Fuck ucla- this is what they get for hiring a guy with almost no experience because he was an alum. We all love Ricky Williams and Vince Young but wouldn’t trust them to put together a competitive football team. If coaching was easy everyone would have a good team. We wouldn’t have struggled for the last decade, aggy may actually be able to do something productive with the talent they’ve been overpaying for the last several years. The most embarrassing thing for ucla was not hiring Foster (which was embarrassing by the way) but not cutting their losses sooner and firing him and bringing in someone competent.
I remember hearing on the broadcast that Flood’s lines generally have more trouble with smaller athletic D lines like SJSU than the big fronts you’ll see in the the SEC. Don’t get me wrong, a team like Texas shouldn’t have guys grading in the 40’s against any D line. Just an observation made during the broadcast. Flood may be an excellent recruiter but his lack of development has been concerning.
Interesting- I was thoroughly disappointed with Clark yesterday after reading hype during camp. I wish Gibson could hold onto the ball because he looked like our best runner yesterday.
There’s an interesting conundrum in college football these days. Are you better off throwing a bunch of money at your roster and keeping your shitty coach (a la Florida and Michigan) or are you better off biting the bullet and firing your shitty coach and using a chunk of that money for the roster on buying out coaching staffs?
I still think we’re going to improve tremendously this season. Arch will not keep throwing passes into the ground. We probably score 2 more TD’s in this game if penalties don’t stall drives. I’m still worried about play calls, especially the shitty wide receiver screens. I wish Sark would let Arch run the same play book as Ewers last season.
