  1. I watched the second and third set in-person. He had a ton of crowd support from the Fairfield County crowd. He clearly got nervous in the second set and gave it away, In the 3rd set he was good, but with the amount of errors his opponent hit, it would’ve been pathetic if he’d lost.
  2. Sauce on the LES is another favorite of mine. If you like squares especially.
  3. I live in Hoboken now (lived in Financial District until about two weeks ago) but still am in the city multiple days a week for grad school. Would be down for a Surly meet up.
  4. If you're in Williamsburg, checkout L'Industrie Pizzeria
  5. I live in FiDi (though I'm moving to Hoboken next month)... Some other good places that haven't been mentioned: -Little Shop for "speakeasy" type cocktails -Pisillo for Italian sandwiches -Cedar Local for happy hour
  6. Eh, depending on your destination it can work. I've made it from my financial district apartment to the terminal in 41 minutes when I timed it perfectly. PATH to Newark Penn, bus to EWR. It can also be good if you're going to midtown and can take NJT right in to NY Penn. If you're cabbing-no shot. Quicker than JFK or LGA.
  7. Zadar is awesome. Spent three nights there last summer. Great outdoor bars, hopping right off the oceanside walkways to cool off in the Adriatic... Car-free downtown. Highly recommend. Hvar is also great-rent mopeds to zoom around the island and get away from the crowds of town to more secluded beachs.
  8. Whoops-glossed over the fact that the other flight is into LGA... From LGA, it's only $2.75/person to the city. Q70 to Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave where you can transfer to the subway which will get you to Midtown. About 45 minutes of transit time. A cab will run you ~$50-60 after tip (less if there's not much traffic, more if you really get stalled).
  9. 1) You *should* be OK if everything is on time (especially if you have GE/Precheck). I’d definitely book this itinerary if it was a Star Alliance connection but it gives me pause that your flight back to Austin is on Delta so you won’t be protected in the event of a misconnect. There’s nothing better via EWR, ORD, or IAH on LH/UA? 2) Flat fee cab is your best option and with 5 people, not really any more expensive than the public transit options (the Air Train tickets just went to $8 and that’s before Subway/LIRR tickets).
  10. If you're going to be in the village and you don't want to do pizza, Leroy House is a pretty good spot that isn't usually overrun.
  11. San Matteo at 81st and 2nd was one of my favorites when I lived in that neighborhood.
  12. Supposedly, Rice is starting Pepperdine transfer Cooper Chandler on Friday night. https://riceowls.com/sports/baseball/roster/cooper-chandler/7471 3.17 career ERA at Pepperdine.
  13. Sure-I agree with those articles. I'm just not sure there's evidence that the counterfactual (a worsened football product) would "erase" those gains. Rice and SMU have mostly sucked at football since the SWC (and Rice since 1960) yet both remain fine universities.
  14. Eh... I don't know if that's true. Is there really any evidence to suggest that conference realignment has ruined a school's ACADEMIC fate? I can think of schools who have been HELPED by realignment (TCU to name one), but none that have been truly hurt. Open to examples though! Case Western, UChicago, the Ivies, Rice, etc... All screwed themselves or got screwed by others yet all remain very competitive academically.
  15. Tough break for the Stags. As for the attractiveness of women from Fairfield, there are certainly better looking ones. Quinnipiac has far better talent though if we're talking CT MAAC schools.
