The series is okay, nowhere near the same ballpark as Narcos.Β  It could be that the story isn't as compelling, but even with that, I don't think it's done as well.Β  I think they tried to compress everything into 6 episodes and it seems like the story jumped around too much.

Yeah, my wife and I finished it last night. It was okay, but not nearly as good as the Narcos series.Β

Maybe I missed it, but who is this Texas team other are referencing?

Often Jeffcoat saved his best for the playoffs: in 12 games, including four Grey Cups, he got to quarterbacks 12 more times – a higher rate, even, than his more decorated Texas teammate.

  3. Seems promising. From the people who brought you Narcos. Based loosely on the real life of Griselda Blanco, a woman from MedellΓn, Colombia, who ran a Miami-based drug cartel.

Maybe 3.Β  That doesn't change the fact that I felt better on January 2, 2005 about the upcoming season than I did on January 2, 2006 about the upcoming season and I feel better today about the upcoming season than I did in the winter of 2006 after winning it all. I got well actually'd and when that happens I need the person to actually be correct and me wrong or I push back.

I think OSU over Texas is a stupid and terrible idea, but whatever- you are probably right it might well happen.Β  Oregon over us would be legit dumb.Β  I think Texas has the best roster in CFB going into the 2024 season (and we fuck Georgia's shit up in Austin as a bonus prediction), especially if something interesting shakes loose on the interior DL like you've basically promised us was going to happen (I know- you didn't- I'm putting words in your mouth and wish casting a bit).Β

… Texas hadn’t finished the season on January 2, 2006.Β

On the IT podcast, Wadlington was discussing the SEC-B1G discussion. He said he expects the outcome to be- in exceptional years, the B12 or ACC might get two teams in the CFP, but not both in the same year. If FBS doesn’t like it, they’ll split off.Β

Who will split off, the B1G/SEC or the ACC/B12?

I grew up in Chicago and went to the Chicago Bears training camp when I was something like 6 years old and got a picture with the guy.Β  As a result, he was one of my favorite Chicago Bears along with Payton and Singletary.Β  Congrats to a Longhorn legend (who I didn't even know went to UT until I saw this thread)!Β Β

That’s understandable. You knew him as Mongo, but his nickname at Texas was Bam Bam. He was one half of The Freer Twins (Bill Acker was the other twin).Β

  11. I’m only on a statin, but I take a bunch of supplements. I’m seeing the doctor on Friday about a couple of things, so my statin might have some company soon.

I don't know; but I would wonder how much additional staffing (in your graph it is staff in public elementary and secondary i.e. K-12) is due to the increased awareness and regulations regarding student services--such as special needs, behavioral and ESL support and so on?Β  At the higher ed level (not in the graph), some of those needs would follow students along with TItle IX and ADA compliance, NCAA administrative compliance, career counseling staff, mental health services, first gen support, and testing services just off the top of my head. Most of those services were nonexistent when I was in school save for Title IX, NCAA, and rudimentary career and mental health staff.

I was reading not too long ago about how many students bring emotional support animals with them to school. Not service animals (separate category) but each student has to fill out an application etc. Which means someone has to review that, etc etc.

It’s not nothing, but probably a very small share of the 134% increase in non-teaching staff. My older sister was a human services professor (not exactly a segment of professors known to rage against bloat), and she complained about the unnecessary (non-teaching) staffing at colleges.Β
