  1. Yep. I haven’t been to Vegas in quite a while. That restaurant was run with the oversight of the old man in the way he set things up. I interacted with him a few times and you could just tell his fingerprints were on the culture of the place. I always assumed the son would take over (I never met him) and keep the traditions going. Little did I know he was a problem and not the future of the place. From reading the comments about it on the LasVegaslocally Twitter feed from earlier in the year, I’m not too optimistic on how this new ownership will do but we can only hope they don’t fuck it up. Someone should post their next experience here for the rest of us to get an update.
  2. New Bazaar meats at Palazzo
  3. I saw a video clip from the Sphere of the Wizard of Oz show and it looked pretty cool. I’m not a huge fan of NYE in Vegas. It’s a pain in the ass to get around with the Strip shut down at night and the prices for everything are up for the same food and experiences. I did enjoy it once as an invited guest for a “private dinner” which was in a ballroom but the food and entertainment were solid.
  4. Wynn now says they anticipate hotel rooms refresh at Encore starting spring 2026 with limited disruptions. Expected to take a year to complete.
  5. It’s a bifurcated market, similar to the economy in general. Pricing is holding on the high end Strip properties versus the low end. Bellagio/Wynn etc still showing strong demand and pricing power. Overall, the summer visitation numbers into Vegas have clearly slowed year over year but the outlook is still decent into the fall and so that’s likely why you aren’t seeing any discounted pricing as of yet and may not. Best strategy per usual is to check each casino website using your players card information to see if you can get any deals. And of course it’ll be weekend specific based on any big events in town like Raiders games or mega concerts F1 etc.
  6. Gilbert Arenas was arrested on Wednesday for his involvement in an illegal gambling business. The three-time NBA All-Star was charged in a federal indictment alongside five others, including Yevgeni Gershman, an alleged member of an Israeli transnational organized crime group, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The group allegedly held illegal high-stakes poker games at Arenas’ Encino, Calif., mansion. Arenas is being charged with one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business, one count of operating an illegal gambling business and one count of making false statements to federal investigators, the release stated, and was scheduled to be arraigned in the United States District Court in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Arenas, 43, allegedly rented out his Encino mansion during the period from September 2021 to July 2022 for illegal gambling. The “Gil’s Arena” podcast host is said to have directed a man named Arthur Kats to stage “the mansion to host the games, [find] co-conspirators to host the games, and [collect] rent from the co-conspirators on Arenas’ behalf,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office found. Gershman, Tourevski, Austria, and Cohen are accused of managing “illegal ‘Pot Limit Omaha’ poker games, among other illegal games, at the Encino mansion, [collecting] a ‘rake’ —a fee the house charged from each pot either as a percentage or a fixed amount per hand — and [inviting] players to compete,” prosecutors wrote. Young women were allegedly hired by Gershman and worked for tips, serving drinks, providing massages and offering “companionship to the poker players.” The women were reportedly charged a tax from their earnings at the game. They also hired staff, including chefs, valets and armed security guards for the outings. Krachun was found to have worked as a chip runner in the gambling scheme, tracking betting wins and losses, distributing poker chips to players, and paying the employees. Arenas played for Arizona in college before stints with the Warriors, Wizards, Magic and Grizzlies

  9. I only went out there with a group to play the Fazio golf courses at Primm Valley. Very nice. Apparently they shut down summer 2024. https://www.lasvegasgolfinsider.com/breaking-news-tom-fazios-primm-valley-golf-club-closes-abruptly/

  12. Caesars poker room back open as of yesterday in a weird location and space
  13. My last Vegas trip, my dad and I rented a bright green Lambo and drove it around the 13 mile stretch of Red Rocks and stopped and many of the hiking spots to switch drivers and take pics. Pretty damn fun and can’t beat the scenery.
  14. I would call Wynn again just to confirm what will be open and closed. Tonight on their earnings call they announced delays/pushbacks to their capex plans (due to tariff costs) including the remodeling of rooms at the Encore and other projects. So it’s possible some plans have just changed.
  15. Considering your answer I would think the winner could be Lotus of Siam (as mentioned above). It’s one of the best Thai restaurants in the country. Definitely make a reservation in advance it can be tough to get in at times. It’s off the Strip and not fancy. Many of us eat there every single trip to Vegas.
  16. We can recommend just about any type of restaurant but the choices are all over the place. Do you want an experience at a big Strip hotel with a view or something more low key and are you mostly asking for a steak restaurant recommendation or another specific type? If you narrow that down a little bit someone on here will give you a few winning choices
  17. If searching for better odds: The Strat recently joined Palms in shifting back to paying 3:2 when a player is dealt a natural blackjack on the main casino floor. Rio has been offering both payouts for blackjack since reopening under new ownership in 2023. The original blackjack payout returns more money to players than the 6:5 version that most Vegas Strip casinos deal to players outside of the high-limit rooms. During slow periods, Palms is offering 3:2 blackjack for a $5 minimum bet, though limits may be higher when the casino is busier.
  18. If anyone tried the big beef at Portillo’s give us a review I want to try that at some point

  21. Pretty good summary of how we got here. Also if you want $5 table minimums with the old school rules for craps and BJ try Ellis Island casino. https://www.casinoreports.com/las-vegas-fees-charges/
