If you want to dig into the roots of half of modern Mexican Pop, an efficient place to start is Timbiriche. Started as a kid's band in the early 80s, lots of people passed through it as singers, musicians, producers...

I just returned from a graduation party of a fancy all-girls school in guadalajara.  the kids knew all the lyrics and choreography of songs their parents were into.

flans "no controles" (cover of a spanish group's original)

magneto "vuela vuela" (cover of original song of some french group)

they played some remix of this song

This 1999 Chevrolet Suburban (VIN 3GNGK26J3XG137497) is among an unknown but almost certainly tiny number of examples modified in-period with a massive 605ci marine-based V8 installed by Michigan-based Lingenfelter Performance. Originally conceived by GM at the request of the Saudi government who wanted a high-speed interception vehicle, all built apparently started as standard 7.4 liter 2500 models before receiving some $38k (~$57k today) in parts, fabrication, and reassembly. Specs included 550 HP and 705 lb. ft. of torque, which according to a period Car and Driver review were capable of muscling the three-ton-plus behemoth from a standstill to 60 MPH in just 4.6 seconds–full-blown supercar performance for the times. Little information is offered about this example, but the engine bay looks correct, and cosmetics seem decent as well. Find it here at Millennium Motors in Monroe, Washington for $18k.

As noted above, all of these started life as standard 2500’s, some of which were purchased by private owners and then taken to Lingenfelter for conversion. Changes are limited to the powertrain and exhaust, which means the only indicator visible form the outside should be larger tailpipes that are not visible in the the photos of this one. Ride height, wheels, tires and trim (and even brakes!) were all left unchanged from a standard 2500 4×4, and nothing about this example appears further modified.

they are really not helping the stereotype...

Trying to pick my next show. Anyone care to give thoughts on these?

Anon - The Mechanism - Spotless- Mute

The first 2 episodes are painfully slow, but after that it gets better, much better.  really fuckin' good series, the brazilians do not disappoint.

OK, we gotta have some Top 40 Rock En Eshpanyol Wey.

and some 80s mexican music, including the teen/kids groups.  many evolved to become influential artists (paulina rubio, pedro fernandez, sasha, thalia, luis miguel)

  6. rushmore.  I think for me it was because we tried watching it on a friday night in college when people were walking in and interrupting every two minutes.  we finally gave up on it and went out to logan's or something.  it wasn't until about a year later that I gave it another chance in an ideal watching setting that I got it.

  7. is nobody going to post juanga?

  8. just finished the series...fuck it, solid A from me. I predict the second season will see a quantum leap in improvement ala the one from narcos 1 and narcos 2.

  9. woke up in the middle of the night and got 7 episodes in before work, the series is way better than I expected.

as said the rockyesque driving montage was great, and how that scene ended was unexpected/hilarious.  felt really sad for johnny.  the golf n' stuff scene made me super nostalgic for the 80s.

I have a trip this weekend and it's going to be difficult resisting the urge to finish when I get home instead of saving the episodes offline to watch during the plane ride.

  10. after being immune all my life, the tree jizz got me dying.  I event felt as if I had a dumbbell pressing down on my chest.  went to the doctor on monday and walked out with a steroid nasal spray script.  that shit didn't work and went to an urgent care yesterday and they gave me a shot of something, which had be feeling better in less than 10 minutes.  so now I'm looking at immunotherapy.  any allergist recommendations in Houston?

When is this supposed to happen?

No official opening timeline has been announced for Mala Sichuan’s arrival in Katy, but it likely won’t be until late this year or early next, depending on how construction progresses.
