    God Bless.

Mine, after 14 years of not working, decided to be a preschool teacher last year.  SO MUCH DRAMA with parents, fellow "teachers", school director, etc.  She loves/hates it every day.  Now she's considering going back to school for a masters. I asked "what degree and what's the job it gets you?"  Something something something, "I'm not sure, yet."

That's going to end up being 9 hours of credits with zero follow through over the next 18 months.

    Who will pay for it?

    Charles DeMar will...

Oh you’ll pay for it alright
  2. Now, the ending is kind of an option. I use the swirl. I like the swirl. I'm comfortable with the swirl. I feel the swirl is a greatcapper. He uses the pinch, which I find a little presumptuous.

    Is it a clockwise swirl?

I prefer clockwise, but it's not written in stone.

You’re using the swirl? That’s my move!

Especially since it was wrangler paying him!

I know for a FACT that he and Jerry Rice use the copper fit sleeves when they're playing back yard tackle football.

  4. Nick Offerman got this, from a podcast I heard recently. It's a lot funnier to hear it in the way he tells it too.

"I made a quick list of just absolutely ridiculous things about this film...Shoeless Joe asks him to pitch to him, he’s got enough bats and balls to field two college teams, yet he takes the mound with no mitt. No mitt? You put in lights in your cornfield and you have no mitt?…

That infamous pitcher’s mitt. That’ll getcha every time.
  5. Deduct what from their taxes, and write-off what?  I believe it's a device to circumvent a billionaire grandfather from gifting-away his estate and thus avoiding estate tax.  I'm not sure that income tax has anything to do with gift tax.  They're paid by two separate groups of people.

Jerry, these big companies, they write off everything.

Spoilers below, so skip this post if you don't want to see them.

I watched the Netflix doc last night.  I don't feel that bad for the investors and employees.  I mean, this is not an atypical startup story.   Every startup is some borderline sociopath founder's "vision" that does not exist, investors giving them money to make that vision a reality and a push by some talented people in the trenches to try to deliver it.  Most of these endeavors wind up not being worth everyone's money or energy.  At any time any one of the people above or below Billy could have said, "Fuck this shit, I'm out" and they didn't.  The investors basically just took his word about revenue, didn't do any due diligence to validate his claims or determine if he had people capable of pulling off a large-scale music festival.

Valley of the Boom has a good story unfolding now, a parallel to this where the feeding frenzy makes people do dumb stuff.  Greed and fear make the world go 'round, especially fear of missing out.

  7. Trade publication subscription calls.

Every Fucking Month.  Its like the fourth level of hell.

"Mr. Incredulity this is your last chance to renew your free subscription to Industry Week Monthly."

    "Please cancel my subscription."

    Narrator: They don't.

I’ve been getting one to two calls a day from an asshole company telling me they can lower my credit card rates or some shit. I kept hanging up once they start the spiel and they keep calling back. I decided to let them “help” me so I hung on the line until a real person picked up and started speaking like Marfan Mike asking for help. They hung up immediately. Must have taken my number off their list because my phone has been blissfully silent this year.

This pleases me so maybe wrong thread.

Neither of those are my favorites, but I appreciate how some folks love them so much.

I imagine when true coon asses are out of town or move away, those are among the things they miss the most...

    and nutria.

    For my wife, it's crawfish.

And probably Nutria but not openly.

  9. Hell he is even wrong about hoops.  I believe that the kids have to go to college at least one year, right?  That's why there are so many one-and-done players.

  10. I see someone's never experienced the death wobble... Or seen a car with their tire hopping as they're doing 55 down Mopac.  Shit can go south quick with a few ounces of properly placed weight.

And you can always be a bigger dick, and put those weights on the driveshaft.

My father owned a tire store and I grew up mounting and balancing tires, and making recaps. I’ve seen just about everything. It takes more than a few weights to do any of that.
