Well I guess aggy can always add the "We Paid The Highest Buyout Ever" trophy to their case.
They're putting it on the wall as we speak.

I don't really do the twitters, but I really hope everyone who does is resurfacing the "Jimbo's extension will seem like a bargain for a&m" tweet this morning.

You don't pay 3.5xs the highest buyout ever to hire UTSA's coach
I hear your point, but you should go back and revisit Jimbo's contract through the lens of things rational people don't do.
aggy not only does them, they take pride in them like they've figured out some super secret path to guaranteed success that no one else thought of.
It would be shocking if they did all of this to hire Traylor, but the fact that it would be so shocking almost makes it more likely.

$76m seems like a steep price to pay to get out of playing KSU in a Texas Bowl, even for aggy.
My guess is that they're paying it now because it's not getting any better by waiting. I think I read that in 3 years it will STILL be the highest buyout ever paid. It's not like if they wait a year or two it's getting better. They just fucked themselves on that contract.

Finally saw a replay of the DPI against Stoops, and it was even worse than the non-call against Worthy.
fuck ou, but fuck this conference more. It's easy to laugh at OU right now, but remember this - however bad it looks right now, it's likely coming for us even worse.
It will not surprise me if this league does whatever is necessary to prevent us from winning it on the way out. Anything. It might be Iowa State on the road. They might let us get to the actual championship to draw more eyeballs and have one of the remaining teams make a "statement" against a departing team. But it's coming.
I think we have the first team in over a decade that probably SHOULD win the conference...and I'm 100% thoroughly convinced the league will not allow it to happen.
So laugh at OU now, but know that these missed calls may be an every down kind of thing in one of our upcoming games. We're better than every remaining team on the schedule, but if they can tackle receivers every play along with the blatant holding that's already allowed, it won't matter much.

I don't think Murphy played a great game, but a reasonable one when accounting for the situation.
However anyone blaming him for the fumble is being silly. The play is slow developing and designed for him to turn his back to that side and make a throw. I love Brooks, but he whiffed the block on a play where whiffing the block gets your QB blown up almost by design.
Would a more experienced QB have secured the ball more quickly? Maybe. But I'm not blaming MM for trusting the defender would be at least slowed enough for him to execute the play.

We passed USC for one week in the BCS standings in 2005, although we went back to #2 after the Okie Lite game. But we never came close to passing them in the AP or Coaches' polls, even after their close calls against ASU, ND and Fresno State.
"Two-time defending national champions" is a hell of a drug
I can think of one other week we passed USC in the standings...

Some of you guys are really letting yourselves get pulled in by wins over bad Arkansas and Auburn teams. If you've actually watched any of those games, you will know that aggy has some talented players but they are a bad, bad team.
Can Bama fuck around and let aggy win? Sure. If Bama plays like they did against Ole Miss, no way in hell is aggy winning, much less "punishing" Bama. Come on.

How is their class #3 though? Do they just have tons of guys we wish we had? I don’t know enough about their people, it seems like we got almost all our guys

Jimbo had shitty OL at FSU also. It was one of the biggest complaints the FSU fans had. I don't know how he ended up not valuing OL, but it's hilarious.
I legit think it might be ego about his scheme.
Given their allocation of "NIL" funds, it's clear he values dline.
The only thing I can come up with about clearly undervaluing oline is that he believes his scheme can work without superstar oline.
If there's anything Jimbo has proven in his time at aggy, it's a stubborn belief that his scheme is what they need to win despite ample evidence to the contrary.
It just feels like the guy has tunnel vision on everything with his offense outside of that cheesecake factory menu playbook.

The fact that Billy "nothing to see here" Luicci and Texags is scrubbing the posts kind of confirms it for me.

4 of the top 5 are SEC schools so it is a win for aggy. Next year it will be 5 of the top 10 which will be a scoreboard loss to aggy courtesy of hello Texas.
Next year, it would be 5 sec and 5 big 10.
If anyone has questions about whether college football is going to start looking a lot more like the AFC and NFC...

Yeah if it's at least a moderate high ankle sprain and they push him back in 2-4 weeks his mobility will be very limited.
But honestly Max Johnson liked fine back here. He's about as good a backup as they could hope for. Weigman shows flashes but I'm not convinced that in 2023 Johnson is that much of a step down.
At least against Auburn I thought he looked better. Weigman may be talented, but he still looks a little shell shocked and didn't seem to see the field well. Johnson's experience at least showed in that suddenly there were a lot more open guys than there had been with Weigman.
Now, I hope he looks awful going forward, but any aggy excuses about the dropoff going to the backup are going to be pretty hard to defend based on the Auburn game.

Has anyone seen Oklahoma play this year? I haven’t seen a down.
Also, fuck them.
I haven't watched them but have seen the scores.
I was curious also and found a fairly in depth write up on them this season if you're interested.

It honestly would not matter. Auburn is one of the worst P5 teams I've ever seen, particularly on offense.

It's about the Texas game. Period. Every decision they make revolves around us. Don't think it's a coincidence they're doing this the year before we join.
