If Ms. De Havilland kicks the bucket before 2019, then I'll replace her with Johnny Fucking Football. 26.

You are not understanding my question.

No. According to the rules, if Olivia kicks the bucket in 2018, you will choose a replacement and a bonus selection. So Johnny Fucking Football Manziel as replacement and another for the bonus.

My question: OdH has a point value of -2. If Olivia dies before 2019, does the -2 carry into 2019?

I think it should because a person choosing someone with a negative point value is obviously looking for a sudden death and the bonus. Interesting strategy; however, if Livvy lives into the next year .... well, let's look at the bright side. Maybe she will be administered an overdose or choke on a ham sandwich within the next thirteen days. You're still down by -2 but you have an extra player on your team!

As far as I am concerned, the current score is Stoogey, 0 and Walden, -2.

    Olivia de Havilland - 102

Does the person who dies before midnight December 31 count towards the 2019 score? Or just replacement and bonus selection?

Source of DOB & age - Wikipedia (also a good way to determine if someone is famous, cuz if they don't have a wiki page then you might get protests)

Disagree. That means C Struggs and Cutthroat Chip-O are scratches for 2018. These lists should be posted as soon as possible if a pooler wants to take advantage of the bonus selection. Someone questions celebrity status? More than enough time to discuss. Burden of proof for age is on the pooler.

Also, also, shouldn't it be pronounced Ab-see-dee, not Ab-city?

Give her another ten or fifteen years and it'll be pronounced O—bee—city.

  3. Cary Grant (January 18, 1904 — November 29, 1986) and Ralph Bellamy (June 17, 1904  November 29, 1991).

From the film His Girl Friday, one of the best screwball comedies.
Walter Burns (Grant) ad libs his line as he tries to describe Bruce Baldwin (Bellamy):

"He looks like that fellow in the movies ... you know ... Ralph Bellamy!"

East of Eden is probably my favorite book right now. Steinbeck is such an amazing writer.

Just finished East of Eden. Holy hell that was a great book. Why have I never read Steinbeck before?

I had to read The Red Pony in seventh grade and was so bored out of my mind that it turned me off to Steinbeck.  I read Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden in my thirties and was blown away.

Have you guys read The Winter Of Our Discontent ?

  5. This reminds me of a funny joke.

Three missionaries are captured by natives. The chief gives them a choice. Death or ooga-booga.

The first missionary thinks to himself that he is a young man and has his whole life in front of him to serve the lord. He chooses ooga-booga. "Ooga-booga!" And five natives buttfuck him.

The second missionary is shocked but reasons he is middle aged and still has many years to serve the lord. He chooses ogga-booga. "Ooga-booga!" And twenty natives buttfuck him.

The third missionary said, "I am old and have spent my life performing the lord's work. I choose death."

    "Death by ooga-booga!"

My father and I watched The Heidi Bowl. Oakland scored two touchdowns in the final minute to win the game. Never got to see it.

The Dalai Lama is a Badger fan. I wish he'd do something about their football team.

And I woulda thought the Government woulda took it because "artifacts."

That might be the way it works in the USA but you're wrong about English law. In fact, Prince Charles was so moved by Lawes' generosity, he influenced a change regarding finding artifacts in which the landowner is legally entitled to a share.

We had a Fort Washington then?  Presumably named after George?

Yep. And Fort Lee, originally Fort Constitution on the opposite side of the Hudson River, was renamed after General Charles Lee in September 1776.

Because he was a nice guy, Lawes splits his share of the £1.75m reward 50 - 50 with the farmer on whose land he found it.
