  1. How would you rank the importance of price vs. location? Prefer upscale vibe, party vibe, depressing vibe?

Not too concerned on location. I prefer the upscale hotels over the party vibe. Would be good to have a hotel with good food/bar options. We stayed at mgm signature last time we stayed near/on the strip.
I have a feeling they will want to be on the cheaper side considering how the initial planning has been going.

We went to Legoland in Summer of 2017 for our then first-grader, and it was not as agonizing as I remember when we took our daughter back in 2010 when she was five.  First, they have a couple roller coasters, which aren't anything to write home about, but they're enjoyable if your kid is up for it.  But more importantly, they now sell beer there.

Ah beer is key. My 5yo likes rides as long as she is tall enough to get on. We will have a car to get around and be able to hit up some brewpubs and breweries while we are in the area. Already got a few on my list to go to.

Kids that young, Legoland is good. Maybe even consider staying in Carlsbad? Cute downtown with bars and restaurants, “Hops Highway” adjacent for breweries, and great beach.

Debating on going to Legoland. Will definitely go to the zoo and Seaworld so that's 2 days right there. Have another full day free to do stuff. Spend some time at the beach. We are debating on where to stay. Going with another family and trying to decide to stay on Mission Bay or Point Loma area.

  4. I had a good experience at interstellar bbq when I went 2 weeks ago. Sausage and brisket were good. Ran out of pork ribs so didn’t get to try them. This is easily the best bbq option near me. Not much to get in the cedar park / northwest area. Next closest to me is probably brotherton.

  5. Sorry about your thumb.

Where can I get ghost in San Antonio? I’ll be in Austin tomorrow for abw party. Anywhere there?

Ghost only in Houston. Unless you can get someone from Houston to meet you at abw?
  6. Well, the zoo IS a park of sorts.  And Balboa Park (where the zoo is located) is pretty awesome.

Good point there. Now to find an area to stay at. May get a car for a day to drive to other places in the area. Figured we would try to stay near an area where we can walk to get food, drink and coffee to avoid having to lug around car seats.
  7. SIAP, but I just came across this stuff today at my local HEB and it is excellent. Cooked it up on my Camp Chef griddle, then some yellow corn tortillas on a generous layer of oil, and garnished them with raw onion and cilantro. Pretty damn good for a white boy. And I didn't bite a single piece of gristle or whatnot. Good shit.ab15220ced899614bf5695733fed003b.jpg

Bought these a couple of times and cooked them up on my blackstone. Perfect for taqueria style tacos.
  8. Nice bump on this. We just booked our flights for May 17-21. Main things we want to do are the beach and zoo. Haven’t really planned much as to where to stay and what breweries I want to visit. We will have our 2 girls who are both 5 and 1.5yrs. They like parks and doing stuff outside.

  9. Thanks all for the advice. We got to Anaheim on Saturday before lunch. Drove around the area for the day. Had to hit up some breweries on my list before we went all in Disney for the next 3 days. Checked in on Sunday morning and headed to the park. We stayed at Disneyland hotel and it was a short walk to downtown Disney and the park. This was our first time and a surprise trip for our 5yo daughter. We booked the princess boutique and breakfast with Minnie. She loved both but she surprised us by really wanted to do rides. Her favorites were guardians, soarin, Star Tours. She wasn’t tall enough for some rides so we opted out of those. Maxpass helped a lot to book things on the app. Overall a great experience and worked well to go to DLR instead of WDW for a little one.
