Just in case anyone was interested, since I really was. This is the live tracking of the Fury/Usyk fight by JABBR, the AI tracking system. Supposedly 99% accurate. They had 30 cameras + a 360 cam at the fight to catch all the action. It's wild when you dig into the actual stats completely. The AI thinks based on its system of tracking punches, damaging shots, aggression, etc., that Usyk won every round but the 5th and 6th. So even the rounds I thought were close and gave to Fury, the AI is like, nah, he got pieced up. Really just goes to show how fucky boxing scorecards are compared to what really happens in a fight. I've linked this video with the timestamp where the fight starts. You can skip near the end to see the full stats at around 7:25:00. Look in the lower right corner under Deepstrike Fight Flow to see how the AI scored the fight.

Re-watched the fight today just to score it and it was wider in Usyk's favor than the official scorecards. Rounds 1-3 were Usyk by a mile. I think Fury's showboating might have influenced some people, but Usyk was working him in all these rounds. Also, Usyk was blocking a lot of shots with his gloves/forearms. Rounds 4-6 were Fury by a mile. Fury got into a rhythm and he couldn't miss with his right hand. The looping right body shot and the right uppercut were killing Usyk every time he tried to close the distance. Fury really hurt Usyk in the 6th round. The most I've ever seen Usyk hurt. Still, Usyk took it well and kept coming forward. Round 7 was close, but Usyk blocked a lot of shots and he finished the round strong. Still, could go either way. You can see Fury start to slow down in the back half of this round. Round 8 Usyk got back on the gas and he really works Fury here. Usyk breaks Fury's nose in this round and it was a big turning point in the fight. Fury keeps pawing at it and he never got back on track in the entire fight after it happened. Round 9 was the blowout. Ref really saved Fury's ass. Should have been waved off or the ref should have jumped in much earlier and gave Fury a standing 8 count. If that had happened, Usyk would have finished him before the round was up. Fury has never been that hurt before in his entire career. Even when Wilder floored him in the 12th of their first fight he was clear eyed. He had zero control of his body here. One more shot and he would have been through the ropes. Rounds 10-11 were all Usyk. Usyk was gassed from trying to finish Fury the previous round so not much happened in the 10th, but he still landed some solid shots on Fury. 11th was more of the same, but with Usyk landing even more. Round 12 is the one I have a problem with. All three judges gave this round to Fury. I don't really know why. He lands one big hard right hook on Usyk in the round, but that was it. Usyk lands several solid shots. It was a swing round at best. I think this was home cooking for the A-side so the fight seemed closer than it really was. So seven rounds to Usyk plus the knockdown. Give Fury the three rounds he absolutely deserved plus the two close rounds (7, 12). 115-112 Usyk. Pretty typical Usyk fight, IMO. He started fast, kept the pressure up, and was highly accurate with his shots. Once the bigger man got tired, Usyk went into an even higher gear and started doing real damage and cruised to a win. I just think Fury's size and reach slowed him down a bit since he was having to work so much harder to get inside and land his shots. The most surprising thing to me was how well Fury did. He actually hurt Usyk at one point and took that little stretch in the middle with some great boxing. I thought after the Ngannou debacle he was finished, but he got himself together, showed up in shape, and put on a good fight.

It's going to go down as a classic. One of the best HW title fights I've seen. Both guys performed well and had each other hurt. Crazy that a fight this hyped up and for all these belts actually lived up to the expectations. Boxing got a huge win with this fight.

Yeah, you're wildly off base here. They actually implemented AI fight tracking in this fight. System works really well. Can tell the difference between a jab and a power shot. It can tell if a punch gets blocked. It's, quite frankly, amazing. Has Usyk winning by much wider than what we got on the scorecards. https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1cvak65 If you just want to go by CompuBox numbers, well, Usyk won there, too. https://www.boxingscene.com/compubox-stats-oleksandr-usyk-tyson-fury--183645 Plus, one guy was past queer street into Willy Wonka's Wonderland at one point and was only saved by the ref getting in the aggressor's way and then the round ending after getting a standing 8 count. That guy wasn't Usyk. First three rounds were close, Fury took the next three, and then Usyk (as he always does) took the back half of the fight while also knocking Fury silly. Definitely deserved the win.

Great fucking fight. Fury actually impressed me with how much damage he was able to put on Usyk and slow him down. The Ukrainian just isn't to be fucked with, though. Dude keeps the throttle wide open on you the entire fight and these big heavyweights just wilt. Honestly, the fight could have been stopped. Ropes kept Fury up. I've always said Usyk doesn't get credit for how hard he can punch. He just chooses not to risk sitting down on shit. He waits until you get exhausted and then he'll put it on ya. Usyk has to go down as one of the all-time greats. Olympic gold, 335 amateur wins, Undisputed Cruiser champ, and now Undisputed Heavyweight champ after beating guys twice his fucking size. He's a phenom. Oh, and Fury is a bitch for complaining about the decision afterwards. Usyk clearly won that fight even though Fury took some rounds in the middle. Show some class you gypsy fuck.
-
Fury has spent his entire career fighting middling plodders. Just big, slow guys who hit hard. He's never seen anyone the skill level of Usyk. Usyk is a killer. He's never been knocked down in his pro career and he just opens the throttle up and wears these heavyweights down. Man went 24 rounds with a much harder puncher in AJ and was never seriously hurt or in trouble in either of those fights. If this was just a straight up boxing match it would be Usyk and it wouldn't even be close. However, they've got the ref from Pacquiao v. Horn who let Horn throw elbows all sorts of other shit. Fury loves his dirty boxing. Plus, it's fairly clear the Saudis want Fury v. AJ. So I imagine Fury is going to get worked, but he'll dirty this shit up to make the rounds close and get a robbery on the cards. Hope I'm wrong and it's a clean fight with a clear winner.

Small ball the fuck out of 'em, boys!

That Marcus guy is pretty good at baseball.

Just had some brisket and now get to watch a double-header. Today is good a day.

His power has to run out at some point, right? Right? Dude is by far the P4P#1. Just scary what he does to top tier guys. Then he moves up a division and does it to the best guys there. Then he moves up and. . .

This was a way more egregious fuckup than the Penix pick, IMO. Picking Penix causes you problems and costs you in a lot of ways, but the QB position is that important. However, this move was just flat out bad. This Orhohoho kid is an athletic freak, but he's the guy who needs the most development at the DT position. He's not a plug and play monster. And no one had him ranked that highly. The Falcons could have stood pat and still gotten him. Or they could have traded up and grabbed a CB like Koo-laid McKinstry that they need and still pick this guy up later. Instead, they just gave away their Calvin Ridley 3rd round comp pick. Here's PFF's thinking on the Falcons' draft and all the nuances of the Penix pick.

Went about the way I expected. Munguia is a tough kid, but he doesn't have elite level skills. It's hurt his development that he just hasn't faced any real competition over his 43 fights. Derevyanchenko was his toughest opponent I think and it took a 12 round KD to win that for Munguia. I still think Benevidez gives Canelo all sorts of problems. And I think Canelo thinks that too, which is why he's avoiding them. Hopefully Canelo nuts up and fights him or drops the belts at Super Middle.

He's throwing the ball around at minicamp currently. He passed a physical for everything but his Achilles, which is supposed to be a separate physical they do later on.

The Packers drafted Love as a Plan B. The Chiefs drafted Mahomes as a Plan B. In both cases with the goal for them to eventually be Plan A. Which is exactly what the Falcons have done. They just look stupid because the guy getting replaced just showed up and hasn't been an entrenched starter for years. And because they spent the #8 pick. This is absolutely right. Cousins' contract is front loaded. $100 mill guaranteed sounds like crazy money, but it isn't in today's NFL. Derek "I'm the definition of mid" Carr has a $100 mill guaranteed deal. Daniel Dogwater Jones has a $100 mill guaranteed deal. It's what QBs cost nowadays. Anyway, Cousins' cap hit in Year 3 is $57.5 million. So, I don't know what load of horse manure Blank and the Falcons' brass sold Cousins, but he was never going to be the guy for more than two years. In three years when that huge cap hit would be coming down the Falcons are going to be needing to handle a lot of other contracts on the team. They aren't going to have the money. And yeah, according to reports, the Falcons had Penix graded as the #2 QB behind Williams. Maybe that's a crazy evaluation and completely off base, but if they really think that it's kind of hard for them to pass on the guy. And they absolutely would have lost out on him. Either Minnesota, Denver, or Las Vegas would have snatched him. The word is multiple other teams had him rated much higher than the consensus board. I just don't think it's pants on head crazy to go get you a future franchise QB while also paying a vet who can win games for you now with a talented roster. Culture is an important thing that not many people talk about. The Falcons have a loser culture. They miss the playoffs every year even in a shit division and Blank can't fill up that new stadium of his on game days. Get you a veteran who can win now and then get you the QB of the future. It's going to cost you. But it's always going to cost you to find your franchise guy. With both Cousins/Penix you get to teach up your rook who you hope is the 10+ year guy while also giving Morris a smooth start to his coaching gig while hopefully winning the division, making noise in the playoffs, and establishing a winning culture.

Vince kinda ruined going to games for me. I got to see him beat Michigan and then win the Natty the very next year. Two amazing trips to Pasadena in back-to-back years. How do you top that? My football watching life peaked when I was 21 years old.

I watched all of the Falcons' games last year so I could see Bijan. That team was in the worst division in the NFL. They had the easiest SOS in the league. They had a solid roster. Great O-line, Bijan is Barry Sanders lite, Drake London catches everything, Pitts has fallen off but he's a weapon, and their defense was very good. They could easily have won 12 games. Instead, they lost to the Titans playing a rookie QB in his first start. They lost to Arizona on Kyler's first game back from a year layoff. They lost to the Sam Howell led Commanders. They lost to the Vikings when the Passtronaut had only been on the team for like two days and didn't even know the plays. They lost to the fucking Panthers when they had to have a win to secure a playoff spot. Why? Because their QB was absolute garbage. Just gave multiple games away with his turnovers. Guys would be running wide open and he wouldn't even see them and instead would throw ducks into double coverage. Bijan had to catch every pass jumping with one hand because Ridder was so inaccurate with his throws. So is it goofy for the Falcons to go whole hog on the QB? Yeah. But I get it. Bad QB play ruins your entire team. The Falcons don't want to be in a situation where they're forced to play a sub-par QB with this roster they have and ruining a new coach's start with their organization. If you just go with Kirk or just go with Penix starting as a rookie and it doesn't work, you're right back to Heinicke and being fucked. So maybe it wasn't the correct decision, but if you've watched the shit show that is the Falcons' offense since Matt Ryan left, it's an understandable one.
-
Really depends on how he looks this next season, but I could see a bunch of NFL GMs seeing tape on Quinn and his lazy throws that just hang in the air until Christmas and saying fuck no. If he cuts that shit out of his repertoire and improves his deep ball significantly, he'll go high. Teams have to have QBs. McCarthy and Nix are 3rd/4th round talents and they both went in the top 15 picks.

Well at least the Stars don't suck.

This is fucking absurd.

We're really good. At leaving men on base.
