My only rule, was my money was not going to Norman Oklahoma. If one of my kids wanted to suck, then they could pay for it.
Ive already come to the realization that most likely my daughter will be an aggy. She’s wanted to be a large animal vet as long as I can remember. She is a junior in high school now and I’ve already informed her that when the family comes to visit we will be wearing burnt orange. At least my sons got his head on straight. He is a junior in the aerospace engineering program at UT.
You could let her go to Auburn for Vet school, they have a great program. Of course she would still be in a cult, the Auburn "fambly" is strong.
The only positive I could see would be there are probably few barn fans around you unlike the aggie cult.

Didn't the leadership at OSU pay Urban to teach a class on Leadership and Ethics when he resigned after the Zack Smith debacle? I'm sure this episode was "research" for his upcoming "must read" book on the subject.
His book will probably be a best seller. A must read for all douche bags.

I just saw a Twitter post of the aggie midnight yell practice or whatever before the MSU game. Also one of their "annual" running of the sheep.
What the actual Hell did I see? They have to shield their recruits from such "Traditions" or they would never get any decent players. Every disgusting thing I've ever read on here doesn't even begin to do it justice.

In 2010 Bama played six SEC opponents who had a bye week before playing them. I don't think they were consecutive though. The Conference has since changed the scheduling so that it doesn't happen. I think something like three is the most now.

Yes I actually do as much as possible. It was an attempt at humor/sarcasm. This site is the second place I go to for all my CFB sports discussion right after RBR. I don't comment a lot, but joined the Shaggy Bevo back in 2009. Lots of good analysis, comments meltdowns, etc. here.

Yeah it was the buyout that dictated when he was let go not whatever was going on with Urban Meyer.
So with all the money Texas has, they set the new coach back a recruiting cycle to save money?

I'm not surprised the least. Hiring a highly successful offensive coordinator who flamed out at not one, but two power five schools accumulating a 46-35 record along the way with an absolutely horrendous record on the road was not a surprise to this guy. Should've held on to Herman for one more year waiting for a home run hire to become available than kicking the tires on some bum with a flashy social media campaign some moron in the marketing dept contrived all gas no brakes baby!!!! Anyone that bought into that was a guppy.
If they were going to fire Herman anyway (and apparently the bowl game win didn't matter) they should have fired him before the early signing period. By waiting until January 2nd to do it they put Sark behind in recruiting his guys. I don't remember but how good of a class had Herman signed at that point?
The leadership didn't help the new coach out by doing that. UNLESS Herman and Sark wanted exactly the same players.

I'm interested to see how the NIL shakes out given three or four years. As a couple of posters already said when the craziness and bad judgement from 18-20 year olds with more money than they ever dreamed possible get in trouble and reflect badly on sponsors. Maybe the money will go back to the more reasonable amounts most expected instead of making millionaires from young people who haven't done anything but sign a scholarship offer.

I would have to agree with your criteria. But Bama is situated in a pretty good place bordering Florida, Georgia, and only a few hours from Louisiana. Of course you have to have coaches/recruiters to take advantage of the close proximity to the recruiting hotbeds.

Give the man time to get through a couple of recruiting classes. Once he does I have no doubt we will put up Alabama 2020 type of numbers. Hook’em!
As a Bama fan who also likes the Longhorns and Sark I came here to post this. I don't think your team is as bad as many of the commenters on here think.
Sabans first team struggled with people buying in/changing the culture. Even a legacy player who should have been an asset was a problem. I was screaming about him weekly needing kicked off the team to make an example of.
Culture change is unlikely to completely happen this season. The sense of entitlement, complacency, or whatever that often infects the Blue Blood programs and that includes Texas takes time to change. It took Bama three coaching hires between Stallings and Saban to get it done.
I like Sark, and think he will be a good coach given time. I am certainly hoping so. Herman was fired late in the recruiting cycle, well after the early signing period so Sark started out way behind this year.
I hope y'all will give it a little time and settle in for an exciting ride in2021,
I think the Longhorns walked into a buzzsaw Saturday night. Something no one expected nor saw coming. In the long run this could be a turning point to get the team to focus and buy in.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the season with great interest in the 'Horns 2021 season.

In regards to Rush Propst when he was at Hoover, he had a family in Hoover and another in Georgia. Wives and kids in both places. When Bama/Saban had a background check done on him when considering hiring him at Bama this came to light.
He was fired at Hoover and moved to Georgia and was successful until he got himself fired there.

I kind of want this to happen now. Him dying from chewing out a db. It’d be the most Saban way to die ever. But he’s probably like palpatine where he’s been building clones of himself for years
Seriously, you have to think at some point Sabans age will become an issue in recruiting. Despite his good health it will happen at some point. Maybe he sees the drop off in recruiting and hangs it up before staying too long like Bowden did.

I don't think Saban's ego will let him retire until he's got so many titles that not even Bear Bryant is mentioned in the same breath with him. He'll die in his office in 2032 while on the phone with a bag man who's on his way to buy a 5-star cornerback to be a backup for the next two years.
I don't know the man, but he seems to be wired like so many are, he would die in a couple years or less if he retired. Of course he could also fall over on the sideline while chewing some OC out for calling some stupid play while up by fifty points. So you have that possibility as well.

He was an assistant coach at Bama under the Bear. He is the one credited with getting Joe Namath to come to Alabama. Always seemed like a good guy. RIP coach.

So who will try to twist Bijan’s ankle? Will the big 12 officials look the other way again?
Missouri is the worst I've ever seen at this. BUT isn't Barry Odom the piggies DC now? If so I'm sure they're doing that sort of thing. He is a piece of crap.

I read on RBR that Alabama LB Ben Davis is grad transferring to Texas. I was looking for confirmation on here. He was a very highly rated recruit coming out of High School. He played for tiny Gordo High School. Very athletic looking guy that just never made the leap in college.
By all accounts he's a great teammate. His dad still holds the career tackling record at Bama. He played '83-'86 and his record is 327.
I wish him well and hope he balls out at UT.

I used to wonder why the active constant obsession of The Longhorns hatred of the aggy. Because as much as any good Bama fan hates the barn, it's mostly just understood hate unless/until something happens or game time.
After I have experienced the aggy fanbase on an annual basis I understand it. After the first year where a couple of Johnny 8balls YOLO passes won them a game, suddenly they're part of the conference "elite". Despite the fact they really haven't won a game of importance since. All that win got them was a big contract and buyout for Rumlin.
I don't care enough to look it up, but I don't think they've even went to a NY6 Bowl because they were the Conference runner up and got to go because the other team ahead of them went to the playoffs. They've certainly never been to the conference Championship game
When aggy came to the SEC I was ok with it, but would have rather had Texas. Too bad there is a no return policy on discounted sale items.

I pretty much just take the losses in stride today, but the one that still stands out in my mind is the 1980 Bama vs Miss State game. Bama was riding a 28? game winning streak, the score was 6-3 Miss St. Bama was down on the goal line about to punch it in at the end of the game
FB Johnny Davis who had never been held to no gain was stuffed twice for no gain, might have lost a yard. Bama ended up fumbling and lost the game. I was physically sick and my newlywed wife had just been through her first CFB season with me. I realized I couldn't allow a game to cause me so much negative behavior. I was physically sick over a game...for a few days. I don't allow them to bother me since.
Also I grew up listening to the Atlanta Braves baseball in the late 60s early 70s, they were always terrible but rarely was a game on TV so radio was all we had. all my friends and I were huge Braves fans. I said that to share how the Braves later affected me.
In the 90s when the Braves were good, went to the WS and won the first one I was elated. they went back several times losing them all. A great Dynasty that never was.
I was so disgusted I quit watching Baseball till this day.

I want the best guy to play. i want us to kick the shit out of others teams so the back up gets in the game a lot and has meaningful snaps. I want to win and win big.
The backup QB is ALWAYS the best QB. Rarely makes dumb decisions from the bench.

I was traveling through the Atlanta airport in Dec. '92 I think it was. I had a couple of hours between flights and Marty, His wife and one of their sons were heading to Florida for Christmas. I recognized him and struck up a conversation with him. Their flight got delayed so we spent over an hour talking, he was very down to earth and didn't seem to be bothered by my talking to them. His back was hurting and he stretched out on the floor. I talked with his wife for a long time. The whole family was that way.
I became a fan of his after that encounter. RIP Marty.

I enjoyed the article about Sark. I'm a fan, been pulling for him to get his life on track and seems to have done it. I doubt Saban would have put his trust in him if he wasn't getting it together. He seems like a genuine, likeable person and I hope he does well. The Sooners need some real competition in the Conference.
Do y'all think Herman would have been fired as late as he was in the season/year if his recruiting hadn't went so badly?

Herman is radioactive. He won't be getting a job for at least a year I'd bet. I'm not even sure Saban would hire that dude.
I've wondered if Tom would be humble enough to come to the Saban fired coaches rehab program. I know after Ohio State beat Bama in 2014 during the offseason some of Bamas staff picked Toms brain about his offensive philosophy.
Saban does seem open to learn whatever he can from coaches who have done well. Even arrogant or immature ones. And I believe Tom could learn from the rehab clinic.
