This team is gonna drop another game.  Between the O being sporadic and allowing Sam to be sacked infinity and the patchwork D that is almost last in the country I don't see it.

We are not beating all of Tech, ISU, and Baylor. Anyone or all of those guys have a shot at beating us.

  2. I think the gap between the top 1-2 teams and that middle group of 3, 4, and 5 teams is not as big as some people think. It's still colllege football and there's upsets waiting to happen. I don't see our the games against Baylor and ISU as automatic.

Campbell’s luster is wearing off at warp speed

Yes to that, I watched the game and he clearly has an issue with his temper. I thought he was going to go full Woodie Hays with a couple of his players. That game made me think last year was a fluke foot ISU.

  4. I don't guess I really care how any future realignment shakes out as long as college football survives. I don't want to see an NFL-Light creation of a bunch of blue bloods. I like seeing a really good G5 team that can punch above it's weight class. I like going to regional rivalry games and I like playing schools where students can do road trips by auto. I don't enjoy going to NFL games and I'm afraid some of these super conference ideas would become similar.

I dropped cable several years ago, not just because of ESPN but it was a big part of it. I hated the political crap but I also hated the deliberate push of women's sports. I love women, love tits and ass. I have 2 daughters, I have a great wife. I don't care about softball or women's basketball. They keep trying to make women's sports a huge deal and it's just not gonna happen. I also can't stand the way they just HAVE to toss in a hot chick on some debate show. They want to promote women in sports and "we're more than just a pretty face" but they blow it by having a random hot chick on there, like that's really where she wants to be, talking sports with the fellas. Yes, I'd rather look at Holly Saunders than Barry Melrose but eventually, she's gonna open her mouth and the whole thing is over.

For whatever reason, I don't mind women that are commentating at an actual game, like Doris Burke. Or Dottie Pepper on a golf telecast. They sound knowledgeable and don't try to be a know it all IMO.

Yes women's sports will never be a huge deal but they actually are a deal that can't legally be ignored by universities and you know UCONN is the local team. I watch some women's basketball on a random basis like UT vs Baylor or UT vs UCONN. It beats WWE for me.

I've been unimpressed with guard development under Carey's coaching. I'm actually quite surprised Aston hired Tiffany Jackson as an assistant. She wasn't very well liked by fellow teammates during her playing tenure, during which time Aston was an assistant coach. I can't imagine her personality suddenly has changed and is now relatable to the players.

As for Aston, I think we've seen her ceiling as a coach. Never beating Baylor is unacceptable. Wonder how long Del Conte will hang onto her before a change is made.

Aston has to be graded objectively by Del Conte. If Big12 Championships are the goal, waiting for Mulkey to retire is not acceptable.

  7. Rhule had something like 50 scholarship players when he arrived at Baylor. In two years he has moved Baylor past the state of Kansas and beat both Tech and oSu this year. He is pretty good on the recruiting trail and seems to develop players well. Seems like a great fit at Baylor. I don't get the NFL stuff either but the Baylor AD on radio said there have been FBS inquiries but Rhule hasn't been interested in other FBS schools. I like conference competition so I hope Rhule and Matt Campbell stick around and hopefully the new coach at Tech will be competitive.

He's worked small miracles at schools like Temple and Baylor.  Is that NFL worthy?  I'm not sure.  But what he did at Baylor last season -- after most of us thought that program was headed right back to the conference cellar it occupied for so long -- is pretty remarkable.  If he stays at Baylor, he could make that team respectable, and possibly even less rapey.

I'm impressed by him and Matt Campbell too. I don't know what makes someone an NFL type but by all accounts both Rhule and Campbell check the boxes. As we have seen before, winning at the college level is not one of the boxes. I hope Campbell and Rhule both stay in the Big12 because they make the Big12 better, well except that Alamo Bowl.

You don't think he would leave Baylor if he was offered the Jets HC Job?

I think he's like Matt Campbell and would leave in a heartbeat for the right job but the Jets organization makes Jerry Jones look like a well oiled machine.

  10. The NFL has some hiring limitations, you can't go buy a currently successful NFL coach because he's under contract and that owner is not going to agree to an interview, a trade maybe. So you have retreads, current OCs because it would be a promotion and unemployed college coaches. The  pool of successful college coaches are either being paid excessively, don't want an NFL job, or not a good fit. So people like Kingsbury get interviews and in fact might be a successful NFL coach because the game is a lot different than coaching 18-22 year olds. Plus, as michaelpshayes says above, "the NFL has a lot of retards for owners and GMs".
