  1. Love to watch clips of Lee - he was amazing, and the old caddie in me really like to see Herman Mitchell get some time on camera as well.

Loved hearing Lee Trevino’s stories/jokes growing up. I still think his best is after being on tour for a while and making decent money, he was mowing his suburban Dallas yard. It was “Dallas Hot” so he took off his shirt.

A big caddy pulls up and stops, rolls the window down, and asks “Sonny how much do you charge?” Which he replies, “I don’t know, but the lady inside lets me sleep with her!” Window gets rolled up as fast as possible and car takes off!

    Lee Trevino at his finest!

  2. Yes - Nike before Nike. Nice work by a youngster though. In elementary school I wrote and drew/colored a book about Monday Night Football. In it I drew Dandy Don, Frank G, and Howard Cosell. Mom still has it.

In the ‘70s my parents would let me watch the game through the highlight show during halftime, then off to bed!

  3. From the bathroom, Corn Nation has thoughts.  Maybe better suited for the Nebraska thread.  Feel free to move if deemed appropriate.

I too do my best podcasts sitting on the terlet/office.

Sometimes I sit and think and sometimes I just sit.

  4. This is also why I've never quite grasped why people in Oklahoma go 'noodling.' Seems like a bad idea. I'mma stand on the bank with a pole and be happy fishing from there.

When I was a teenager in SETX, late ‘80s, we’d go “golf ball hunting” at night. The Pine Island bayou ran through my local golf course. We’d rig up a flashlight to a golf cart battery, scan for glowing eyes (gators) and wade into the water short of a couple of greens. We’re talking knee to waist high water, barefooted, and you could feel the golf balls. Sometimes the current of the bayou formed pockets where you could harvest dozens of balls at one time.

Sometimes you thought you were stepping on a rock, but then it’d move! How we didn’t lose fingers, toes, or worse doing that shit is beyond me! That whole bayou was filled with big ass turtles, gar, snakes, and gators. We’d shot them all over the years, but to ask me to do that shit today, it’d be a big Hell No!

Wasn’t worth the selling of nice balls at a $1 a piece, less the ones we kept.

  5. I forgot about Trey, as he didn’t see the field. Hopefully for Sam, he’ll still be hanging around to help a team after the starting QB goes down for a couple of weeks. He’d shown progress with the Colts during pre-season and was statistically their best QB the last two years (pre-season).

  6. Even wade fishing off Bolivar. Driven by boat to some sand bars off the coast. Reeling in my catch line and seeing nothing but “heads left” makes you realize real quick that shit swimming out here have teeth!

And I hate fishing in brown water that you can’t see your feet while waist deep. Been bumped multiple times and it’s always like WTF, why am I not in the boat?

  7. Any word on Sam’s status in 2024? Does he still have another season under contract with the Colts or is there a chance for a FA move to another team?

It’d be nice for him to back up Dak, for homer reasons alone.

  8. That Vikings vs Cowboys game was the game where some guy, dressed in a Snowman costume, caught himself on fire about one section over and three rows down from us.

Apparently he’d spilt some of his liquor on the outfit, then he went to light a cigarette, and POOF!!!!

I said “Dad, Dad, the Snowman which had caught a kid’s attention was on fire!!!” Dad just said, watch the game son. There are clips of that happening online and I was within eyesight of the whole thing. As a kid, F the game, as that was amazing!

  9. There is no recourse for fans willing to attend a game in “cold as hell” temperatures. They knew the weather forecast prior to attending or at least should’ve.

I remember attending a Vikings vs Cowboys playoff game, with my Dad, late ‘70s. Really, really cold for us Texans! Mom made Dad and I a big thermos of hot chocolate (you could bring that stuff into games back then). Dad being a HS FB Coach wanted to get there early for pre-game activities on the field. Well, the hot chocolate was GONE prior to even KO.

Towards the end of the 1st Qtr, Dad went to get get more hot chocolate and came back asking if I’d like a cup of coffee, as that’s the only warm beverage available! First introduction to coffee! I was like 8-9 years old.

  10. If I was Mister Money Bags and had the first pick, it wouldn’t be Caleb W. Just based on his off the field shit. I’d go JJ Macarthy or Jalen Daniels before him. 5 years from now my opinion might look like a dumbass, just my read.

  11. Caleb W - for all the “highlight” plays on his career tape, just sends a pause on his pre/post game mentality. I just can’t read him, so IMO he’d be a hard NO on being picked 1st in the overall draft.

He might end up being the best ever, but that’s a chance I’d be willing to take, if he wasn’t on my team during the first 2-3 years of his NFL career.

  12. Still waiting on LHN to go live. To be honest, Craig “paints” such a great picture of the game, I don’t mind missing watching vs listening. Wife permitting, she’ll leave me alone with a stoggie or two, as well as a couple cold ones on the porch. Don’t even need to come in to pee once it’s dark!

  13. What are scheduled days remaining for 40s?  I know DB's are usually last.
