  1. And to just further exemplify part of the reason that fracking isn’t all that popular in PA. The 500,000 acre Allegheny national forest is now dotted with this shit. One of my favorite camping trips as a child was going backpacking in what seemed like an endless expanse of wilderness every year. This is the fracking that Biden is talking about when he’s talking about ending fracking on federal land.
  2. To piggy back off my own comment a bit. It’s underwater because the benefit that a lot of people were convinced was coming to the state didn’t materialize like they thought. To touch on something that were pointed out by someone else a few days ago, there aren’t these hundreds of thousands of jobs that Trump claims and that people were told were coming. Most of the drilling crews are out of Texas. Secondly, the Republican state government at the time was either duped or complicit in becoming the only state that doesn’t have a gas severance tax. They charge a 1 time fee to drill the well. So now years later the money to the state and local governments is dwindling as fewer wells are being drilled but production is at an all time high. A lot of the profit is leaving the state and going to Range Resources and the like. Then you have the majority of people who care more about the environmental impacts more than than they give a shit about some yokel who happened to be lucky enough to be sitting on a couple hundred acres of rural land that no one wanted to do anything with because it was too steep and rocky for farmland and too remote for anything else.
  3. None but the people that bought that bullshit are now just happy with trump owning the libs. Because if they’re gonna be fucked either way, they might as well get to bring back racism
  4. This is not surprising to anyone in Pennsylvania that doesn’t own land with gas wells.
  5. I don’t know enough about the subsidies but how much are the various entertainers industry subsidized? I get subsidizing the fledging renewables so they can grow, but why does to oil industry need subsidized?
  6. Santorum just tried to say “no one called Donald Trump racist before he ran for president.” and expectedly everyone lost their shit because he’s been a very public racist his entire life.
  7. 538 had Biden with a 30% chance to win this afternoon.
  8. Biden knows he has him on the ropes here.
  9. Well, you have friends here that don’t have any.
  10. Trump is lost and trying to play this like a rally.
  11. He’s winning it for the people that don’t know he’s lying and the people that don’t care that he’s lying. That’s it. Everyone here watching it can see that he’s lying and the assumption for some is that No one else out in the would can see it so they just assume all of trumps nonsense is true.
  12. She doesn’t have control of it and the rules are that it would only be used for the 2 uninterrupted minutes.
  13. Trump winning round 2 with lies and Joe stumbling.
  14. The 154 number would put turnout at 60%, with the lower and higher numbers being 56% and 65%. Turnout in 2016 was 55%.
  15. From the battleground in Pennsylvania, wearing my Andrew Yang 2020 shirt, voting for the first time.
  16. Citizens for American Energy Federal PAC. Unsurprisingly, their biggest public donor in 2016 was the company that owns that billboard.
  17. Billboard in Fayette county PA. Fayette County is the poster child for rust belt Trumpism. Mostly rural county, 94% white, 20+% poverty rate, that used to be a democratic stronghold. Voted Dem from 1932-2004 with Nixon’s second term being the only exception where he only won by 9 points. The peak was LBJ winning the county by 50 points. Then in 08 McCain took it by 215 total votes. Trump won it by 30%. It was a perfect place to be sold on Trumpism. It peaked in the post-war 1940’s with its biggest town now at half the population it was then (currently 10k people). The decline of coal in the area and then steel has had the county in steady decline since the 40’s. Along cane Trump talking about making America great again and bringing back coal and steel. But I guess no one there remembered that the coal there is mostly mined out and done with a small crew and machines, not a few hundred guys with pickaxes. They voted democratic for 75 years but had been in steady decline for most of that time. They were as ripe as could be for Trump’s con for a bunch of reasons, and they bit, hook, line, and sinker. That area will be solid R for at least a generation.
  18. His district was redrawn since the 2016 election. In 2016 he ran unopposed. When it was redrawn for the 2018 election he won 51-47. Basically his district and the one to the east used to split the population of Erie into two very large, rural districts to create two republican locks (Trump won Erie country by 2%, the rest of those counties by 35%). Now he has all of Erie county.
  19. So the gop’s big October surprise was Guliani getting ahold of a laptop that Biden’s son supposedly left in the shop of a blind computer repairman in Delaware while living in California. Meanwhile the New York Times just keeps lobbing Molotov cocktails at the trump campaign and Trump is becoming more unhinged by the day. i wish I had more confidence in there not being any fuckery with the election so I could sit back and enjoy the ride a bit more.
  20. They’ve had dozens of people hooking up their milking machines to that cash udder for years and she’s just about dried up. We’ll find out over the next few years who was good at hiding where the money was going and who wasn’t.
  21. “Good beautiful clean coal.” Pittsburgh has the 8th worst air quality of all metro areas over the last few years and 6 of the other 7 were Californian cities dealing with wildfires. Largely due to a coal power plant on one river and a coke plant on another. And at the coke works, us steel regularly just pays the fines instead of actually fixing anything.
