So do Heinlein's heirs get royalties for use of the word "grok"?

You know, there actually is one thing I enjoy about this moment in our cultural timeline. That thing is how people absolutely, completely, and utterly debase themselves at the altar of a narcissist, thinking that in return, he will be loyal to them. And every time, once the narcissist decides that the debaser no longer serves his needs, or he needs a scapegoat, he shivs the debaser. So, now the debaser is utterly humiliated/emasculated AND stabbed dead. It's funny. Their stupidity and total surrender of all dignity for no good reason whatsoever amuses me.
This is why they call it the ART of the con.

By the law of Republican bullshittery, we have to say it's giving Iran $30bn. No nuance
Donald J. Trump wants to give Iran $30 billion
...and charge them only 50%.

Isn’t the assessment based on satellite radar that’s accurate down to like a couple inches or better? Like… the fuck?
In addition to knowing trump is lying because his lips move, add you know when he sends a text.

Try spending a few years living on oil exports instead of helping every radical group blow shit up. You might live long enough to enjoy it.

The question comes down to whether or not you are willing to let them have a nuclear bomb. Iran is the leading worldwide sponsor of terror attacks. They were the leading proponent of the Oct 7 attack, of the Houthis and their attacks on commercial trade, and of Hezbollah. They openly celebrate the rape and killing of women and the murder of (Christian or Jewish) children. They've been this way for decades. It is informative to consider the words of Khamenei from one month ago, prior to the current war. The point is, these aren't just emotional utterances but rather are fundamental values of the regime.
There is fundamentally no reason to enrich uranium. These fools are sitting on top of vast oceans of hydrocarbons. It's a nuclear program with one purpose. For this reason, literally nobody is coming to their rescue. There was no commercial reason to bury their uranium enrichment 300 feet deep outside of anticipating the air campaign. Nobody wants a nuclear arms race in the middle east.
Iran has no friends, not even China.
But air campaigns are not effective at regime change. So it's a conundrum, if you believe that they cannot have a nuclear weapon, which Trump has stated over and over again. Where is the off ramp? Do we have to use tactical nukes on Fordo? What do we do in six months if there is no regime change?
I do think the odds of an actual ground invasion are basically zero. I think if Iran tries to close the Straits, they will unite the world against them and actually get the regime change that is so unlikely as of now.
I think maybe 60% our attack will come this weekend.
One can try to make friends out of cockroaches but will always find it a waste of time.

It quite literally becomes almost indelible muscle memory. The only confusion becomes "left foot first or right foot first?". (Most learn the latter, I learned the former.)
Hence the left, left, left right left

Let's hope Mr. Ah Loo is honored more for being killed during an effort to save lives than someone who was killed trying to breach a secure area in the Capitol riot.

Makes perfect sense to have a program that destroys you if you fail at routine maintenance. Way to go, Boeing. How about a program that would simply prevent engine startup?

Yep, although that hit was mostly symbolic. Once I heard Iran was striking civilian centers I knew this was heading to total war.

Do not forget there will always be people there who want a riot to happen or will cause one just so they can loot stores and vehicles during the confusion.

I do not know who first said something about what happens when the insane people get control of the asylum, but if the nutcases remain in control we will surely find out.

Yes, I am sure the Iranians fully complied just like North Korea would and Russia and China.
But we know who in here would rather see Iran win in this argument to spite our President.
I am hard pressed to find anyone here who would need an excuse to spite our President, based on the fact that he is a criminal piece of shit.

So anybody in the know or understand why the City of Austin so readily agreed to the Tesla robotaxi even though everybody has a lot of questions about it? I've read up on it, but it just seemed way too easy.
I can see it being a case of them approving it, because if they don't, the state will step in, but still. Maybe they believed that it would take years before actually happening.
I actually think he's probably hyper-focused on this right now, because if this fucks up, just a week ahead of the National Transportation Safety Board's June 19th deadline for Tesla, Trump will go hard at it and make sure everybody knows, the stock market will not like it, and the permits will be revoked (and not even the state would step in)
Lemme guess...follow the money???

Damn I'm getting old, if I'm becoming the grump that hates the theatrics
Reminds me of something I heard my 11 year older brother say more than once: "I spent most of my life trying to please people who fked me over, now I piss people off on purpose." The older I get, the better I understand that feeling.
