  1. One lengthy review just out today. More or less favorable. I’ve also never made the trek out to Brooklyn for the original. http://www.eatinglv.com/
  2. The video showed that it looks totally done. I thought one of the gossip guys said open Nov 1 but when you click a link to make a reservation it is showing open in 2 days on Thursday October 19.
  3. I’m not sure what the percentages are but if you travel around the country you will find many places where it is a button straddle. I’ve seen it in Florida and Mississippi. I had been more used to the UTG straddle.
  4. I did it once, technically. Long time ago the cute HR girl at my firm was a sooner and she had access to some vender tickets front row in the upper deck on about the 45 yard line on the Sooner side. We won the game and I was pretty close to non-methead side so it was a winning day all around plus I realized how great the view was in that location. I wouldn’t venture any further into enemy territory though.
  5. Iconic New York cheesecake eatery, Junior’s, has announced it will open its first location in Las Vegas. According to a news release, the new restaurant will mark Junior’s first location on the West Coast. The eatery, which will be located inside Resorts World Las Vegas, is set to open its doors in November of this year, according to the resort’s website. “I feel like I just won the jackpot,” said Alan Rosen, the third generation of his family to own Junior’s. “I’m so lucky to have been selected by Resorts World to open our first West Coast location inside its property. I hope that both residents and visitors to the city will also feel lucky that they will be able to enjoy the World’s Most Famous Cheesecake, as well as all the delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, drinks and our other skyscraper desserts.” Also marking Junior’s sixth location in the U.S., the new Las Vegas restaurant will feature 300 seats and will offer a full-service breakfast, lunch, dinner, late-night menu and bar along with the company’s cheesecake offerings. “Our goal is to continue to bring exciting dining experiences for our guests and expand our portfolio with unique concepts that can’t be found anywhere else in the city,” said Bartholomew Mahoney, vice president of food & beverage of Resorts World Las Vegas. “We are thrilled to be welcoming the first West Coast location of Junior’s and bring this beloved New York institution to our guests and visitors.” Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery has been an iconic New York eatery since debuting in the 1950s. https://www.fox5vegas.com/2023/09/19/juniors-iconic-new-york-cheesecake-eatery-open-first-location-las-vegas/

  9. Watching the game from Bozeman MT today. Walking around town with UT gear on, I’m getting lots of beat Alabama and Hook ‘em comments. If our OL can play half decent today, we win this one. LFG.
  10. I’m pretty sure the bulk of the rounds at Shadow Creek are comped whales.
  11. Please don’t make me come back. I’m trying to stay retired. Thanks in advance.

  15. Formula One slashes Las Vegas Grand Prix fees after backlash from clubs, restaurants: sources (NY Post): Formula One has pumped the brakes on a controversial plan to force Las Vegas clubs and restaurants to cough up millions of dollars in licensing fees by threatening to block their views of the hotly anticipated Grand Prix race, The Post has learned. The posh car racing league has slashed the price that venues located along the November event’s 3.8-mile circuit must pay to around $50,000 each — down sharply from a $1,500-per-head demand that would have resulted in a tab of $3 million for a major venue with a capacity of 2,000, as the The Post exclusively reported. Insiders said F1 — owned by billionaire John Malone’s Liberty Media — has backed down after allegedly threatening not to protect venues from having barricades, lights and other obstructions placed in front of businesses that refused to pay the licensing fees, which had been based on the maximum capacity of venues according to city fire codes. “This venue fee is much smarter,” a source close to restaurant owners said, adding, “It’s much more in line with what the Super Bowl will charge” when it is played in Las Vegas next year. While Formula One has charged similar fees at other street course locales like Monaco, Las Vegas venues claimed that casinos are looking for high rollers to come and gamble several times a year. If customers spend too much cash on F1 trip, they may delay their next visit, one executive argued. The cheapest ticket packages available for the race begin at $2,000. In addition to an unobstructed view, the $50,000 venue fee will grant restaurants and clubs a direct feed of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which will be held Nov. 18, sources said. “There is a certain line they are crossing [by] telling someone who has spent billions on their property that you are shutting the Strip down for construction and then asking them to pay for seats,” a source told The Post last month. A Formula One spokesman declined comment. Las Vegas has spent millions repaving the famed Strip and other adjacent streets as it prepares for the F1 road race. The three-day spectacle from Nov. 16-18, culminating with the Grand Prix on Saturday night, is expected to draw about 300,000 fans. The league’s other races — in Miami and Austin, Texas — are held on closed tracks. Las Vegas had previously hosted an F1 event on the Caesars Palace grounds in the early 1980s. https://nypost.com/2023/08/21/formula-one-slashes-las-vegas-grand-prix-fees-after-backlash-sources/

  17. Also haven’t watched and probably won’t. I have a good friend who is a season ticket holder and 2%er (?) and during the height of Johnny Football I went to a game with him just to see what was going on. I got up to take a leak as the clock struck zero for halftime and everyone around me was wondering why I would miss the big show. No line to take a leak so that was a win. Aggies lost the game to Auburn. Double win.
  18. The Vegas Advantage link posted above is a good one and most likely current. If you haven’t been in a few years, you are correct there have been some changes to the rules in certain casinos in various games. I know Wynn made changes to craps around the pandemic time frame. Blackjack has been steadily getting worse for players on the Strip for quite awhile. I always recommend Ellis Island casino for both, they have good rules and friendly dealers with low minimums.
  19. A little inside baseball on dealing with a big spending nightclub drama queen (Wynn and Resorts World related): https://www.casino.org/vitalvegas/high-rollers-tantrum-sparks-bizarre-nightlife-drama/
  20. If you take the free tram from Bellagio over to Aria/Park MGM, the view of the City Center complex is pretty decent. A webcam inside that new walkway would be entertaining from about 4-6 am.
  21. When it’s 115 degrees outside in the summer, the enclosed walkway with A/C is quite awesome to get from Bellagio to Cosmo and Vdara. Otherwise, sure it doesn’t seem to mean much.
