through the internet
Wool is better than cotton for odors fwiw. The protein in the wool fiber is antimicrobial, which is why it's so popular with backpackers and fitness people. Also the core of a wool fiber is hydrophilic, while the exterior is not, so it absorbs sweat and pulls it from your skin simultaneously. Wool really isn't bad for the heat so long as it's not heavy. I have wool t shirts I wear regularly in the heat.

  9. Bull shit.  There is endless abuse of the system...some are more flagrant than others.
"Need" is a misnomer.  We've graded on the curve for so long that we've confused want with need.
People used to live with out A/C.  People used to live without phones.  People used to live without TV or endless other luxuries we now have.
If people really want these things...and just like myself, I'm sure they do...they can do what I do for them.  Go to fucking work.  Save their money.

The hard truth is that if you provide people with the ability to avoid the consequences of their decisions...there is no limit to the number of horrific decisions they will make.
That's true of children, adults, whites, blacks, individuals of all colors and creeds,, corporations, Government employees, National Banks, and even me.
And there is no justice in burdening the responsible left among us with the costs of the seemingly endless irresponsible.

BTW...America is the greatest country ever...if you think there are better, by all means feel free to go live there.  I promise...we won't miss you, we've got an endless supply of dip shits these days, it'll be like you never left.
Yeah and people used to die from the heat. And then the Earth for even hotter. And then you had to have a phone to apply for jobs. Shall I continue, because you picked a really stupid set of hills to die on

  10. I actually appreciate that part...
    Hell, I wish they'd shut down 50% of it...permanently.
Which half? Let me guess: the stuff you think only lazy blacks benefit from.

  11. I think the Dems should dump billions into Beto...
He's your Wendi Davis...if Davis had no name recognition or national hype.
I've never understood the Cruz hate.  In a profession where most are just flat out liars with no rudder, Cruz is pretty damn consistent about who he is and what he'll do.
Not perfect...but he bats way above the average in DC.  The fact that he's not liked by most of the swamp critters tells me he's doing the Lords work.  If I went to DC for 2+ years and spent most of my time with our elected officials, and at the end of that time they didn't hate me...I think I'd shoot myself.
Well Cruz likes to shut down the government for one

  12. Y'all are all bitches. Unless I'm trying to perform at peak athleticism, I'll take triple digit weather if it means I don't have the ass temps I put up with in northern winters. It is therapeutic to step outside and sweat my cares away drinking a cocktail
