Need to replace one of mine as well. Been wondering if I could get clever and buy a home warranty and start getting it worked that way. Anybody ever tried that? Only concern is that it won’t be broken “enough” for them to cover a full replacement, but I’m sure that can be arranged...

I moved for my company and part of the relo program was they bought me a home warranty for my new home.  Within 6 months the furnace dies and they send someone out to inspect and sure enough, it's dead.  They agree to replace it but say I have to pay around $2000.  I say that's not how it works.  I replace it myself and sue them in small claims court.  They bluster and have their attorney call me a number of times.  It gets to the day before court and they try to settle for less but I hold firm to my cost.  They finally agree to pay my costs with the caveat that they cancel the remainder of my home warranty contract and I sign a non-disclosure agreement so I can't tell people how shitty that business is.

I would like to see 8 but not 16, no one from the 16th spot is ever going to win it all. It’s like thinking the 64th seed is ever going to win the basketball tourney when the lowest ranked team to ever win all was Villanova in 1985 when they were the 8th seed.

If you start letting teams like USF and UCF get in the final four with their terrible schedules then no major school is ever going to schedule a hard non conference game again.

SOS is extremely important is getting the best four teams to battle for it all. Just because a team is unbeaten that doesn’t mean they should be in the final four. And if your saying take the human element out then how else are ever going to rank teams?

If you use just computers well guess what, one of the main criteria in their program is sos.

I don't like 8 but I think 6 is appropriate:  5 conference champions and 1 at large with the top 2 having a first playoff bye.

  3. It happens everywhere.  I actually saw it coming a few weeks ago on I-30.  I glanced down at my odometer, and made a mental note where it began.  I shit you not, it took 4 miles before the passing truck to finally get around and move over.  By that time there were 5 cars behind me.

Sounds like you got lucky. I’ve been behind one of those assholes who spent 15-20 minutes trying to pass and would get half a truck length ahead then fall half a truck length behind, finally giving up and pulling behind the other truck so the miles long line of cars could finally get on their way.
  4. No need to explain. People who make fun of the MX5 (no longer called the Miata) have never driven a stick-shift MX5.
BTW, the first time I got road head was in my '93. It was an awkward position because of the center console, but bless her flexibility.

After seeing her pic in the other thread is was going to ask wat dat mouf do doe, but now I know.
  5. Indefinitely. Fair enough. There may not be a realistic way to obtain a good return without accepting risk and volatility. I think Laga4 is probably right about a market correction coming. I'm probably going to keep the funds in a money market account that gets about 2% until at least after the November election. I may just invest in some real estate developer deals that provide for a guaranteed return on investment for new apartment and office buildings.

REITS are good for providing income on real estate deals and provide diversity in assets.
