  1. My guess is 1) he wasn't really needed then at the big league level and 2) they really wanted him to work on doing some of the things we get frustrated about with the Matons and Staneks and Abreus, namely throwing early strikes, staying ahead in the count and being effective with your pitch count each inning, getting early outs, and not trying to strike every hitter out. If he'd been in the Astros clubhouse early/mid summer, I'm not sure it would have helped him or the team that much as he wouldn't have had the opportunity to work as much as he has in AAA.
  2. I think they know what they are doing wrt his role and it's all coming together according to plan. With the Astros' incredible starting rotation depth (even before LMJ's return), Brown had no chance to stake a spot in the order barring a trade that never happened. IMO they have always thought his best chance to contribute this year would be out of the bullpen but they weren't likely to shift him into that role in the June, July, or August while he could get him regular work in AAA to focus on the small developmental details that will help him against ML hitters. He's pitched a career-best 106 innings so far and every inning adds to that total so I think they are very close to bringing him up to the big leagues to test his talent out of the pen against better competition, but they didn't want to pull that trigger too early since they see his long-term future as a starter. I expect him to be a weapon for the Astros out of the bullpen in the postseason.
  3. Agreed about Goodrum obviously and I think he will lose his 40-man roster spot very soon.
  4. Ha you should've played it off as Meyers slander
  5. Obviously Reddick isn't MLB material now, but I double-dog dare you not to smile at the clips of him playing that crazy Globetrotter baseball shit in Savannah and having so much fun doing it. Reddick has a nice life and seems like a helluva dad.
  6. Same, took me a sec to realize it was slander against Meyers and Dubon.
  7. Damn I didn't realize Brinson's age or his major league experience. Seems like he's just minor league roster filler more than a potential stop-gap player on a major league roster.
  8. Yep, and that would also give them a chance to call up someone from AAA like Yanier Diaz or Brinson and see what they can do
  9. I'm very interested to see the 40-man roster moves the next six days or so. I'm sure Hunter Brown will at least see a call up when rosters expand but it's worth noting that he cannot be playoff eligible unless he is added to the 40 man prior to Sept 1......
  10. Is Yordan ever gonna homer again? Winning cures everything of course, but I'm a bit concerned about his hand. His slash line in August is .225/.318/.310 which is very un-Yordan.
  11. I bought both Bleach and Louder than Love in the fall of '89 at Sound Exchange so I couldn't click on this interview fast enough. What a score for Beato.
  12. 101.2 exit velo for Bregman on that sac fly with an xBA of .570
  13. Counterpoint: Astros: "Yordan's hand is fine, x-rays were negative and he's in the lineup tonight." Surly: "Yordan needs rest, his hand is clearly still bothering him."
  14. You would be surprised how many don't since Texas doesn't require it.
  15. That sumbitch weed is nutsedge. This works as a post-emergent...... https://www.amazon.com/Sedgehammer-Plus-Herbicide-Grams-Packs/dp/B007PHNUOE
  16. And some here think Abreu should be high in the leverage pecking order behind Pressly? Can't be walkin mofos right there but hey at least he got it done so that's good.
