Thanks, I’ll check it out when I’m out there next week.
-
I should clarify, I took home several cuts that my brother didn’t want, so it wasn’t a true half.
-
Yellowbird is so delicious.

Haven’t been to Scotty’s. What do you recommend? It looks like anything bbq that they serve is DAF.
-
Went there once when they first opened and it was decent, but I always forget about it and haven't been back. Is it still open?
It is. Not a bad option if you find yourself on that side of town. Not many options out there. -
Garlic Press is overrated but the duck with crawfish etouffee is fantastic.
La Condesa is really good Mexican food. Dona Anita’s is great as well.
The best bbq comes from HEB, though Macs can be good if you catch them on a day everything didn’t come out from underneath the heat lamp. Their Mac n cheese is so so good.
The new pho place, Tasty 160, is pretty solid. Egg rolls are fantastic. -
If you aren’t getting the jalapeño appetizer at Cancun you’re missing out.
1) Brussels at Uchi
2) Jalapeños at Cancun
So good. -
For reference, I recently spent just under $1000 for half a steer. Take home was a little over 350#. Finished on grain.

My first round back after a ~10 year hiatus was at Lajitas. You can imagine how that went. Love that place though.

Grew up in a town <1000. You couldn't pay me enough money to live that life again.
-
Hell yeah Jordan!!
-
I’ve got a pair of The Wyatt and love them. Very comfortable.

Do they sell that stuff here?
Sri racha of course. I usually keep some Frank’s Red Hot or Texas Pete, and Cholula or Valentina. Lately I’ve been using the Yellowbird Blue Agave Sri Racha (available at nicer HEBs - yes Brodie maybe no Slaughter), all of those are good.
There’s another local Sri Racha with a rattlesnake or diamondback on the bottle and I don’t like it. Way too ketchupy.
Their habanero one is fantastic. Smothered some eggs in it this morning. -

Sup Hitby!

My new board resolution is to make darker roux.
But I am still using the oven.
I don’t care who it pisses off, it’s the easiest way. -
Drool.
Glad to see you made it over. -
That’s a SUV.

Does OP have to work in the office all the time? You should negotiate some flex office times, where you just stay home on certain days or alter your office times so you are missing the heaviest traffic times. This was a game changer for several people I know.
Thanks for all of the help. Sounds like it’s going to be an absolute beating.
I will be traveling at least a week every month and will be able to work from home on Fridays.
Living next to an interstate sounds like a must. -
Hell yes. Thank you ERhine for bringing those recipes over. I routinely referenced that thread on shaggy when it was time for a pot.
-
Yep that thing is badass. Very cool you still own it.

Am I looking at an hour from out there or worse? I already commute 45 minute each way, so it’s nothing I can’t handle. Does that hour frequently turn into an hour and a half?

Single, married, kids? It makes a big difference what your personal situation is. If you don't have kids and need the schools there is no way you should life as far out as cinco ranch. If you do need schools then I would consider parts of the Spring Branch School District.
Someone has to think of the kids. I’ll look into the area, thanks.
