That’s kinda what I meant by I think he got a good deal at 10k over. I wouldn’t think the GTS would pull that kinda premium.

I just got rid of the Panamera GTS from a lot of pages ago on here and it dropped about 40k in 2 years.  But, that’s a Panamera and not a 911.

ps, for those of you that said a Panamera was a terrible dad car (i think goofy and g650)...I’m not saying you were right. But, certainly not saying you were wrong either.  Cool car but about as practical as a 911.

As a panamera gts driver i have to disagree.  Of course i only have one kid, but it's pretty damn easy to haul everything he needs along with a buddy or two while hauling ass.  I love the thing and find it a more than practical and useful daily driver/kid hauler compared to the 911 i drove daily for damn near 15 years.  Is it perfect?  No.  Is it a damn good compromise for someone who spent decades of seat time in a 911?  absofuckinglutely.

  3. Not sure i can classify it as "houston", but i was on my way out to la grange two weeks ago on a turkey hunt.  I stopped by at Doziers to check in on champkind, and to see how his operation is going.  I can tell you he has that place is freaking phenomenal form.  A walk through the kitchen on the way to a tour of the pit room showed a level of cleanliness that would rival any open kitchen fine dining establishment.  It was exceptional.  They are running a very tight ship there.  He's got several varieties of pit at his disposal and has them all pegged exactly to optimal temp for the dedicated proteins for each.  Dude is happy as a pig in shit out there, and is cooking the best bbq of his extremely successful career.  We bought meet and sides for 15 people and received universal rave reviews.  Many of you ate at Pappa Charlies and Bucks so you know champ can sling meat with the best of them, but i am telling you he has raised his game.  Whatever you think is your favorite or best houston bbq, just hold on a bit and get out to see Champ and sample what he is doing.  It will change your mind.  Super happy for him.

On the 911 front, what do folks think about 991.1 vs 991.2?  Seems like many prefer the NA engine to the turbos in the 16+?  How about PDK vs stick?  I want a stick, but looking around they are hard as hell to find.  Is the PDK robust?  Any must have options?

I have a porche with pdk and one with a manual.  I drove the stick for 14 years as a daily driver.  I now drive the pdk as a daily.  THeir version of the PDK is simply the best transmission in a production car, and yes i have tried the ferrari, lambo and mcclaren versions.  THe porsche unit is the hands down winner here.  If you're going to use the car as a daily get the PDK.

Did you have TC on?  They will definitely break loose. But, I do agree that they are engineering it out. 997 was definitely looser than the 991.

yes, but that was because it was required to be on by the company holding the event.

    I'm aware.

What I mean is, after driving FWD for 20 years, and RWD for the last 10, I still kind of have to remind myself that I can use throttle steer with a RWD car.

That lift-throttle oversteer in the 911 is such an unusual behavior that it probably takes lots of time to remind yourself not to let up in a curve or turn.  No matter how intellectually conscious of that notion you may be.

it's not so much a thing anymore.  they have pretty much engineered that out of it starting with the 996, and it has gotten better every iteration.  It takes a ton to break loose the ass end of my 997C2S.  i had a 991 GT3 out on the track and couldn't break that one loose even trying to do it.

    Public school baseball or private?

Comal ISD does 60/90 for 7th and 8th grade baseball and falls under NFHS standards. Granted, its been a few years so maybe the middle school rules have been modified.

    Private.  8th plays 60/90.  7th is 54/80

  8. Pepper Jr is playing Intermediate Little League (50/70) and school ball 54/80.  So far no issues.  LL thus far he is 2/2 at the plate with 2 walks, 1 double and 1 HR.  He actually hit 3 out of the park last night, but two went foul down the LF line.  The other was in the LC alley.  He's 1/2 for his school team with a single and a K.  the K was pretty rough at the 2 strike pitch was above his letters.  He shouldn't have swung at it since it wasn't close.  He's pitched from both distances at given up nothing so far.  Off to a good start.

  9. I have a new larue 65 Grendel with 18 inch barrel and a Larue 300 blackout with 14 inch barrel.  I need optics for both.  Don't think i need to spend a fortune on either but what do i know.  What is the surly consensus here?

  10. Got first dose yesterday and very glad since it is reported they have now run out in houston.  Distribution should be better, but it appears we are vaccinating  ~1 million per day for the last week or so.  Not bad, but not enough.  not sure how it is possible to get more out there.

It's way too old. If you are playing 50/70 at 13 you will more than likely not be playing at 15.

54/80 is ideal for 13 year olds on a 300+ field. I believe every other organization except Little League uses these dimensions for 13 year olds.

Little League Majors should cut out the 12 year olds and funnel them to Intermediate because 46/60 is ridiculous for 12 year olds. Once again, most of the other organizations are at 50/70 for 11 and 12 year olds.

They need to make Intermediate the new Majors division by demoting the Majors to younger players and making Intermediate the division for 11/12 year olds. This would put LL on par with Pony baseball.

yep.  we played 54-80 all fall for tournament ball and it was fun.  At least it was on the fields with proper fences.  When we played on fields that are geared to be 60-90, but had alternative mounds for 54/80 it wasn't as good since the fences were way too big for 13 year olds.  Now we will be playing Intermediate for LL  and going back to 50-70.  I cannot imagine the poor bastards who have to face pepper junior from 50 feet.

I think that’s where I’m going to end up.  Small chance I might end up with a Knights Armament, but I’ve got it narrowed to the final 2-3...I think.

Larue, KAC, and DD.  I think. Still studying.

I ordered this thing first week of july.....just saying, be ready for a loooong lead time if you go with Larue.  I ordered a 300 blackout for my son on the same day, and it still hasn't shipped.

  13. This off season will be worse believe it or not.  Springer is gone, Verlander is done as an Astro, Osuna is done as an astro, Brantley is done as an astro.  Not sure click has been made aware, but he has no outfielders who are plus fielders at the moment with Reddick also done as an astro.  Correa should have been traded last year when he had some value.  We have no draft picks due to the suspension.  It's going to be a graveyard for the foreseeable future.

I believe the ten team conference with no conference champ should be the model.  Play a round robin so teams like NU and OU play every year.  Should have been these ten teams and it would have been a damn good conference

OU, Texas, Nebraska, A&M, Colorado, Kansas, Okie State, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Missouri.

    No Baylor.  No KSU.

14 or 16 conferences are just stupid.  A&M gets a home game against Florida, Georgia and Tennessee once every 12 years.

replace ISU with arkansas and that would be solid.

Went to Ostia on Dunlavy on Saturday for lunch.  Will be going back.

We shared the caeser salad, Mussels w/ white wine/butter/jalapeno and some big crusty bread, and a 4 cheese pizza bianco.

Food was great, weather was perfect, great patio and we ran into an old server friend of my wife's family

if you didn't get the carbonara there you need to correct that tactical error immediately.    nevermind.  you said ostia.  I was thinking antica osteria on bissonnet.  we are hitting ostia friday night.

  16. We came away with our 2nd win of the year last night.  We have won 2 and punched out in the semis twice.  Unlike past years when we beat everyone with dominant pitching and hitting we are now winning with pitching and defense.  THe move to 54 feet on the mound has mean we do not strike out as many batter, and has meant the defense has to had to get meaningfully better and it has.  Pep Jr threw the semi final game yesterday and went 6 ip, 2H, 1R, 8k, 67 pitches.  Definitely solid.

My kids aren't very good so they are on the shitty AA teams y'all are destroying.  We play USSSA though.

we were terrible when we started as well.  Team has now been together for 5 years and we are about as good as any team around at the AA level.  We are an upper lever AAA team, and not even competitive against Majors teams.  It's a weird dynamic how much better those Majors teams are.
