  1. Jackie Bradley Jr.’s last 25 games: .302/.371/.558/.929, 4 HR, 13 XBH, 4-for-4 SB. He also had one of the best catches of the year yesterday.
  2. So... JD Martinez no longer has 32 HRs. Kind of a shitty move by the Orioles yesterday, but it’s to be expected. Oh well, hopefully the bats stay alive vs the Twins this weekend.

Rays trade Nathan Eovaldi to the Red Sox for a (not very good) prospect.
  4. Nathan Eovaldi will help.
  5. Sox record when JBJ has: HR ≥ 1 - (7-0, 1.000) XBH ≥ 1 - (23-1, .958) 2B ≥ 1 - (16-1, .941) RBI ≥ 1 - (21-2, .913) R ≥ 1 - (31-4, .886) K = 0 - (32-5, .865) BB ≥ 1 - (21-4, .840) H ≥ 1 - (37-10, .787)
  6. Happy birthday, Nomar. The Sox are 40 games over .500.
  7. Nice win today, and I think JBJ might be (finally, officially) “heating up.” His last 70 at-bats: .314/.364/.557 with 8 doubles, 3 homers and 18 RBIs.
  8. Hate to admit it, but it’s true. Per Pete Abraham: Pomeranz struggling in rehab games, Wright on DL, Beeks hit hard in MLB, etc. As of right now, they have four starters counting Johnson.
  9. Nice end to the break. 12 of 13. But some bad news about E-Rod. Alex Cora with a concerning update on Eduardo Rodriguez: "There is some serious damage to the ankle. No surgery required. He is going to have a boot for two weeks and then we will re evaluate after that. Some ligament damage, yeah."

  11. Pitching wins are overrated, but Sale, Porcello, E-Rod, and Price all have 10 wins before the All-Star break. First time in franchise history it’s happened. First time it’s happened in all of MLB since 1977.

That whole at-bat was incredible. He worked the hell out of Happ (who threw 46 pitches that inning), and just kept fouling them off until he made a mistake. First 13-pitch AB that ended in a grand slam since ‘92. https://www.mlb.com/video/c-2261997983
  13. That was the most incredible at-bat of the year by Mookie just now. The dude is fucking unreal.
  14. Devers to the DL for an inflamed shoulder... kinda surprising. Doesn’t sound too serious. Pedroia still is a ways out. Gonna be another 4-5 weeks until he even gets another MRI. I’ll personally be surprised if he suits up again this year. A damn shame, given how the rest of the team looks.
  15. Oh, and the MFYs just lost. Again. To the Orioles.
  16. It’s always nice to win the first two of a series and have Sale in the mound for the finale. The Red Sox aren’t the best team ever, but they’re pretty damn good at beating crap teams this year.
  17. It’ll be interesting to see how many games Swihart gets with Vazquez on the DL. Sounds like CV will be out 2-3 weeks, so hopefully Swihart can get something going. Though there’s plenty of talk of trading for a catcher if they can get a cheap rental. Can’t imagine the Rangers would ask too much for Chirinos... Also, after this game vs the Royals (going well so far, but not quite over), the rest of the month looks favorable: 3 vs Rangers 4 vs Jays All-Star Break 3 @ Tigers 3 @ O’s 4 vs Twins 2 vs Phillies Also worth noting: after today, the Sox only have 30 road games left in the season. (They are 28-12 at home... a 70% win percentage. That is quite nice.)
  18. Sox MLB ranks: 1. Runs (443) 1. Runs per game (5.15) 1. OPS (.786) 1. SB (65) 1. Doubles (181) 2. HR (121) 2. BA (.266) Let’s keep it going vs the Nats. Last night was a fun one.
  19. Looks like I went to the wrong game...
  20. Yeah, yeah, I know... Am actually hitting up three games in three different parks while on vacation — last night at Fenway, Friday night at Yankee Mausoleum, and the 4th of July at Nationals Park. I’ll post pics of all three at a more convenient time.
  21. When’s the last time both Swihart and JBJ got a hit in the same game? (I’m too lazy to look it up, but I can’t inagine it’s been recent.) Was at the game at Fenway last night, always a blast, especially when they’re scoring runs. Speaking of Fenway, it’s the only park in the AL in which Mike Trout hasn’t homered in. Here’s to hoping that stat remains through Thursday. Also regarding JBJ: Jackie Bradley Jr. went from .181 with a .570 OPS to .199 with a .614 OPS in two days. *Maybe* he’s turning it around???

Hanley Ramirez is apparently under investigation for a murder in the Dominican Republic in 2015. So... I can see why he is still a free agent.
  24. Record in games started this year: 13-1 Eduardo Rodriguez 10-4 David Price 9-6 Rick Porcello 8-8 Chris Sale Can’t keep doing Sale like this.
  25. Well, it was still a fun season. Hats off to Pierce and the guys.
