  1. The Boston Red Sox could lose their next seven games in a row, and they’d still have the best record in baseball.
  2. Wow. What a win. Four wins in a row, 8-2 over the last 10, and most importantly... 4-game sweep over the Yanks and 9.5 game lead in the division.

    That was a fun game.

Well, those errors certainly cancelled each other out.

That was rough. Clearly he’s still hurt.
  6. Well, Sale all of the sudden will not pitch in Toronto. Sounds like there’s nothing to be concerned about regarding the injury, they just want to skip him for one more start. Pomeranz, Johnson, and Porcello will start in Toronto. Stoll very precautionary, so I’m not freaking out... yet.

Lance McCullers Jr. placed on 10-day DL for elbow discomfort. Impressive that they’ve used the same 5 starters all year until now.

Gah... the Astros took it up a notch all of a sudden. The LMJ elbow issues are effing scary, though.
  9. Aroldis Chapman and Dellin Betances combined IP at Fenway Park this year in 6 total games: 1.0 IP that's it.

Yes, most definitely, re: Gardner as well. Was hoping to save the ump gifts for games the Sox needed, but here we are...
  11. Did anyone go to the show on Tuesday? Thought it was awesome. I'll gladly pay $5 for a pic of Trey doing the "hook 'em" sign. (I was too slow with my phone for some reason.)

As a Sox fan, I (almost) agree with you... the novelty of having last year's WS rematch is too rare to pass up. But maybe the time zone discrepancy and the length of games (and advertising $) makes a difference for ESPN. (Although Friday's Sox-Yanks game was 2:15... the shortest between those two since 1994!) But most importantly, since it's David Price vs the Yankees on ESPN Sunday Night, I'm certain he's gonna get shellacked. So I don't like that.
  13. This trade already looks brilliant.

    Rick Porcello was almost Maddux-like in his efficiency tonight. 9.0 IP CG, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 9 K, 86 pitches...and retired the last 21 batters he faced.
  15. Rick Porcello is good.

I was late turning on the game... but fuck Luis Severino. That’s some bullshit to pull on his first pitch of the game. (And the immediate ump show and tossing Alex Cora eight seconds later is almost just as bad.)

Steve Pearce is still good at baseball. (He was DFA’d by the Yankees in 2012, btw.)
  18. Well, that escalated quickly last night. It sounds convenient to say it now, but even right after the Yanks were up 3-0 in he first, you knew it was far from over. Severino has been struggling lately... let’s see if the bats can stay hot tonight.

Yeah... that’s definitely been a surpringly-awesome trade. Dombrowski ain’t half bad sometimes.

  21. True. It sounds like he’ll only miss one start, and is tentatively on track to pitch again Aug. 7 @ Toronto. Big series this weekend... fuck ‘em.
  22. Fuuuuuuuuuuck. Did not see that one coming. If if they can still somehow split the series vs the MFYs, that would be very nice.
  23. This is an interesting lineup: Benintendi LF Swihart C Moreland 1B Martinez RF Bogaerts SS Kinsler 2B Núñez 3B Holt DH Bradley Jr. C
  24. Three good things: 1. Great walk-off extra innings win tonight, thanks to Blake Swihart and his 10-game hitting streak. 2. E-Rod is cleared to ramp up his rehab program. Still not throwing from a mound yet, but it's a good sign. 3. Ian Kinsler... why not? He's obviously past his prime, but he (surprisingly) still has a higer WAR this season than any other Sox position player not named Betts, Benintendi, Martinez, or Bogaerts (and he has a .859 OPS since May 28).

Nice. I'll take this as a sign Brandon Phillips isn't going to pan out and Pedroia is out for the year... might as well get another has-been at 2B.
