  1. Every year I run a squares board for march madness. Game explained below if you haven't played. There are other surly-shag-horns who are already in. I just opened a second board due to selling out the first one in 24 hours. Let me know if interested...

The game works just like a Super Bowl squares board, except that instead of only being good for ONE game, the board is good for EVERY game in the NCAA Tournament (starting with the Round of 64), with payouts increasing in each round!  That's 63 chances to win!  At the end of each game (final score, including overtime), you take the last digit of the Winner's score, and the last digit of the Loser's score, and find the corresponding square.  If that square is yours, you win!

This is a lot of fun, and keeps your interest in every game. Those annoying ass free throws at the end all of the sudden become the most exciting part of the game!

    Entry and Payouts:

NOTE: If you already participated in my pool last year, do NOT join again. Just login to your account from last year.

Round of 32: $100 per game (16 chances to win)

Sweet 16: $200 per game (8 chances to win)

Elite 8: $300 per game (4 chances to win)

    Final 4: $600/Game (2 chances to win)

Championship: $1100 minus fees for board and 1 Free square for the organizer (me). (1 chance to win)

*The “First Four” or “Play-in Games” will not count.

  2. Bump

Thinking about doing this... I had Freedom Solar come give their pitch and pricing earlier this week.

    Annual spend on energy: $2100
Cost of 28 panel system (after rebate:tax) $23k
Moved in our house in July and put on a new roof at the time.

Thoughts? Seems like a no brainer. Have it paid off in 10 years and then gravy going forward.

  3. Gents,

I don’t care where you get your hair did, but when and if you get the chance to visit the Bar Bar in downtown ATX, I highly recommend.

It’s a small place and beers on tap are rotating, but it’s an awesome place to call home for a beer or two. If you are a regular like me, you can rent a locker and store your spirits of choice. Brian, the bartender, has all the set ups and he is good at both pouring drinks and conversation.

    On tap this week:

  4. Mind blown.

So anyway I’m interested in this thread too. Isla Mujeres is one of my favorite places on earth, but I like the idea of a scaled back version as long as it still has pretty beaches, simple but good food, and casual bars to sit at and slowly pickle myself. Where are the best places to stay? What’s the production like to get there from CUN?

Pretty sure we are going to pull the trigger and are going to airBNB it.

    Likely here with another fam:

Also found this place, but certainly not kid friendly:

The wife knows many who have been and rave about it.  We just did Playa and Mexico City...Holbox is not as convenient but totally worth it.  It's on the agenda.

I'll throw in a shameless plug for Mexico City.  My spanish sucks, wife a little better...still, we had an amazing time.  Stay in Roma.  Easy 3.5 hour direct from Chicago.  Great food and culture.  Sorry, didn't meant to highjack the thread with that plug.

Mexico City is on the list this year also. Will be without kid though.
