  1. God was busy protecting America's military who are out protecting your right to say stupid shit like that, so he sent me to fill in. - A marine who was taking college classes between his deployments to Afghanistan

  2. America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter, and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. - Abraham Lincoln (or Brisket - I can't remember)

A day will come when a cannon will be exhibited in museums, just as instruments of torture are now, and the people will be astonished that such a thing could have been. - Victor Hugo

  3. Facts and circumstances be damned, I can't believe a top lawyer won't represent Trump just for the money.

I think the Trump lawyers that bailed did so knowing that they're going to be disqualified if/when Trump is charged with a crime. Now, a lot of what they might have to say would be confidential, but the prosecutors can still explore dry facts relevant to time, place, date, etc.

    Quote

    Rule 3.7 Lawyer As Witness

    (a) A lawyer shall not act as advocate at a trial in which the lawyer is likely to be a necessary witness....

But here is the Rule/Comment that I think make Trump un-representable:

    Quote

    Client-Lawyer Relationship
Rule 1.2 Scope Of Representation And Allocation Of Authority Between Client And Lawyer

    - Comment

    Criminal, Fraudulent and Prohibited Transactions

    .....

[10] When the client's course of action has already begun and is continuing, the lawyer's responsibility is especially delicate. The lawyer is required to avoid assisting the client, for example, by drafting or delivering documents that the lawyer knows are fraudulent or by suggesting how the wrongdoing might be concealed. A lawyer may not continue assisting a client in conduct that the lawyer originally supposed was legally proper but then discovers is criminal or fraudulent. The lawyer must, therefore, withdraw from the representation of the client in the matter. See Rule 1.16(a). In some cases, withdrawal alone might be insufficient. It may be necessary for the lawyer to give notice of the fact of withdrawal and to disaffirm any opinion, document, affirmation or the like. See Rule 4.1.

If Trump is plowing ahead with obstruction of justice, he's going to be telling you to do stuff that will make you lose your law license (and maybe land you in jail).

    Leon Russell

Fuck yes. I caught him a few times before he passed away. I think Elton John and I are the only two people on Earth who properly recognize his genius.

I saw a screening of this at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston back in 2015 and recommend any Leon fans to find a way to see it. It was made in 1974 and I don't think it was ever released until recently.

    She supposedly saved the dress.

I don't think this rumor is going to turn out to be true. That thing was probably bunched up on the floor 15 feet away.

However, I've been down a rabbit hole or two on pornhub and there's this thing called "CFNM....."

  6. .38 Special at Astroworld. Doesn't really count because me and my buddies were only there to ride rollercoasters.

First REAL concert: ZZ Top at the Summit in November 1994. I was 13.

Jackyl opened for them and played a song called "She Loves My Cock." The lead singer also used a chainsaw to carve out the word "TEXAS" into a barstool during a song called "Lumberjack." ZZ Top had burlesque showgirls dancing on stage on nearly every song. There was a black dude in front of us dancing and smoking weed the whole time in a snakeskin vest. He put on a pair of sunglasses during "Cheap Sunglasses."

    This was me:

  7. Saw this thread wasn't up and running.

Check out the latest episode of Sam Harris' podcast "Waking Up." He talks to a former white supremacist and it's amazing. Listen to the whole thing if you can. 29:30 to 35:00 is a fascinating discussion of the alt right and dog whistles. Relevant to this thread though is the discussion from 39:00 to 45:00. It is fascinating. He talks about personally uncovering manipulation, fake news, and fake identities online tied to Russia back in 2016.

  8. Merging the guitar technique and songs you're playing on guitar topics. I think this covers everything.

    First contribution:

    https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/topic/1662-twang-101?page=1

These lessons are THE BOMB. I've gotten really serious about my Nashville chops and country leads present a lot of challenges. E.g., less than familiar scales, playing "over the chords" (which to a rock/american/blues player like myself is like changing keys every X number of measures), a fuckton of hybrid picking, lightning fast runs, harmonies, etc.

The lessons have sound samples as well.

This is another one outside of the Twang 101 series:

Afterwards, you can go watch a demo of Brent Mason and try not to kill yourself.

(PS I dropped the "horn" from HornGrandioso, which I'd always hated)
