Did they let ol boy fix the damage or pull the backup out without penalty?
They fixed the car and had a 10 place penalty no way around it because of the rulebook. He got hosed after qualifying 2nd and then started in 12th.
The race was better than expected given the setup. I could have gone but opted to sit out year one with the potential clusterfuck situation. Word is the logistics weren’t too bad for fans.
It was a big deal event for sure. Private jet parking overbooked and jets did drop off and had to park in adjacent states. And the money fronted before the weekend for gambling set records, beating out the big fight weekends.- 1

Off to a hot start:
Tempers flared at the Las Vegas Grand Prix after the first practice of the $500 million race was halted nine minutes into the session Thursday night because Carlos Sainz Jr. ran over a water valve cover that badly damaged his Ferrari. The FIA said Sainz hit the concrete frame around the cover. It took another 11 minutes for the governing body to call all cars off track so it could inspect the entire circuit.
The start of a second practice scheduled for midnight Thursday was delayed, and Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur raged that the "just unacceptable" incident would keep Sainz from participating. Ferrari had to replace the entire chassis and other components and was summoned to speak to F1's stewards to determine if the repairs would draw a penalty.

He’s been on my flight also, Carrot Top not SC ha. I chatted with him before boarding he was friendly. It was quite bizarre because these 2 girls sitting in front of coach were flying to Vegas to get married and they asked the FA to ask Carrot Top (who was in first) if they could get a picture with him. Dude got up and went back in aisle and took a pic with them mid flight. Never seen that before.
But if you search his social media (I don’t recommend this ha) over the years he’s posted videos about behavior of people on planes so let’s keep an eye out for the SC edition? Without knowing any of the facts, I’m already gonna take SC side of any argument. Carrot Top is pretty whacky IRL as one might expect. -

When you live in Houston and Dallas and have access to the best steak joints in the country, going to one in Vegas is generally for different reasons, if at all. So I pretty much only go to STK at Cosmo on occasion and that’s for the party atmosphere and hot girls. I’m mostly worthless when asked about where to get steaks in Vegas. I’m usually focused on any other type of restaurant except perhaps Mexican food (and obviously BBQ) when in town.
Having said that, it is understandable that a group of guys like to have a bachelor party meal at a steak place or maybe people don’t live near awesome steakhouses.- 2

I'm going with buddies in a few weeks and then taking my wife to see Garth Brooks in December for her birthday with some friends. I'm wondering if we should get a reservation for Peter Luger's in Dec. I've never been to the one in NYC because there are too many good ones and it always seemed like a hassle. Have you heard any comments on how the one in Vegas compares?
I also just found out that my buddy that we're going with is good friends with someone in the Raiders' front office and we're getting some insider access shit at the Raiders game that weekend. Never been, so figuring it will be a circus worth seeing.
One lengthy review just out today. More or less favorable. I’ve also never made the trek out to Brooklyn for the original.

That’s a lot of finish out to get done in 2 weeks.
The video showed that it looks totally done. I thought one of the gossip guys said open Nov 1 but when you click a link to make a reservation it is showing open in 2 days on Thursday October 19. -
When is it supposed to open?
I believe November 1st- 1

I’m not sure what the percentages are but if you travel around the country you will find many places where it is a button straddle. I’ve seen it in Florida and Mississippi. I had been more used to the UTG straddle.

There is no fucking way in hell I would ever sit on that other side of the stadium. I imagine the ground is littered with cigarette butts, losing lottery tickets, and empty bottles of Thunderbird.
And the only things you can buy at the concession stands are meth and dreamcatchers.
I did it once, technically. Long time ago the cute HR girl at my firm was a sooner and she had access to some vender tickets front row in the upper deck on about the 45 yard line on the Sooner side. We won the game and I was pretty close to non-methead side so it was a winning day all around plus I realized how great the view was in that location. I wouldn’t venture any further into enemy territory though.- 1

Iconic New York cheesecake eatery, Junior’s, has announced it will open its first location in Las Vegas.
According to a news release, the new restaurant will mark Junior’s first location on the West Coast.
The eatery, which will be located inside Resorts World Las Vegas, is set to open its doors in November of this year, according to the resort’s website.
“I feel like I just won the jackpot,” said Alan Rosen, the third generation of his family to own Junior’s. “I’m so lucky to have been selected by Resorts World to open our first West Coast location inside its property. I hope that both residents and visitors to the city will also feel lucky that they will be able to enjoy the World’s Most Famous Cheesecake, as well as all the delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, drinks and our other skyscraper desserts.”
Also marking Junior’s sixth location in the U.S., the new Las Vegas restaurant will feature 300 seats and will offer a full-service breakfast, lunch, dinner, late-night menu and bar along with the company’s cheesecake offerings.
“Our goal is to continue to bring exciting dining experiences for our guests and expand our portfolio with unique concepts that can’t be found anywhere else in the city,” said Bartholomew Mahoney, vice president of food & beverage of Resorts World Las Vegas. “We are thrilled to be welcoming the first West Coast location of Junior’s and bring this beloved New York institution to our guests and visitors.”
Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery has been an iconic New York eatery since debuting in the 1950s.

Watching the game from Bozeman MT today. Walking around town with UT gear on, I’m getting lots of beat Alabama and Hook ‘em comments. If our OL can play half decent today, we win this one. LFG.

You look at Surly Horns over there and it's just all about the tradition of everyone massively overreacting because they don't understand how to read the context of someone's post.
Please don’t make me come back. I’m trying to stay retired. Thanks in advance.- 2
