Effort too. On the Salzburg goal, Chelsea had 4 back against 2 attackers. Silva with a WTF tackle. Cucurella basically stopped running once he got in the 18 and let the dude cross the ball right through where he would've been had he kept running.

If I were Potter, I'd show the last 15 mins where they were crossing the ball and threatening vs the whole 2nd half before it where they didn't do shit with the ball outside the 18. Then I would show them Havertz standing there in the 18 while a beautiful ball crosses right where he would've been had he made a run, like attackers are supposed to fucking do. And then I would show the whole fucking sequence leading to the goal to show that most Chelsea players were lollygagging. There's no effort.

Yup, the team is lazy and has no heart. I love Thiago but he laid an egg on that one.

Square sausage. Link sausage. Black pudding. Slice of ham. Fried egg. Sautéed mushrooms. Potato scone. All were delicious. Didn’t eat the beans or toast. What’s not to like? The people know their breakfast meats (except the bacon, which I skipped).
Busy watching the BBC coverage. All presenters wearing all black. Now, a retrospective on her life. Love the Boris Johnson commentary - what a clown. I kinda wanna party with him.

Square/Lorne sausage is fucking great. Have a friend here that brings it down every time he goes up to Elgin, along with some Scottish pies.

Just saw a text that games this wknd will likely be called off.  It was from one of the 10-20 Spurs fan twitters that I follow.  No idea if its true at all

Likely true but not official yet. As a Chelsea supporter, we could use a few days but sucks for the weekend and an already tight schedule with the World Cup

Do they still have to have a general election after the sovereign dies?  At least at one time, because the monarch was the authority that called Parliament, Parliament automatically dissolved when the monarch died and a new election had to be called.  But I think they got rid of that at some point.

If they did have to do a general election right now, then that's an absolute nightmare for the Tories.

Anyhoo--I can't help but think this makes Scottish independence a lot more likely.  I think there were a lot of old Scots who kind of personally favored independence, but didn't want to betray the Queen, of whom the are very fond.

No requirement for a new  election.

Nicola Sturgeon will push even harder now for Scottish independence. I’ve lived in Scotland and England and get the Scottish viewpoint, but it’s economically a disaster for them in an economy that depends primarily on fossil fuels.

So which of you are still in London right now?  What's it like?

It’s London, people go on with their lives pretty quickly here. And there is always the pro vs anti monarchy and then those that don’t give a shit.

But generally people seem to be sad about it but was expected. After Phillip passed, many expected her to get through the jubilee and then pass soon. She handled the role remarkably well and selflessly for 70 years and has been a consistent rock for the country. She will be missed, and I don’t think Charles can fill those shoes. William seems much more prepared.

All that being said, it’s just not a huge part of daily life here.

What the fuck did she ever do to the Irish?  I'm not talking about the Crown; I'm talking about the person who actually died.

If her uncle had not abdicated, she'd have been a nice old duchess about whom nobody would have an unkind word.  But here's the thing--she has exactly the same political power as that nice old duchess. Actually less--the duchess would have gotten to vote.

So why are people ostentatiously dunking on her death when they wouldn't dream of saying the same thing about some nice old duchess who never hurt anybody?

No shit. Her husband’s uncle was killed in a boat explosion by the IRA and it’s not like you ever heard her make a significant .issue of it. I suspect he’s confusing Thatcher with the Queen.

I understand when people what to delight in the deaths of people who did them distinct harm.  I get why a lot of old union members in the Midland were happy when Margaret Thatcher died.  I'll be over the fucking moon when Donald Trump dies.

But Elizabeth II never did anything to any of the innumerable people who take her passing as an opportunity to show their ugliness.  Ok, great--you hate the institution of the monarchy; it still exists.  You think British colonialism was bad; she didn't do it.

Meanwhile, there's an entire country for whom she was the human embodiment of their country under their Constitution.  And a lot of them are really sad.  But nevermind--someone on Twitter needs to dunk on someone for . . . reasons.

Some of the reactions out there are just really weird.

It’s just a simple lack of understanding (or interest) in how the British monarchy works.

oh snap.  meghan's not going to scotland.  harry's going by hisself.

Look, she’s awful, as is Harry.  But she honestly would get crucified for either decision. Show up and she’s making it all about her and trying to garner more attention. Not show up and she’s snubbing the Queen and family. She was screwed either way. But she brought it upon herself.

Great lineup. I’ve had all of those 82s multiple times and curious what your favorite was. Poyferre was always mine.

He doesn’t play for Morocco cause his coach accused him and Mazraoui of faking an injury and both rejected the latest call ups to the national team. The Moroccan coach has had issues at every stop, and Ziyech had zero issues at Ajax under ten Hag.

Based on the track record at Chelsea under Tuchel, I would tend to believe the players and not the coach.

Ziyech has been awful for Chelsea. He had a few spectacular goals last year but otherwise has been shit. His two penalty kicks straight into the line, along with his poor touches, we’re a disaster. Reece should never have let him take the second one. I’m done with him and Pulisic. They need to move on (and want to) as they rarely deliver when given their opportunities. Complete opposite of a guy like Chilwell.

that's not a clear foul, that exact thing goes uncalled all of the time, this is a physical sport. that's the problem with this shit- it's completely subjective.

and btw, how the FUCK does mctominay not get booked for teo hand shoving martinelli from behind? arsenal have lost players for the entire season *twice* because of fouls like that. total horseshit.

I don’t think you understand the game. That was an easy call.
