This game is great, mostly bc it means Texas, TCU, and SMU all made the playoffs before aggy.

The one thing Elko was supposedly doing right was getting rid of the attitude problems and establishing a better culture. It was why so many players left last year and he replaced them with G5 jags.
But the portal moves with Hudson and now Humphrey demonstrate he panicked and just went back to the same Jimbo Fisher well: players with lots of stars and other issues. I think that’s going to backfire, big time.
It's early, but it seemed to me like Elko really did want to wash the Jimbo culture stink off of that team.
My guess is that he was given the leash to do that right up until he lost to dadgum tu, being "physically annihilated" in the process, and now he's being told to load up on stars at all costs.

Just now, Tex Pete said:I don’t know about $10MM or $12MM for players, but I know they paid their shitty midget coach $100MM to set their program back about a deca…to where it’s always been, which is about as dumb as selling Manhattan for $24 and some beads.
I mean, those figures were posted upthread so I'm going to assume they're accurate.

That schedule and the mediocrity of the SEC this year really did produce a lot of smoke and mirrors for the aggies. The money is fatigued and hoping they really are “that close”.
I mean, you just summed up why they'll never get there.
To make drastic changes, you have to admit that you're very far from where you want to be.
Aggy's pride will never let them admit that they're so far off (and particularly not while we're clearly doing well) and so they find signs to cling to and believe they're "on the precipice" of something great.
Since they never admit they're far off, they're unwilling to do what they need to do to change, so they stay the same.
Rinse, repeat.

This has always been hilarious to me, how one random poster with no way of knowing anything throws out a number they've "heard" and automatically that is adopted and repeated as fact.
Meanwhile it is widely known in circles that aggy had to give Chace Sims $10M and DJ Sanders $12M not to flip to us, so they really shouldn't be talking about throwing money around to sign players.

I love today. I love it almost as much as aggy hates it.
Let's fuck up Georgia tomorrow and force aggy to continue watching us live their sec dreams.

If there ever was a case study for the value of studying and learning from history, it's texags.
In just those last posts, I've learned that their problem under Jimbo is they WEREN'T BUYING ENOUGH PLAYERS and that the only reason they lost to us was a couple of unlucky bounces and otherwise the programs aren't very far apart.
So what they propose to do from here, if I understand correctly, is 1) focus on buying more mercenary players, especially on the dline, and 2) not change much else bc they're on the right track otherwise and just need some luck.
And they honestly don't know why they're a perennial middle-dweller. Just incredible.

When reviewing targeting was first happening, seems like the only thing the review decided was if the player got ejected or not but the penalty yardage would still apply...is that a recent change or am I misremembering?
I think that applies if there's a penalty without the targeting. For instance, roughing the passer, with targeting. You can lose the targeting and still have the penalty.
If it's only a penalty of targeting, I think if you lose targeting you lose the penalty.
Edit: Huck beat me to it

Based on what I've seen this year, officials have actually been better about reversing targeting calls that turn out to be incidental contact. Which is exactly what the Mukuba hit was.
Anything that looks bad still draws a flag, but it seems like it's been a point of emphasis to not be so idiotically strict if two helmets happen to graze each other. Reversing targeting used to be rare. Feels like we've seen it at least 2-3 times in our games this season.
I hadn't really noticed, but if so that's really good development. It felt for a while that they'd gone overboard with interpretation of the rule. There have been plenty of calls in the last few years that clearly were not targeting for what the rule is meant to prevent, but upheld. It's good to hear if this is changing. This was definitely a "not targeting by intent" call.

Mukuba didn’t initiate the helmet contact. I think that’s why they didn’t call it. His head was in front of the receiver’s.
Agree. That's why I was hoping they'd overturn it, but honestly didn't think they would.

The receiver's head snapped to the side, it was clearly forcible contact. I think it still isn't targeting though because there's not an indicator. Technically you could argue that Mukuba led with his head because that's what made first contact but he was clearly trying to lead with his shoulder. Again, that's why I say it was a close call, it was absolutely in the gray area of the rule.
It's the only call I was surprised was overturned. It wasn't targeting, but it was close enough to the letter of the rule that I assumed they'd keep the call from the field.
Glad they didn't, but surprised.
The other two overturned calls were pretty obvious.

Subject: Thank You, Aggies – A Night to Remember at Kyle Field
Howdy, Aggies!
I’m not a Texas fan, but I’ll admit I came into Saturday night’s game between the Aggies and Longhorns expecting to cheer for the burnt orange. I’m an SEC fan through and through (Hotty Toddy from an Ole Miss Rebel), and I’ve always wanted to experience a game at the legendary Kyle Field. When the opportunity came to see this game, I couldn’t pass it up, even if it meant missing my own Rebels in action.
Let me tell you: it was worth every second.
From the moment my family and I stepped onto campus, we were blown away by the hospitality and energy of the Aggie community. The tailgates were unlike anything we’ve ever seen—every tent seemed to welcome us with open arms, good food, and good conversation. Somewhere along the way, my family and I found ourselves being “swayed” (pun intended) away from Texas and firmly into the Aggie camp. The spirit of the 12th Man is infectious, and by the time we headed into the stadium, we were all yelling “Gig ’em!”
The experience inside Kyle Field was on another level. The crowd noise, the cheers, the precision of your traditions—it was absolutely mesmerizing. And the sheer unity of the 12th Man made me wonder why the rest of us in the SEC can’t get it together quite like y’all do. I even found myself nodding along with some Aggies on a few questionable calls (don’t get me started on the officiating!) and laughing at how absurd Matthew McConaughey looked trying to hype up the Longhorns from the sideline.
In the end, while my heart still belongs to Ole Miss, I have to tip my hat to Texas A&M. Your school spirit, traditions, and game-day environment truly eclipse anything I’ve seen before. Thank you for the unforgettable experience, Aggie family. Y’all have something incredibly special in College Station, and I feel lucky to have been a part of it, even for one night.
Gig ’em,
An SEC Rebel (but now, an Aggie fan at heart—for at least one night)
I edited a...different version:

But I was most impressed by the hospitality I experienced in your stadium. Every time I approached a crowd of Aggies (and it was crowded in that stadium that night!) they politely cleared the way and let me pass through. I quickly understood why Aggies have a much deserved reputation for Southern hospitality. I've never seen anything like it.
I can assure you that I will never forget my first visit to Aggieland and Kyle Field, and I look forward to welcoming those kind, accommodating Aggies to visit us in the future.
Thank you for the unforgettable experience, Aggie family. Y’all have something incredibly "special" in College Station.

A competent HC will build his team over time, but that's not what they want. They're babies who want it Now! I don't want to wait for year 2, 3, 4 to build a roster. Gimme gimme gimme.
Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with general impatience.
The is about us. They're impatient because they can no longer hide behind the "if tu was in the sec" or "if they had to face us now" fairy tales they've been spinning for 10+ years. We're in their yard again, and they're painfully aware they've been exposed.
Now, like all things aggy, they're hoping there's some magic solution they can throw money at and catch up to what sark has spent the last 4 years building.
It's beautiful because there isn't, and they can't, and I suspect now they never will.

Take note that they're already making an opt-out excuse for losing to a big 12 team in their bowl. That's how broken they are.

So instead of The Lottery it would be The Jizzery. Everyone on campus has to blow a sheep at one of the many the glory holes, but the catch is that 12 of the sheep are black and if you get one of those they put you into their bonfire structure and collapse it before the burn. "Thanksgiving Jizzery equals Texas victory!" instead of ''Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon. ''

Tell Me About Texas a&m

Looks like someone forgot that we actually played each other this year, so they can't do the crazy triangulation justification they've done for the past 10+ years to prove that they're better anymore. Poor aggy.
