  1. hbp to score a run Sox gonna blow this big time
  2. Two run HR for Chicago to make it 3-0 in the 6th
  3. yep, just ask Mariners fans. 16-4 in Aug and 26-9 over their last 35 games
  4. I think there's going to be a bench clearing incident today in Chicago. Kopech has hit a batter already and threw up and in multiple times.
  5. preferably 28-7 over the remaining 35 games to finish with 100 wins again. show me an 8th loss!!!
  6. yeah the worst it could be for us vs SEA is 2-11 and that assumes another sweep in Seattle
  7. this may be strong in confidence but it's lacking in reality imo., Seattle is a very good, young team with playoff experience that has proven the ability to stay hot for a long time. Of course they are due for some regression, no team sustains an .800 winning percentage over two months like Seattle has done in the month of August. However, it is certainly plausible that they sustain a .650 winning percentage the rest of the way which would put them at about 94-95 wins. We have to go at least 23-12 or better to match that and since they own the tiebreaker......
  8. Seattle right now is the team to be most concerned with for the division lead. They have only lost four games in August and are 26-11 since the ASB. After today's game at Chi, they are home for two series against the Royals and As, then they follow that with a long ten-game road trip to NYM, Cincy, and TB. They aren't going to lose many of these upcoming games I think.
  9. baseball reference. look at team win/loss splits and it shows breakdown by opponent https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2023-schedule-scores.shtml
  10. yall stop doing this please. i remember the last time we were closing in on first place and this board went all in on tempting the bbgs.....
  11. Arizona letting Arlington back in this game
  12. bases loaded no outs Jon Gray yanked after giving up three runs and seven hits
  13. Whewing is better than losing
  14. cmon Montero get it together
  15. in related news, I convinced a buddy of mine to book a two-piece $100 parlay with Red Sox + Rangers
  16. Yall Singleton haters can suck on it!
  17. I've seen enough bad baserunning to know plenty of players would have their heads up their asses on a play like that and hesitate long enough to not score
  18. great baserunning by Dubon
  19. I was really hoping for Singleton to HR on page 420
  20. fify. If this season has proved anything with all the injuries and illnesses and inconsistent play, it's the difficulty with which this team has gaining ground on the Rangers. One thing this team has not done this year that every Astros team since 2017 accomplished (covid season excluded for obvious reasons) was a double-digit winning streak. This year's longest winning streak was eight games back in May and during that streak the Astros went from 4 gb to 1 gb and then promptly lost two straight to fall to 3 gm behind. That is this season in a nutshell imo. I don't expect this current margin of difference in the standings to improve positively in our direction with the way this lineup is hitting and the state of the starting pitching lately. It's not impossible of course and Fangraphs says the Astros are the current favorite out of the AL to win the WS but nothing about winning this division will be easy. We still have not logged a single day of sole possession of first place.
  21. Gaining ground tonight feels like a miracle. We haven't been within 1.5 of first place since Aug 4th. So very stupid that this team couldn't take advantage of the Rangers getting swept over the weekend and decided it was a great time to get swept as well.
  22. Meluskey was a fucking punk. Miekse wasn't the problem here, it was Meluskey.
  23. Relatedly, they have also played a considerably easier schedule based on SoS than the Astros. 28th to the Astros 15th....which confirms my gut feeling. What gets me is that it feels like the majority of the time they're playing a winning team, they get them at home.
  24. Every time I check the schedule it seems we're playing a >.500 and/or hot team while the Rangers are playing at home, always. That series they took at SF was a surprise because they aren't a great road team. The schedule has been very good to them. I mean jfc they had the Guardians at home followed by the Rays and Dodgers as well, then went on the road and lost to us and San Diego. Then they got to play the ChiSox and MIA at home. Now they get first-place Milwaukee at home this weekend. Godfuckingdamn. Their schedule is giving them blowjobs daily.
  25. Wining is cool
