  1. Any skiing at Thanksgiving is going to suck and be on mostly man made. Just pick a place that fits your non skiing agenda best. If you need recommendations based on that tell us what you like to do when you are on vacation and a general budget as in:
Cheap, some nice thing in a budget, I pay for a good experience, I'm rich af, I don't want to be around the plebs

Probably more along the lines of “I pay for a good experience/ let’s avoid total gen pop.” Also with things to do for the above referenced kids.
  2. We are wanting to plan a trip to Colorado for thanksgiving thanksgiving. We have never skied before snd will be traveling with an almost-5-year-old and a 2 two year old. The actual skiing aspect is the least important aspect of the trip. Looking for other snow based activities with nice restaurants and housing.

We have never been to the area but it seems like Keyston, Breckenridge, Vail, or Beaver Creek are the most common but we don’t really know why to choose one over the other. What say you?

  3. 60%, or 450 ml Weller Antique and 40%, or 300 ml Weller 12. Let it sit for at least two weeks in a clean glass bottle with a solid cork. I let mine sit for a year and drink it on the long holiday weekends.

I use a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Others use electric scales which seems unnecessarily difficult to me.

There are countless other recipes/ratios out there, but this the aforementioned 60/40 is the most popular.

Please note: Some will argue that Poor Man’s Pappy is actually a Weller Centennial recipe. This is asinine to me. When 95% of the bourbon community accept it as Poor Man’s Pappy, just call it that.

Perfect. I guess I’ll just go down to Specs and pick up a couple of 12s. Shouldn’t be a problem.

  4. I haven’t posted Inna long time. I’ve stepped up my game a bit. Found a blantons in the wild at retail recently and feel great about it. I bought a bottle of rebel yell 10 recently and tried it somewhere else before opening. Now I’m somewhat interested in trading if anyone wants it.

I grew up in San Antonio and went to John Marshall High School.  I really hate the way the city has failed to manage growth.  My relatives lived out in the northwest (Helotes) and they enjoy it but that traffic!

My mom taught at Alamo Heights long ago.

My advice is the following:  The only place I think I'd like to live in San Antonio would be Alamo Heights/Olmos-ish if I could afford it.  If your friends like a bit of culture and access to said culture, spend the money and let the kids go to Alamo Heights or magnet school and stay within the loop somewhere.  If they have a boat or want to get out to the lakes, sure, go far suburb, but if not, stay within the loops.

I think parents spend too much time worrying about where to live "for the schools" and then end up living in an area that doesn't serve their needs - or just isn't fun.  If you give a shit about education, and have raised your kids right, they will do fine in high school.

I agree with this. I went to Churchill. It was fine but that's 15 years ago. My friends that are starting families that have means are all either in Alamo Heights or Stone Oak. If I were to move back I would shoot for Alamo Heights.

  6. I haven’t commented yet but I’m really upset. Sorry man. I have another week of jail docket down there later this month. I remember thinking I’d get to have buck’s a couple of times when I signed up. Sorry it couldn’t work out. I’d be happy to get a beer up here one of these days.
