One doesn’t usually think of mountain lions in North Texas, but this one was shot by a deer hunter just a couple of miles from my place near Celeste back in Dec 2020. Β I wash my truck at the wash where the photo was taken:

Supposedly he was spotted near the Metroplex (Rowlett) the month before. Β According to this write-up here, he had been covering some serious ground, so he could have come through my place. Β /csb

Speaking of covering some serious ground…

This mountain lion traveled a distance of more than 1,500 miles from its original home in South Dakota - representing one of the longest movements ever recorded for a land mammal and nearly double the distance ever recorded for a dispersing mountain lion.

  2. April 23 at 9:35a. When people hear talk about their points, are they talking about cumulative Priority Points which determine their Loyalty Point Ranking, or are they just talking about this year’s points, whatever those points are called?

The whole thing got fucked up by losing Del Rio da Pedo.

Are you referencing the QB Del Rio who played at UF in the mid-2010s? If not, please explain. Actually, explain either way.Β

My wife says there are two sets of standards for men and women coaches. She says when a man is a hard-nosed, mean SOB, people praise him for how tough he is and how he makes his players better with tough love, blah, blah, blah. She says when a woman coach acts exactly the same, people call her a nasty bitch who's angry and a monster. I think she's right. Β

Same with politicians, but female politicians (and coaches) have advantage of being assumed to be more kind and empathetic.

In what ways?Β  I do hear ex NFL players say the health insurance (fully vested of course) is excellent, they talk about doing those yearly full body scans, great medical/dental/prescriptions/etc. on top of whatever they earned for pension per the CBA. That has to be a top 1% deal for corporations for ex employees that can live an additional 70 years after retirement.Β

I agree except for that last part.

Their causes of death in the period of 1979 to 2013 were gleaned from preexisting databases and, in some cases, state agency death certificates.

The 517 former NFL players who died during that 35-year period did so at an average age of 59.6 years….

I can't remember a coach that is as universally hated than this chick.

    Β

Who do y'all think is the male equivalent to her in basketball or football?

Bob Knight was a huge asshole, but still kind of likable for whatever reason.

    Coach K? Β

I know Scott Drew is persona non grata here, but do random CBB fans hate him? Β I doubt it.

Gary Ward (OSU baseball 1978-1996) might qualify. He wouldn’t let his team shake hands with opposing players, nor would he chat with other coaches before or after games.
