SF is quite nice, actually. If you had said Bakersfield, that would make sense. Or Waco. Or East St. Louis. Or Gary Indiana. Or a hundred other US cities.

SF? Pretty far down on the shithole rankings

    Say what?

It truly is a real shit hole.

  2. I've turned my feeders off until the acorns finally stop dropping. we are still covered up in Irion and Menard Co. Maybe turn them back on after thanksgiving. Corn and pellets just litter the ground.

the matures still are localized and haven't begun to cover big distance for that snatch. Young dudes are harassing anything that moves. I watched a 2.5 yr old buck run a button buck for several hours Friday morning. I assume once the acorns finally sour or run out the mature bucks will really begin to move all over..

Deer are fat as heck right now, 4.5 yr olds look like 6 yr old deer. By mid December the matures will start to slim up considerably and will make it difficult to judge age on hoof.

  3. at the end of the day ratings drive the formula.

Disney will prefer Alabama over pretty much anybody else. Right now they are hoping to get a Ohio St vs Bama, LSU vs Clemson semi final. Those will draw the largest ratings.

  4. If you have the means, do not de-bone any meat from a carcass until at least 3 says after the animal has died. The meat will relax and you wont have tough cuts.

backstrap should be sliced thick and seared over high temps, like a filet.

  5. the deer have been in rut since early October. The big dudes are content with the acorns and waiting out does to come into heat.

Look for dense cover with plenty of oaks available and dont allow the wind to bust yourself. The big guns wont go too far until the acorns go bad or run out. Lot of times they are hiding out watching you while you dont even know it. Grunt calls can pull them out of their cover briefly.
