God what a fucking imbecile. The only thing worse is the gaggle of fucktards that put that pussy on a pedestal and listen to him.

“Brennan Eagles, who had surgery and has missed like half or more of fall practice, is going to light the world on fire.”

Maybe he will, but do you know how I know you’re full of shit and none of what you said is based on seeing any practice?

Speaking of fucking imbeciles … maybe you should slow your roll.

I was given amoxicillin for an ear infection (I get these often due to a broken jaw that healed poorly from a football injury in HS) before flying overseas earlier this summer. I proceed to not get any better for a week. My middle son, meanwhile, gets diagnosed with strep, gets a z-pack and starts immediately getting better. So my wife makes me go see a dr in London. He says “yeah, amoxicillin doesn’t solve most strep” gets me a z-pack and I’m normal within a few days. So I’m not a doctor, but the dude’s original post was dead fucking wrong as a rule. Agreed with you here.

Umm, how can I make an off-handed reference to a non-existent football career and throw in some oft-dreamed for, but never seems to happen, international travel ...?

What exactly is poor about the execution of him taking the time to do a quick summary on many of our classes, you worthless, crusty dipshit?

I will say I’m amazed to see your fucking water-headed ass show up here unprompted. Normally the only thing to stir you to post is to hilariously fail to take potshots at CTJ or myself, or to quibble over fucking geography. Your posting history reads like an autistic stalker’s journal. 247 misses you, you two should spend more time together.

You read posting histories?  Good Lord. Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly think less of you, lol.

    right?

he had a system, he recruited players that fit that system, he developed those guys and then had success as a result. what a concept!

When Stoops first got to OU, he inherited some talent to be sure, but he was largely having to settle for players in state that Texas and aggy didn't want.  Leach did pretty well with no-name recruits, so Leach's system, rather than sheer talent, played a big part for both schools' success.  Briles system is just more of the same.

Given the frequency of the derails in threads associated with Oscar Giles taking hogger dumps on a repeated basis in various recruitments, I figured why not plunge in with a thread for our very own OG?

Giles is entrenched again at Texas because he's boys with Herman, after spending formative coaching years with Herman as a GA and then with him during his first HC tenure at UH. It's a blind spot for Herman, even though he's had to work to bail out Giles in a multitude of recruitments, or put Carrington on targets in order to sway them.

"But closetojumping, what about recruits A, B, and C that 247/Rivals said he was the lead recruiter for!!!"

247/Rivals, if they're stating shit like this, are wrong. Carrington, Herman, and Meekins are directly responsible for virtually every DL that Texas has signed since 2017. Meekins landed Oliver for UH. Muschamp, Brown, Wyatt, and Applewhite played fundamental roles in landing Jeffcoat and others during the MB/OG era. Giles was the lead recruiter on K'Lavon Chaisson and misinformed Herman on status right up to the bitter end. OG also did the same with regard to Vernon Jackson in the 2018 cycle. The staff had to scramble on signing day in an attempt to convince Jackson that he could play running back at Texas. Giles was likely napping during the conversations in which Jackson stated this importance in his recruitment.

"But closetojumping, Oscar Giles is an amaze-balls developer of talent!?!?"

When this argument is made, it usually comes with references to Big 12 DLPOYs in Big Poon and Omenihu. Omenihu, meanwhile, gives a ton of credit to his trainer in Houston, Nathan O'Neal, for his "development". O'Neal works specifically with DLs, and not so coincidentally, Omenihu started working with him last spring. Omenihu had a good season this year, but he wasn't some force to be reckoned with throughout the year. He played well and put up solid stats in a league that doesn't play defense outside of Texas and occasionally TCU and KSU. Any single person taking, or being given, credit for the remarkable journey of Poona Ford is full of shit. But, hey, Giles was around for a season of Ford at Texas.

In short, Oscar Giles is a mediocrity on the Texas staff. They could do better with an additional coach on the DL that actually does work in recruiting, or they could simply do better with someone else that contributes in recruiting and is comparable or better with developing talent. The notion that Texas couldn't is handwringing saarvanashery.

But closetojumping, what about recruits A, B, and C that Giles, whoops, errr Carrington, Herman and Meekins, landed?

You people are fucking idiots that will argue about anything.

The obvious answer is to play UW every year on a neutral field in Boise.

Close. Play any random team every year on a neutral field in Seattle.

I don't like playing good teams with no name recognition. Beating Notre Dame or USC or Michigan is always better for your ranking than beating Washington or Boise State or Wisconsin. I would rather play the former.

But what is the downside?  Maryland didn’t have much name recognition.

I'm well aware of the Claremont Colleges.  I grew up 10 miles away.   I was accepted to Pitzer, and I regularly fucked a Scripps girl for 2 years.  I've spent a lot of time there.  I've had hundreds of pitchers at the Buffalo Inn.  I've bought 2 guitars from the Folk Music Store.

    CLAREMONT IS NOT L.A.

Neither is Palo Alto. But both are in the greater LA area.

I defended Mack Brown for years?  That’s news to me.  I’m actually usually too reactionary, and I was calling for him to be fired after the WSU Holiday Bowl in 2003, the OU shutout in 04 (I was way wrong on those), and then again constantly starting with the Iowa State loss in 2010 until he was fired.  Then I bitched nonstop about Charlie needing to be fired after the Arkansas and Notre Dame debacles.  Then I said Herman and Ehlinger were trash after Maryland last year.

And I think just a couple of weeks ago, whenever it was you last tried to make up a history to personalize whatever disagreement you thought you had with me, you said I have always been a malcontent.  At least that one was kind of true.  But a Mack Brown sunshine pumper? That’s just lazy. You’re losing your edge, pal.  Ask futureman to help you with your material.

When CTJ can’t formulate a cogent argument, he makes shit up.  On the plus side, making shit up is responsible for most of his greatest victories. You know, when he alone saw the light and spoke the truth against a chorus of baying sycophants. That is how he rolls.

You’d think so, based on their location. It’s a private school, so they can hide paper trails more easily than most. We have so much freaking money, though, and such a massive, wealthy alumni base. I don’t know where they fall on that metric. I do know their facilities traditionally lag well behind the rest of the blue bloods.

When you draw 21,000 to a game on a good day, it is hard to keep up.

  11. At this point no one knows how Ostarine got into the Clemson players’ systems.  So I am withholding judgment until they complete their internal investigation. There has been an unavoidable delay since the outside advisers are still wrapping up their search for the real killer.

It isn't our choice and I just don't see TH making changes without a subpar season.

Even with a subpar season (not in Big 12 championship game), I don’t see him making changes.  I love to see these ninny’s pinning for Traylor. Lemming alert!

You'd think that after years, decades really, of pushing the narrative to themselves in what amounts to the recruiting equivalent of an elephant walk that all of their recruits are underrated and everyone else's recruits are overrated, that they'd at some point, just for a moment, pause and realize that not a lick of that is reflected in their results under the last 5 coaches. Trust RC/Fran/Sherman/Sumlin/Fisher has manifested in precisely one top 10 finish since Mack Brown and Bob Stoops showed up at Texas and OU, respectively. The addition of Saban at LSU then Bama, Miles and Ogre at LSU, Patterson at TCU and Gundy at OSU have only exacerbated their futility when it comes to the cognitive dissonance. They're constantly, quietly, secretly, getting better players than everyone else, no one (tee hee) knows it but them, and it is all going to appear magically next season, whenever that next season is, you just wait and see!

I've come to the conclusion that they're college football's fan equivalent of the Dunning-Kruger Effect personified. They're so fundamentally incompetent and unskilled at being an actual observant participant in the field of their choosing, college sports fandom, that they can't actually knowledgeably understand what good looks like in the space, so they're perpetually overestimating their own position and future outcomes and doing so in massive ways.

That Top 10 finish was actually a Top 5 finish, Bucko.  And they had another Top 5 finish in 1956.  So, booyah! !
