If some states/teams/conferences/players want to play, please respect their decision.
If some states/teams/conferences/players don't want to play, please respect their decision.
Same thing for fans that want to attend/don't want to attend, please respect their decision.
Ultimately, everyone will have to live with the consequences of their own choices.

Putting this here because high school football:
Buster Gilbreth, head coach of the Cuero Gobblers during their championship runs during the 70's, died this week.
QuoteBut it was his 11 years with the Cuero Gobblers that left an indelible mark on Texas high school football. Gilbreth compiled a record of 107-22-4, of which 50 were shutouts. The Gobblers advanced to the playoffs nine times and made four State 3A Finals appearances in 1970, 1973, 1974 and 1975. The Gobblers won back to back Championships in 1973 and 1974 with undefeated seasons. Gilbreth’s Gobblers won 44 consecutive games from 1973 to 1975, shutting out the opponent in 27 games and allowing a total of only 161 points during the winning streak. This streak still ranks in the top ten of Texas high school football records. In 1974, Harris Ratings Weekly selected Gilbreth Coach of the Year and the Cuero Gobblers Team of the Year. In 2014 Fox Southwest Sports selected Gilbreth and the Gobblers to be featured in their documentary, “Legends of Texas High School Football” covering the success of Gobbler Football for the last five decades.

That sucks. Hope he’s okay long term, whatever it is.
Never heard of the backup. Matthew Downing
edit: it appears Downing was a walk-on at Georgia and then transfered to TCU. What happened to the Collins guy?
Downing will probably have a career game against Texas, and will be mentioned in the Heisman race afterwards.

There are rectangular steel boxes on the roofs of both towers. The boxes are on the outside edges of the towers. Any ideas what these would be?
-
I'm guessing CDC now has an idea of the number of season ticket holders foregoing their tickets this year, so they are good with 25 percent.now at 25% according to CDC.

Did you go to Pearle Vision?
I went to one of a drive through testing places. I didn't get out of my car. That would be great if Pearle Vision had drive through eye exams!

FBI looking into Houston consulate spying on UT-Austin

FBI looking into possible Chinese spying on UT-Austin’s COVID-19 research
The FBI is investigating whether the Chinese government attempted to illegally obtain COVID-19 research from American universities, including the University of Texas at Austin, according to an email obtained by the Houston Chronicle. The federal law enforcement agency told UT officials last week that the July 22 closure of the Chinese Consulate in Houston sparked the probe, wrote Daniel Jaffe, UT’s interim executive vice president and provost, in an email to the university’s faculty, graduate and post-doctorate students on Monday.
As a result of this “ongoing and evolving national situation,” the FBI will contact UT researchers “about the role of the consulate and efforts by the Chinese government to illegally procure research from American universities,” Jaffe said.
“We do not know whom the FBI intends to contact or what they plan to discuss, nor have we shared anyone’s information or details about ongoing research with FBI agents,” Jaffe wrote. “It’s not unusual for federal law enforcement officers to ask to speak with researchers if deemed necessary to support criminal or national security investigations.”
The FBI San Antonio office referred the Chronicle to the U.S. State Department, whose officials said they are now working on the newspaper’s request for additional information.
U.S. officials took over and closed the Chinese consulate in Houston last week as ordered by the Trump administration amid accusations of espionage activity. The Trump administration, which confirmed the closure, cited a need to protect American intellectual property and private information. The Chinese government threatened to retaliate and on July 24, announced the closure of a U.S. consulate in Chengdu.
The Justice Department also indicted two suspected Chinese hackers, alleging they targeted U.S. companies conducting COVID-19 research. Several research facilities within the Texas Medical Center are involved in that work. In addition, federal authorities claimed the alleged hackers stole “business proposals and other documents concerning space and satellite applications” from an unnamed technology firm in Texas. That firm was just one of 25 victims across the U.S. and abroad that were named in the indictment.
Jaffe, UT’s provost, urged students with questions or concerns about sharing details of their work with anyone to contact their deans for research and Jeff Graves, UT’s associate vice president for legal affairs. Students should also alert the information security office about any phishing attempts or unsolicited emails from foreign countries or entities.
“Our international scholars are a vital part of our research community. You enrich our environment and are critical to our teams’ success, and we value your contributions,” Jaffe said. “We realize that this news is coming during an already difficult time, so we encourage you to reach out to your supervisors or Texas Global and let us know how we can continue to support you.”

Apparently, it's not a random piece of steel. They're now building on top of it. It's the open decks that the concept photos show. Of course, in real life, they won't be open and will probably be filled with concession stands.
