T-1 week until I trade in 100 degree temps for highs in the upper 70s for a couple of weeks.

I'll have a pint (or many more) in your memories.  Photos to come.

Or high 80s/low 90s……warming up next week and going to be a hot July here

  2. Decided to swap a couple of watches that I rarely, if ever, wear anymore. Went through Watchfinder and am getting rid of my IWC Aquatimer Darwin Edition and Girard Perregeaux Richeville Chrono. I’m getting the IWC Top Gun and Tudor Black Bay GMT Coke, plus a bit of cash back. There’s a fair amount of watch theft in London these days, so I was looking for a few to wear more often while giving the Vacheron Overseas and Audemars RO a bit more rest.

Just takes a few more $$ and it's glorious.  When searching AirBnB or VRBO in summer months, you've got to make sure units have A/C even if the chances are 50/50 you'll need it.

It makes a big difference. We’re expecting some days in July in the mid 30s. We have portable AC units in the living area and our bedroom, and it makes all the difference. But I know plenty of people that just grind it out. I can’t sleep at night in the heat.

  4. Try and get out to the islands if you can. I just returned a few weeks ago and found Split to be overrun with tourists/cruise ships and wish I’d only done one night there. Hvar and Vis were amazing.

Looks like I caught this from my nephew as did my brother in law. Slight fever & genuinely feeling like shit for two days, the next day "hey, looks like I'm getting better, the next day a few blisters on my hand, then now my hands, feet, & some of my face are covered in painful blisters. Strep level sore throat pain. I would take the flu or covid over this shit. There is little to no treatment other than waiting it out I guess.

Use a little lotion and stop whacking it so much. That should help the blisters on your hands.

I do deep cuts on them, just like I do with a pork shoulder.  My theory is that it gets more of the rub and smoke flavor into the meat.  Who knows?  But I damn sure don't want a bunch of meat falling through the grill!

By deep cuts do you mean that you score the top of the pork belly? The purpose of that is usually to draw out some moisture, which helps render the fat and make a crisper crackling but you might need a bit of high heat at the end.

[El Pais] Paris Saint-Germain have informed Neymar that they would be willing to let him leave on a loan this summer & pay the required salary during said loan

    So Raphinha, Sterling and Neymar

No Raphinha, shut it down earlier in the week and now looks headed to broke ass Barca

Yup. He was having dizzy spells a few days before and collapsed in the house. He didn’t get it checked out and a few days later had the heart attack.

He was renting a temporary place while his home was being renovated after some floods. It is very very close to the London Heart Hospital. His son went to the hospital (which is a small private facility) when it happened asking for help but was much too late.

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, Brian May of Queen and Wolfgang Van Halen will be performing.  Well, holy shit, who wants to go to London?

Got my tickets yesterday in the presale. Can’t wait.

  10. Agreed, I’m here now and it’s getting crowded. Dubrovnik wasn’t bad because there were no cruise ships the one night we stayed. Split was heaving with people, cruise ship crowd and college backpackers, to the point it was annoying. Mostar was quiet the night we arrived, felt like we had the town to ourselves, and then the next day Mostar and Blagaj were overrun with tour buses. Vis was amazing, sleepy, not crowded at all and the beaches were mainly just a few locals. In Hvar now and it’s busy. I cannot imagine this place in July/August.

Heading back to England in one month - only flying into/out of London, so probably won't post anything on this thread, but rather may start a separate Cotswold thread if there's any interest.

Count me in on the Cotswolds thread. May try to do a week there late summer but may have left it too late without a booking.

    Mustard don’t need no fridge

What a great series.  Season was clearly set up to come to a conclusion and happy with the way they did.  Also liked the way there's certainly room for more content.

Think the plan is to end it with a movie. Not sure how that will translate to the big screen but agree there is room for more.

It’s a glorious high of 72 degrees in London today.

I don’t get why so many locals are wearing a North Face puffer jacket zipped up like it’s sub freezing.

I leave town for 10 days and it’s beautiful in London and raining in Bosnia and Croatia.
