Thinking of booking 4 days Tuesday arrival and flying home Saturday at Disneyland the first week of November. Will be going with the 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl. Is this crazy?
Any tips? Looking to probably stay at The Grand Californian. -
Really. Really strong.

I believe this is NASA’s “A” barrel of the 9 year Sixth Street pick, and it’s pretty solid. I’m not crazy about their price point compared to similar products and the gimmicky bottles drive me nuts in a bad way, but I’m happy with the purchase.

I thought about getting this on Thursday. Ended up getting some stuff Ehrine and some bowman. -
Oh, and further proof that I'm an idiot- I was sitting outside with the 100 people in the great unwashed and I'd been there for like 2 hours. I went up to the bailiff and I was like- you- is the judge ever coming out- it said I was supposed to be here at 9- and he was like- not until all this gets worked out- that's what the attorneys in the other room are doing with the DA- anyone not represented by an attorney goes last.
Me- I'm an attorney- but it's my own case- does that count?
Him- why the hell have you been waiting 2 hours- yes- let me show you back.
He was nice but didn't understand why I was waiting with the unwashed. My answer- as it is to most things- is b/c I'm an idiot.
This is the best thing so far. Probably the best part is not having to wait with all defendants in the hallway. -
Hit a couple of small stores on the way back from Court in more rural county this morning. Some good finds. They said the KC had been on the shelf since November.

My 2nd PI I talked to the appointed lawyer or whatever (not a judge not a DA - can't remember or don't know the terminology) to try and get it to deferred disposition so it would stay off my record.
She goes "usually my policy is you just get one" (meaning she wasn't going to approve it for deferred disposition) and then I gave some sob story and ended up talking her out of it.
My 3rd PI I paid someone to get dismissed. Maybe I could have saved $1,000.
Oh - guess which one is the one that still shows up on my record - the 2 that I pleaded to deferred or the one that I got outright dismissed.
Yea if you were in the same court for more than one of these they were probably messing with you. I’ve had clients who have half a dozen sprinkled throughout the area. We can typically get them resolved through a deferred if not outright dismissed with some sort of alcohol awareness class.
On the showing up part, occasionally the class C courts will clear records so it could be that but the only real way to “clear” the record is by filing an expunction after a dismissal. -
That’s what I felt like it should be. That certainly wasn’t the way the court functionaries saw it in September nor today.
Did they call your insurance company to confirm no coverage. Around here the courts will confirm if you provide information about your provider. -

I sent him a message. I think there’s at least one bottle worth grabbing. -
God all I want is to find an Elmers.

Anyone tried Mattinglys 1000 yard stare?

Picked up a couple ryes today. Alberta Cask Strength Rye and a Elijah Craig Rye. Ended up seeing a few more bottles of the EC at NASA if anyone is looking.

I’ve been to that location twice. They have everything you’d ever want, but bring your second mortgage. The BTAC pours are $45, and Pappy is more. “Good value” at $21 for EH Taylor Barrel Proof. There are many other good pours in the $20-35 range. I believe Elmer is $14.
If it’s still on the menu, I’d recommend the duck.
That’s the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks! -
Going to whisky cake bay brook for the first time tonight. I think wife and friend chose it thinking it would fit the niche for me.
Anything I should look out for or will it just have a lot of regular shelf filler at higher prices? -
Enjoyed more than a few of these yesterday. Used the NASA single barrel single barrel from a couple months back. Very tasty.- 1

My in laws are there again this weekend. It’s their 5th or so trip during covid. They don’t stop.

This one threw me over the fucking edge tonight. I watch a lot of body cam. Like everyday. I see a lot of bad police work. This person complied.

Went by Garrison Brothers Distillery while on a short trip to Fredericksburg on the way to Enchanted Rock. The set up is nice, you can order a flight with tastings of the small batch, and two single barrels that you supposedly can only get at the distillery. They had free waters, soda, and beer which was pretty cool for the wife who is not a whisky drinker. They also have mixed drinks.
I will say they are PROUD of their product which was fine but does not warrant the price when compared to some of the other stuff we regularly discuss in here. When going into the gift shop to see if I wanted to take anything home, the employees were rude as hell when I didn't express my undying love for the single barrels. Also the honeydew was described as a great "sipping whiskey". I'm not sure what the other ones were to be used for.

A lot of hand wringing about price on here. I’ve never not ordered crawfish or cancelled a party because the price is too high.
You are not my mother in law then.- 1

Had some Thomas Handy tonight for the first time. Holy cow, Great Great stuff.

I should probably know who that is but I don’t. I’m glad I think.

Actually the little local spot. I’m guessing he finally got something good and have it to me this time.
